"Wii U is the best console, we knew this ages ago."
Not sure who these mysterious "we" people are that you're referring to, but I would assume it's the shrinking group of diehard Nintendo fans that simply must have their next fix of Mario and Zelda games, no matter how low-spec and gimmicky the hardware. Sadly, this small group of people weren't enough to save the Wii U from its inevitable fate, forcing Nintendo to release a new console only 4 ...
See, you keep moving the goal posts. First you said:
"Xbox one is the worst console this gen."
"Maybe I could say xbox one has absolutely no good platformers. "
Then when I listed a bunch of great XB1 platformers, you said:
"Lots of these are not exclusives. Which again I will remind you...my point is...and still is, the Wii U is a better second console to have imo to go with my ps4."
<...
"Maybe I could say xbox one has absolutely no good platformers. It wouldn't be completly true, but it's the same truth as the truth you're trying to spin"
XBox One platformers:
Rayman Legends
Ori and the Blind Forest
Shovel Knight
Limbo
Guacamole
Rogue Legacy
Steamworld Dig

"If your a semi casual gamer who plays COD and Fifa all day then yes maybe they are better libraries"
This statement really couldn't be further from the truth. The PS4 and XB1 have much, much more diverse libraries of games than the Wii U. Entire genres that are almost completely absent from the Wii U include racing, shmups, action/rpg, fps, and tps games. Meanwhile, both the PS4 and XB1 have plenty of games in those categories, and much larger libraries of game...
No, a different name wouldn't have made any difference in the history of the Wii U. The bottom line is that Nintendo (once again) built the console around a gimmick, and either eliminated or scaled back many features/specs, all to accommodate the high cost of the gamepad. The hardware was simply unappealing to most consumers, and unable to compete with the PS4 and XB1 in any way. And the game library reflects that fact, with very few good titles available, and entire genres simply missin...
This game had potential, but the obnoxious, foul-mouthed witch, poorly-written "humor", and unnecessarily complicated/convoluted RPG elements totally ruined the game. Graphics have been nicely upgraded, but beyond that, it's really an awful game.
"...which features massive robots which can be customised for motion-controlled battles"
The reason is obvious; motion controls in gaming are awful gimmicks that ruin the actual gameplay. The Wii console and its games were a great illustration of that fact. Kinect is another example.
They probably finally realized that the game would have bombed hard, had they continued to throw away money on it. Although the project was clearly intended to show the...
If the NX does indeed incorporate gimmicks like Kinect-style controls, it'll be DOA. Nintendo really needs to drop all the silly gimmicks, and focus on making a solid console with traditional controls. And they really need to stop leaving out important features on their consoles, like internal hard drives, ethernet ports, and analog triggers. All of their recent consoles have been severely gimped, unable compete and lacking in even the most basic features.
Pachter is really a very astute analyst, sounds like his prediction about the NX is very accurate. If you look at Nintendo's past history with gaming hardware, it's pretty apparent that they prefer to put as little money into the manufacturing costs as possible, preferring to just throw in a gimmick to make up for the low-spec hardware. NX will probably follow the same pattern as Wii and Wii U, sadly, which is a recipe for failure.
Who listens to podcasts anymore? They're so obsolete. And even if they do, nobody's gonna sit through hours of people talking.
What a meaningless article. They take one quote from Palmer Luckey, which literally says nothing at all about Nintendo's support of VR, and spin that into an article. Worthless.
Preordered the PS4 Storybook edition and Vita regular edition, looking forward to this fantastic game! Will get the PS3 version later, really want to support these kinds of games.
If the NX is indeed a VR-based gaming system, the technology inside of it will probably be well below every other VR system planned for this year (Oculus, PSVR, Vive), and it will bomb hard. Nintendo just refuses to invest in their gaming hardware, preferring to put the bare minimum into it, to minimize costs and maximize profits. Let's hope that the NX is more of a traditional console (or handheld/hybrid), otherwise they're not going to convince anyone to buy into it.
2016 release for NX confirmed. Despite many claims by diehard Nintendo fans that it would come out in 2017 (or later), it's virtually guaranteed to come out this year. Time to move on from the failed Wii U, let's hope the NX offers a genuinely solid gaming experience, without gimmicks to try to reel people in.
@ Kimiko - Because the "New 3DS" (terrible name) is nothing more than a cheap trick, to try to get loyal Nintendo fans to re-buy the same handheld they already have. 3DS hardware sales were tanking, and Nintendo wanted a way to boost sales, so they released the "New 3DS" hoping fans would re-buy it. Huge scam, and a poor way to treat their customers.
@ higgins78; bubble down for trolling. You seem bitter in most of your posts, but there's no need to spread it in your comments.
It really is embarrassing that they couldn't even spend a few extra bucks to include an Ethernet port, they clearly went for a barebones console to keep their profits up (and make up for the high cost of the gamepad). Very sad.
There's something much more important than marketing when evaluating what the NX needs to succeed: solidly-designed, competitively-specced, feature-rich hardware. All the marketing in the world wasn't going to transform the Wii U into a better product, and it won't work for the NX either. Hopefully Nintendo learned a lesson from the Wii U's failure, and will invest much more into the design and manufacture of the NX, than they did with the Wii U. If they cheap out again, and t...
@ cash - Yes, a free demo for PS4 (in North America at least, not sure about EU):
https://store.playstation.c...
Unfortunately, they don't unless Nintendo's own games are the only ones you play. The game libraries for both systems are weak, with entire genres of games simply missing. And both systems are crippled by forced gimmicks, which completely degrade the experience.
