"So Nintendo is fine regardless."

How are they "fine regardless" when they basically have no viable hardware products on the market, almost no future games coming out, and no promising gaming hardware coming out in the near future?

Star Fox Zero certainly did bomb hard. I was checking sales numbers, and at April 30th it was estimated to have sold 330k copies, then vgchartz revised the total to 290k as of May 21st, 40k less copies! I'm guessing that a lot of retailers actually returned tons of copies of the game when they realized that it wasn't going to sell.

As for why it bombed, that was covered in the many reviews that gave it low scores: awful motion controls, broken dual screen gimmick, ...

Unfortunately, in the end, the Wii turned out to be a cheap gimmicky fad. Once the novelty of the waggle controls wore off, and people realized that the games for it were mostly awful, they moved on. And a sure sign that the Wii was a fad was the fact that it died years before the competition.

These days, motion controls have been discarded in serious console gaming, and almost all gamers consider a standard controller to be the best way to play. Nintendo still stubbornly...

At this late stage, there is no way for Nintendo to "win" E3; they are in a major downturn right now, with the Wii U on the way out and nothing to replace it. A better title for this article would have been "How can Nintendo prove that they are still relevant at E3". With so many new gaming products coming soon, and the dominance of Sony and MS in the home console market, they're going to have a very rough road ahead of them.

"Nintendo have something bigger and better planned."

Please do tell us about the "bigger and better" things they have planned? No rush, take your time.

Unfortunately the only "bombs" they've dropped for quite a while now have fallen on themselves. It's their own fault that they are in such a poor position in the gaming industry and community today.

"Huh? Mr. Kimishima hasn't even been in power for a year yet, but he's been doing a VERY good job."

A "VERY good job"? You really can't be serious?

Nintendo has completely lost any excitement for their future plans by refusing to say anything about their upcoming NX. Meanwhile the Wii U is really just dead, with almost no games planned for the remainder of its lifespan. And the 3DS hardware is way old and out of date, with ...

It really seems like Nintendo is running scared these days, with all the new gaming products coming out later this year and next year (Oculus Rift, PSVR, Vive, Neo, Scorpio, etc). Nintendo just seems to be lost right now, in terms of their future gaming platforms.

The Wii U is basically dead, with almost no games coming out this year, and the successor NX releasing early next year. Emulating games just gives people who want to try out the games without having to waste money on the gimmicky hardware. It's no big deal.

Another of many reviews that tell the truth about Star Fox Zero, which is that the game is basically broken by the inclusion of forced motion controls and a distracting dual screen gimmick. Sales of Star Fox Zero have been very poor, with only 280k worldwide. Maybe this will teach Nintendo a lesson about forcing bad gimmicks into their games in the future.

Sales of Star Fox Zero were terrible, currently sitting at only 280k worldwide as of 5/14/16. No way the game has sold anywhere near 500k, it's already gotten the bulk of its sales to the few diehard fans who wanted the game no matter how bad it is.

Reviews were terrible as well, all of them mentioned the awful motion controls and awkward, distracting dual screen setup. Metacritic score is a dismal 69 overall, which is really bad. A complete disaster for Nintendo, whe...

Nintendo most certainly lost money on Star Fox Zero. The estimated total sales went from 330k as of April 30th, to 280k on May 14th (according to vgchartz). Numbers were adjusted DOWN because of poor sales, and there is no way Nintendo could have made any money with such dismal sales.

In the end, Nintendo got exactly what they deserved for releasing such a poor game. Sadly, that probably does mean that there won't be any future Star Fox games, although I could see them...

Agreed. Nintendo really should just exit the gaming hardware business permanently, and focus on software only. They really don't know how to design solid gaming hardware anymore.

Unfortunately for Nintendo, it looks like the sales of Star Fox Zero are even worse than originally estimated. VGChartz originally had an estimate of 330k worldwide as of April 30th, but the estimate as of May 14th was reduced to 280k. It's a shame that Nintendo squandered the opportunity with one of their big IPs so badly.

More likely, the Wii U was one of the worst consoles ever. Weak specs, missing features, oversized awkward gamepad gimmick, meager library of games, poor online, anti-consumer DRM, the list goes on. Far from "the most underrated console ever".

No, the biggest problem is poorly-designed, low-spec, gimmicky hardware, not just marketing (although their marketing is terrible too). Let's hope that Nintendo puts more effort into the design and development of the NX, because if they use the same approach as the original Wii and Wii U, it will most certainly be their last piece of gaming hardware.

I agree. I much prefer Burnout 3 and Revenge, some of the best arcade style racing games out there. Paradise just wasn't the same style at all, although it was certainly a great game in its own right.

Revenge is absolutely fantastic, one of my favorite arcade style racing games. But you really should try Burnout 3, it's incredible; nothing has come close to the pure adrenaline rush you get with that game.

Yes. From the kickstarter FAQ:

"Will there be a physical release of the game after it comes out?

There will indeed be a physical release of the game in the future. However, the Kickstarter-exclusive box set is a celebration for fans willing to support IGA in his time of need, so the retail version of the game will not contain any of the Kickstarter-exclusive bonus content."

Whoops, sorry. I mistakenly thought you were gamingbolt, but I should have known better when I didn't see Rashid Sayed listed as a participant. I apologize.
