No arcade mode, minimal SP content, not worth buying. I'll wait for a disc version that contains that extra content (not just download codes), and if they don't release that, I'll just skip it. I have a huge backlog anyway, no rush.
No, plenty of fighting games have solid single player content. To the contrary, games that are primarily (or entirely) multiplayer oriented have much shorter lifespans than those with solid SP content. MP-only games are really just short term junk, and of course people who play those games often have to deal with obnoxious online punks.
The point is that Nintendo's hardware is way behind the tech curve the day it's released, at least other companies beef up their hardware enough that it can deliver decent games for years. Nintendo prefers to make the cheapest possible hardware, then toss in a gimmick to try to get sales. No one wants hardware that is way behind the times, but that's all Nintendo delivers these days.
No, they really can't "coexist"; both the Wii U and 3DS are based on very old, outdated technology. Both are also crippled by gimmicks, and lacking in even the most basic features found in other contemporary hardware. The sooner Nintendo releases a new console and handheld, the better (for the company and its customers). Nintendo simply can't afford to wait, the longer they do, the less relevant they become in the gaming industry.
Yep, the physical disc has no arcade mode and minimal offline/SP content, not worth it at all.
No arcade mode and minimal offline/SP content = no buy. When they include that content, on disc (not just as a download patch), I'll consider it.
Pretty sad.
"The Wii U can already do 1080P 60 FPS on games"
Sure, on simple cartoony games like Mario and Zelda, but it sure can't hit those numbers on anything remotely sophisticated, graphically.
Agreed. But, let's be realistic, it won't be. The Nintendo of today prefers to put the bare minimum into its gaming hardware, to maximize their profits. They simply refuse to open their wallets, to manufacture decent hardware. The result is poorly designed systems like the Wii and Wii U.
How do articles like this get approved for N4G? Very poorly written, with awkward grammar and sentence fragments, just sloppy stuff.
No, what he means isn't "vanilla", but an actually solidly designed console without silly gimmicks dragging it down. Nintendo can't afford to have another gimmicky, low-spec, feature-lacking console after the last two. Enough is enough.
@ higgins78 - "The Gamepad and/or Wii Remote are not gimmicky"
Yes, both of those controllers really are gimmicky. Nintendo uses gimmicks, combined with cheap hardware, to try to reel people in, and keep their profits up.
"I'll tell you gimmicky...PlayStation Move. See the difference?"
Seriously? Did you even think before you posted this? Playstation Move is a completely optional accessory, no one needs to buy it to p...
Exactly. The Wii U has been out for over three years, but Nintendo's tight-fisted philosophy is to keep the price high, despite the fact that people can buy the much better PS4 or XB1 for only $50 more. And everyone knows that the Wii U costs a LOT less to manufacture than the other two consoles, having such weak specs and missing features in comparison to those. They really just care more about profits than serving their customers, very sad.
That's because Nintendo is greedy, and refuses to lower the price of their games over time, hoping to squeeze every last dollar from their loyal fans. Look at the Wii U itself; surely with the very low specs and missing features, it doesn't cost very much at all to manufacture, yet Nintendo refuses to give it a price cut. The Wii U is only $50 less than the PS4 and XB1, yet it pales in comparison to both of those consoles. Nintendo is clearly living in its own little world, oblivious ...
To the contrary, look at the Wii U for proof that gimmicky, feature-lacking, low-spec hardware isn't popular anymore, despite the brief success of the awful Wii. Nintendo obviously thought that if they just used the same formula for the Wii U as they did for the Wii (cheap hardware with a gimmick thrown in), they would automatically have another money-making machine. The failure of the Wii U is really proof that the Wii itself was nothing more than a cheap fad, one that fizzled out years...
Good. They bungled several Castlevania games, including Lords of Shadow 1 and 2. And Shinobi on 3DS was trash.
This is typical of most articles from GamersFTW, they're poorly written, poorly thought out, and just bad.
Story quality? WTF?

It's fans like you who are contributing to Nintendo's downward slide in the gaming industry. Keep encouraging them to follow the same approach as they have in the past, if you want them to fail.
Your problem is right in front of you, mentioned in your comment. You shouldn't be buying battery packs at all, they always include inferior AA batteries inside. Just use the AA battery holder and put your own AA batteries in it instead.
And if you're talking about AA batteries, you must be buying the cheaper, non-precharged NIMH batteries, which do drain fairly quickly while not in use. What kind of AA batteries are you using?
Precharged NIMH AA batt...
Except he's right, PS Move is an optional controller for light-gun style games like House of the Dead and Time Crisis, and it works very well for that small subset of games. Kinect is just a bad gimmick, initially forced on every XB1 owner, and a very expensive one at that. Kinect never justified it's existence at all, at least Move had some decent light gun style games.
