No, they really aren't "doing just fine".
3DS sales are dwindling rapidly (the handheld has really old, outdated tech, the 3D fad fizzled), Wii U has flopped, the amiibo gimmick fad is dying out, their first mobile "game" isn't even a game, and the NX is still a ways off. None of their products right now are gaining traction, and there's nothing compelling on the horizon for the company.
Far from "doing just fine", ...
... and watch your money go up in smoke.
Worst time to buy, chances are slim that the stock will recover much in the future, with the questionable decisions this company is making.
That man is insane if he thinks they will even get a fraction of 200 million "My Nintendo" members, this ain't the 90s anymore dude. Nintendo hasn't been a strong contender for over a decade, I doubt that's going to change anytime soon.
When did Nintendo announce that their new "Nintendo Account" would do away with their policy of tying digital purchases to hardware? Oh right, they never mentioned that at all.
Don't jump to conclusions and make false statements; until Nintendo actually changes that anti-consumer policy, it is still in effect.
I think they want a "traditional" console from Nintendo because the last two consoles they produced were crippled by mediocre gimmicks.
And without 3rd party developers on the NX, the system would have zero chance to succeed; is that what you want?
Unfortunately, what you call "innovation" ends up being poorly conceived gimmicks that fail to deliver a better gaming experience.
And no, no one dreamed of having a "screen on our controller", citing that as a justification for Nintendo's mediocre hardware just shows how out of touch you are with the gaming community. And motion controls have proven to be a failure, just look at the terrible results on the Wii, PS Move, and Kinect. All bad gimmicks t...
What a brilliant idea! Sounds like something Nintendo would seriously consider, it certainly would set them apart from the competition.
Well said. It seems like Nintendo strives to set themselves apart, by adding gimmicks to their consoles that the mainstream game companies don't have. Unfortunately, those gimmicks usually deliver a worse experience than the competition, and they cause the base console specs to be mediocre at best.
For the NX, if Nintendo follows the same trend as their previous two consoles, they're not going to have a chance.
Probably not very much. Nintendo won't talk about the NX until next year, and they have very few titles coming to Wii U or 3DS in the near future, so what does that leave for them to talk about? Amiibo cards and toys, and their first mobile app, which is a hugely disappointing Mii social app. Pretty barren landscape to be bothering with a Direct, will be interesting to see what they fill it with.
And no more gimmicks that ruin the experience, like the Wii and Wii U had.
And their first "smartphone game" isn't even a game at all, it's a silly Mii app. How far the mighty Nintendo has fallen, indeed.
Wow, things are looking worse and worse for Nintendo as time goes on. I really hope that they spent a lot of time and effort designing the NX, because if it's another gimmicky console with weak specs, like the last few of their consoles, they're done in the gaming industry.
Finally what? They still haven't changed that harsh, anti-consumer policy.

I was just going to post this, you hit the nail on the head. Can't stand online only games, will pass on this new NFS game (and I am a big fan of the franchise, own all the other versions).
Yep, I bought 8 brand new Dreamcasts for $50 each, what a deal! Still have them too, going to see about selling a few on Ebay soon.
You're absolutely right, the Dreamcast was a fantastic system, comparing it to the failed Wii U really does it a disservice. It was a far, far better console than the Wii U will ever hope to be.
Unfortunately, the "profit" is just a tiny amount, and both of their gaming hardware platforms are dying out (3DS and Wii U), so the future looks pretty bleak for them, doesn't it? All they have left are Amiibos, cheap toys to sell to their dwindling core of supporters. Pretty sad.
Things are looking pretty grim for Nintendo, if their most anticipated title (in development for years) has slipped off the radar. Its pretty clear that this game is being delayed for the NX platform, which means the earliest it would release would be late 2016. Not much left coming out, it seems like Nintendo just doesn't have the studios/staff to keep games coming out consistently.
Forced "always online" killed any excitement many people had for this game, too bad EA ruined it with that "feature". I have no interest in the game, and I own almost every other NFS game on multiple platforms.
