Nintendo just can't compete in the home console market, I think they made the right decision by going for a powerful handheld gaming system. It's their only chance to become relevant again.
"Design it as a home console first, not a handheld, that's what the 3DS is for."
The 3DS is way ancient technology, and is on the way out. This is going to replace it.
And the screen size/quality, previous Nintendo handhelds have had pretty mediocre screens.
Being built around Tegra technology, it most certainly won't be backward compatible.
It really isn't. No physical media, no standardized hardware (CPU, GPU, RAM, controllers), not designed for easy use with TVs (yes you can just attach an HDMI cable but PCs are not typically housed in entertainment centers), etc.
They're afraid to reveal it, because they think MS and Sony will steal their brilliant ideas, like they did with the Wii U.
Oh wait, that never happened, did it?
I think they're just afraid that they'll screw it up again, which is entirely possible.
If the NX is based on a gimmick, like the Wii and Wii U before it, it probably won't. If it's a solidly designed, traditional console or handheld, it might.
Here's a better article title:
"Teamvvv.com reveals a website desperately trolling for clicks"
Last sentence of the article says it all: "Three Fields plans for its next game to be a spiritual successor to Burnout 3."
Why didn't they START with the Burnout-style game?!? *facepalm*
Unfortunately, the Burnout-style game will now probably never happen, especially if the studio folds (which it might, after poor sales of DG. 😭 ).
^^ This x 1000. Some of the employees are former Burnout devs, they really should have made some kind of arcade racing game (even boat racing like Hydro Thunder). I really don't have any interest in golf games at all.
I wish we still had the ability to downvote websites on N4G, this one would be 1 star (or less). Clickbait garbage.
The game is completely ruined now, don't even bother with it. /s
Excuses, excuses.
If it's a standard USB cable, you should be able to use a USB extension cable to make it longer. It does look like the controller cable will be fairly short.
USB extension cable?
No, because no product has been released yet.
Totally agree. The original Wii ended up being a huge disappointment, ruined by the waggle gimmick and failed to offer decent gaming experiences. The Wii U was just more of the same, and fell far short. If Nintendo bases their next console on a gimmick, they're done in the hardware gaming business.
Totally agree, Apple products are always overpriced and weaker in specs than competing android phones. There will always be a core of diehard Apple fanatics that buy their products Day One, but that core is slowly shrinking.
And regarding the article here, Nintendo isn't "making billions" from Pokemon Go, they only get a small percentage of the profits. Plus the fad will fizzle out like so many before, and the profits will dry up when that happens.
Another cheap clickbait article from a website desperate for clicks; not even gonna bother.
It's a fantastic little handheld, and you can easily get a new one for around $150 shipped (eBay or Amazon). Well worth the price (I have several 😆).
