@Reebooi

LOL mate! If you read what the guy wrote and then consider he reviewed MGS4 on an Xbox 360 site and gave it a 9.9! Well you might of realised that as he said it is very much wishful thinking...

@Figboy

Well put mate. Bubbles.

It seems to me that this game is much more an action title than the RPG I first thought. Which isn't a bad thing, it's just different to what I was expecting.

If they sell me on the combat, which seems like DMC meets Fight Night, then I'll be playing it multiple times over largely based on the scaled difficulty and enemies, co-op, finding hidden loot, levelling my character up, and playing through all those differently pla...

I was just disappointed he forgot to add "badass"! WTF?

As much as you may or may not have liked Halo 3, don't forget that it's 4player coop from Sept 07 is the real reason we are seeing it in Gears 2 & twice that in Resistance 2. Halo 3 set the bar for console gaming online, and we'll all benefit as titles such as Resistance 2 take that bar and push it even higher!

Well if he meant narrative depth and interest and he's not completely full of the BS I'm cynically suspecting, then Gears 2 just went up a notch in the potential GoTY ladder.

6447d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Yeah for all the talk of Fallout 3, LBP, MGS4, Gears 2, GTAIV, etc as GoTY. I still think this is the one to beat! :)

As much as I welcome new IP's, particularly Too Human, LBP and GRID (which I'm playing right now!), sequels are an incredibly important part of the business.

The investment in a new IP is a huge creative and financial risk, which means that in order to recover investments and polish an IP further sequels are a necessary evil.

As you point out MGS4 is a watermark for sequels in that it has finally got to the point of representing the initial vision and investment of i...

Yeah I agree, it's a refreshing change of pace on XBLA and it the art, humour and (once I got used to it) combat are all exceptional.

The only downside is that each one will cost me 1600points! :(

I'm glad that this isn't part of E3 anymore. If gaming is to become truly mainstream and be taking more seriously as an art-form and business by outside groups, politicians and parents... then getting rid of such stuff at the biggest industry event of the year is a wise move, in spite its unpopularity.

I think many forget the big fat elephant in the room... Spore!

To me that singlehandedly reduces the chances of LBP and Banjo (if it had any?) as it is far more advanced than either in terms of user generated content and Web 2.0 functionality. It encompasses five different genres in a game that is multiples larger than anything else.

I also think the fact that it's a new IP gives it a major leg up over all the contenders as it's far more likely to surprise, than sequ...

@beavis

I came in because commenting does not require interest or favoritism of a topic/product but merely an opinion, in this case mine happens to be different to yours.

As for the following statement you made:

"you don't like KZ particular and sony in general. nothing wrong with that."

Well there is something "wrong with that", I have a PS3 and enjoy it very much thanks! But as I've explained, now in further detail abov...

Killzone has a metacritic of 70 and was released back in 2004, Ninja Gaidem was released in 2008 and has a Metacritic of 82 and is in a completely different genre and a different generation!

A 70 Metacritic in 2004 may not seem bad, but to put it into perspective look at it compared to games of the same genre in it's time.

The following is a list of AAA FPSs (Metacritic 85+) on both platforms:

Halo - 97 (2001)
Halo 2 - 95 (2004)
Half Life 2 ...

I'm pretty sure the disc drive is covered for 12 months, as opposed to the 3yrs for a hardware failure (RROD). :)

6450d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Personally I have no interest in Killzone 2 at all.

The first one was s sub standard, generic FPS at best and the gameplay of K2 looks to have the same theme but it's now imitating more recent releases, most prominently COD4. Add Sony's misleading CG behaviour back in 05 which has tainted the game in journalists eyes, the unnecessary hype and fanboys clamouring over it like the a messianic figure and in my opinion the title is being asked a hell of a lot more than it ever could d...

Wow Bubbles for the most comprehensive post I've seen in a long while! :)

You raise great points and particulary about the Phil Harrison debacle which not only cost Sony a lot of talent but by letting King Ken run the show he gave the PS3 a lot of Cell Processor power but without the hardware (GPU, Ram, etc) to optimise it. So all they really got was a bloody expensive thing to produce that doesn't use all the horsepower under its hood to the best of its potential. And that's cle...

Yeah Spore looks fantastic. Another strong GoTY contender that really for all the talk of user generated content, will put LBP and Banjo to shame.

I agree mate. If MS are truly serious they should go after the casual mass market with a $100 cut. $50 whilst good, may not be enough.

@juuken
Hey mate I replied to your post but N4G went crazy on me and posted it in the thread above. :)

@butterfinger
I'm so jealous. In Oz we have nothing that fast available commercially!

@RealityCheck
I agree, but the 360 is on track for a 1000 titles by end of this year and is only in it's third year. Which is a vast improvement over the original Xbox.

However, most of the extensive game library on the PS2, possibly the greatest ever...

6451d ago 3 agree0 disagreeView comment

I agree that the 360 has the first mover advantage because it was released earlier, but the core reason that the 360 is able to drop it's price and is profitable is actually because MS made the 360 much more cost efficient than the more technologically advanced PS3.

For example:

- MS designed their own chip which whilst it caused RROD, means that they pay no ongoing royalties/licensing on console sales for the life of the console to manufacturers, in contrast to the...

And how's that different to the current situation?!

The 360 carries almost three times the titles of the PS3 and has a significant price advantage of hundreds of dollars.
