No one wants to play Wii games anymore, the Wii was a poorly designed, low-spec, gimmicky system, and the vast majority of games for it were junk shovelware. So the fact that the Wii U offers BC (albeit poorly implemented) really doesn't make the console any more attractive to gamers.

In the end, the Wii was a cheap fad that fizzled out years ago, and the waggle gimmick was just a novelty that people got bored with very quickly. Unfortunately, Nintendo didn't learn a...

Not just the games, Wii U hardware itself was mediocre and lacking in even the most basic features of modern consoles, and the gamepad gimmick didn't make up for the weak specs and missing features.

Well said, I agree completely. I still have my original NES, SNES, and N64, and I agree that the SNES was the best console Nintendo produced. Also agree that the Wii was a huge fad, once the novelty of waggle controls wore off, it just died (years before the 360 or PS3, which are still getting games to this day).

If the NX is another feature-lacking console, with yet another gimmick cobbled in, its doomed from the beginning. Simple as that.

Not much more powerful than the 360 or PS3, and in some ways worse than those consoles. Many ports ran worse on the Wii U than they did on those much older consoles, probably mainly due to its weak CPU and other design flaws.

But I agree that Nintendo fans are a small group, and if the NX isn't a well-designed, solid, feature-rich console, without silly gimmicks cobbled in, it's doomed from the beginning.

Sounds like a bunch of salt to me, why not just step up and own the fact that Nintendo's gimmicks just don't resonate with gamers anymore? Amiibos are nothing to be proud of, they are yet more gimmicks that just don't add much to the gaming experience, especially considering how much they cost.

Yep. Games are being rushed out without enough development time, ending up mediocre and lacking in content. This Animal Crossing game is just a cheap cash grab, trying to boost sales of the amiibo gimmicks. Pretty sad.

I wouldn't call an overall metascore of 61 "very good", but I guess your sarcasm isn't coming through very well in your comment?

Another game canceled due to the Wii U's poor design. Let's hope that the NX is going to be a better designed console, not just another mediocre, feature-lacking, gimmicky system like the last two consoles from Nintendo. If it isn't, they might as well just not bother.

@bggriffiths - So, you think that cdkeys and other such websites buy their keys directly from publishers? Even though those exact publishers don't recognize these sites as legitimate retailers?

Keep your head buried in the sand. As long as you get your cheap games, who cares, right? SMH

No way to know where your money goes, but most of it doesn't go to Sony. You know the old adage, if it sounds too good to be true ...

Cdkeys operates in the exact same manner as G2A and Kinguin. They source their keys through the "gray market", which includes keys bought with stolen credit cards, cheap regions (like Russia), or keys given out by developers and publishers to "journalists" (like you?), that were never meant to be resold.

Is that so hard to understand? I know, you don't care where the keys come from, as long as you get the games cheap, right?

3864d ago 2 agree2 disagreeView comment

@ bggriffiths, of course you don't have a problem with cdkeys, you are the one here who is always pushing this website in your "articles". And I guess you just don't care how those keys are obtained, and it doesn't matter to you whether the developers/publishers are fairly compensated for their games. Sad that so many people will take any deals they can find, without any respect for the companies that develop and publish games.

For more information on th...

Another article pushing the shady cdkeys website, which deals in gray market, out-of-region, and stolen keys. Stay far away from cdkeys if you care about your money going to the actual developers/publishers of these games.

Story quality? WTF
Like this website? No

Not surprising. Unfortunately amiibos are nothing more than gimmicks, which represent an expensive way to market dlc. The sooner that fad dies out, the better for the gaming community.

Unfortunately, the NX is probably going to be too little, too late for Nintendo. They have proven time and again that they don't want to invest a lot of money into their gaming hardware, instead preferring to keep the specs to a bare minimum, and throw in a gimmick to reel people in. They did this with the Wii, and it worked for a while, but that system died many years ago when the fad fizzled out. They did it with the Wii U, and it failed.

If they follow the same appro...

@Summons75 - Why make excuses for a poor design decision? No matter how much you try to minimize it, having only a tiny 32gb of internal storage was a terrible decision, one of many design flaws in the console. Not having a reasonable amount of storage built into the console will directly affect digital sales for the Wii U; the majority of Wii U owners won't bother buying an external hard drive, so digital sales will suffer.

And on top of that, Nintendo goofed and only p...

Hold out for a sub-$150 Wii U, it'll be coming sooner than you think. Next year it should be clearanced out in preparation for the launch of the NX.

3866d ago 1 agree7 disagreeView comment

Yep, so big that the game won't even fit on a 32gb "Deluxe" Wii U, even if absolutely nothing else is installed on it. Nintendo really didn't plan too well when they gave the Wii U so little storage, unfortunately.

3866d ago 6 agree17 disagreeView comment

Wow that's just really sad. Nintendo is completely out of touch with the gaming community, when they make ridiculous decisions like this one. No one should support this kind of censorship, it's better to just cancel your preorders of XCX to send them a message. Maybe they'd actually listen to their fans for a change, and do the right thing?

Nah, who am I kidding. This is Nintendo after all.

You can't "expand the Wii U's memory", it's permanently set at 2gb RAM (with only 1gb available for games). Would have been nice if you could, the system certainly could use some more RAM.
