If the ones that bought a Wii U are all that's left of the "real Nintendo fans", then Nintendo clearly is doing a lot wrong with their hardware and games. The system is basically ending it's life in 2016, only 4 years after it launched, with the worst sales of any Nintendo home console (or almost any console period). That is certainly nothing to be happy about.
@ AJ - None of what you said changes the fact that Nintendo has lost its way in the gaming industry and community. All of their hardware products for over a decade have been mediocre and hobbled by annoying gimmicks, and no amount of nostalgia is going to change that fact.
What a shame that Nintendo forced the motion control gimmick into this game. They just can't seem to focus on solid, traditional controls for their games, and these gimmicks really just degrade the gaming experience.
This is a poorly written, rambling article that really doesn't make any strong points. It sounds more like a bunch of fanboy excuses for Nintendo's mediocre hardware products, made through the eyes of a die-hard fanboy who will take whatever the company offers, because "Mario". A lot of words, very little real content.
Looks absolutely fantastic. Carmageddon 2 on PC was one of my favorites, looking forward to this sequel.
Wow. This game is getting terrible reviews. What a shame, because I was seriously looking forward to getting it. Not going to waste my time on something as broken as this.
What a ridiculous, false, poorly written article. Sensationalist clickbait article with no evidence to back up its claims.

Tried the demo of this game, absolutely awful (please try the demo before buying this game). The Witch has annoying, juvenile dialog, sounds like an angry teenager. Action was very repetitive, and the rpg elements were overly complex (for no good reason). Terrible game.
Marketing won't make a product better, if that product was mediocre to begin with (Wii U is a great example of that). If they gimp the NX with yet another gimmick, all the marketing in the world won't make it succeed.
If the NX follows the same pattern as their previous consoles, and is based on a gimmick tied to low-spec, feature-lacking hardware, then it will most certainly fail. Nintendo hasn't proven that they understand what gamers and developers want, and have simply continued to "do their own thing" on all of their recent products. It's very hard to believe that will change anytime soon.
Wii U is killing it with these fantastic games.
Who cares. This is the Wii U, most people weren't going to buy it in the first place. If they really like some of the games, they can buy them and run the emulator using the original discs. No big deal.
Welcome to 2006 Nintendo! Keep up the great progress.
"I'm not, i mean't as in every year people kill off Nintendo like a TV show character. You lot, in typical N4G fashion, took it literally. Brighten up guys, it's not all doom and gloom."
Not sure how anyone would not take your post literally, because all you said was:
"People have killed off Nintendo more than anything else"
Maybe you should try putting a little bit more effort into your enlightening posts?
@ Pixel - Why try to divert blame and point fingers at others for the failure of the Wii U? The responsibility for its failure lies with Nintendo, and Nintendo alone. They are the ones that built the entire system around a gimmick, and put far too little power and specs into the base console, leaving it completely unable to compete.
They really don't.

The technology inside the original 3DS was very mediocre at launch. You don't think that Nintendo could have included these features at that time?:
256mb system RAM (instead of 128mb at launch)
10mb VRAM (instead of 6mb at launch)
266mhz CPU (instead of 133mhz at launch)
4.88" upper screen (instead of 3.53" at launch)
None of the above enhancements would have cost Nintendo that much to include. They cheaped out to min...
If the "fans" bought an original 3DS, with it's tiny, poor quality screen, slow processor, lack of 2nd analog stick, wobbly hinges, washed out screen, small amount of RAM, and poor 3D effect, they got burned. The 3DS XL came out later, and resolved a few of those issues.
So when the 3DS XL came out, they had to re-buy the system, to get a bigger screen. Still a poor quality (non-IPS) screen, and much more pixelated due to the larger size/same resolution. Still...
@ reason 12 -"Plus if these droughts made people buy the games Nintendo put out, then why have Kirby rainbow curse, animal crossing amiibo, Mario tennis, etc not sell that much?"
Because all those games were terrible, even by the standards of diehard fans.
