Sadly, Nintendo hasn't produced good gaming hardware for years. They completely bungled the design of the Wii U, betting that yet another gimmick would make up for the substandard hardware. That approach worked (for a while) with the Wii, but failed miserably for the Wii U.
True gamers, as opposed to casuals and diehard Nintendo fans, don't want silly gimmicks as the centerpiece of their gaming hardware; they want solid, feature-rich systems with great specs, that wil...
LOL, funny stuff, and very true! PCs just aren't convenient for gaming on a big TV, at all.
Not clicking on crappy clickbait article. The author is clearly just looking for clicks. Downvoted the crappy article and website, everyone else should do the same.
More bewbs plz. Kthxbye.
So one single game barely fits on the "Deluxe" (lol) 32gb Wii U? What a joke.
Digital sales on Wii U are going to suffer bigtime, all because Nintendo was too cheap to include a hard drive in the console.
Really pitiful.
Too bad Nintendo didn't design a better console, considering that the Wii U released in 2012, the specs and features are really mediocre. It's clear that Nintendo bet everything on the gamepad, at the expense of the base console specs; just look at all the Nintendo promo pics of the console, the gamepad is out in front, taking all the attention, and the console is in the background, like an afterthought. That's a perfect illustration of how Nintendo views the Wii U, the gamepad ...

"it has better quality games than the other 2 consoles and the best online play, smooth with no lag and its free, no subscription just to play online."
Only in the minds of the most diehard Nintendo fanboys. The reality is far different, it's a very unappealing last gen console with a meager selection of mostly rehashed games, entire genres of games are simply missing, and the hardware is simply unable to provide a true next gener...
At this point, it really doesn't matter what kind of cheap software Nintendo puts out for the Wii U; it's not going to change the fate of the console. Had they really wanted for the system to be competitive, they should have done a much better job on the design. They left out many commonly expected features, and severely curtailed the base console specs, all to make up for the high cost of the gamepad. Take away that gimmick, and the Wii U is nothing more than a weakly upgraded last g...
Ever heard of the parity clause? Blame greedy Microsoft for this, not the developers.
Do we really need an article on N4G every time there are "connectivity issues" on PSN or XBL? Come on, what a waste of time.
U salty bro? Yeah, I think so.
MKX will run great on PS4, despite your kind of snobby "PC is teh bettar" crap. Give it a rest.
Game looks great, looking forward to playing it on PS4 and (hopefully) Vita!
The "original" Rock n' Roll Racing never came out in the arcade, it was for the Genesis and SNES. You must be thinking of a different game.
Edit: You're thinking of Super Off Road, which did hit the arcades. The game in this article really isn't a proper sequel to Rock n' Roll Racing, at all.
Edit2: Just noticed that the game is called Rock n' Racing (no "Roll"), what a ripoff name. Has nothing to do with the great ...
Unfortunately, when it comes to a customer's rights regarding digital ownership, Nintendo is way, way behind the curve. Their harsh anti-consumer DRM makes it not worth buying ANY digital content from them, unless you're prepared to lose it.
If your console is lost or stolen, you lose all your digital purchases, period. Nintendo won't restore those purchases to you, because they're greedy and they don't trust their customers. They think people are going...
@ ABizzel1
Very well written comment, you hit the nail on the head with your points.
Wii U owners act like the only difference between the Wii U and the X1/PS4 is the internal storage. Wii U only has a pitiful 32gb, while the true next-gen consoles both have 500gb.
In reality, Nintendo completely gimped the design of the Wii U, to accommodate the high cost of the gamepad. They either cut back or entirely removed many features/specifications...
That's a very anemic, sad little list considering that the Wii U has been out for over TWO YEARS.
And unless you're a diehard Nintendo fan who simply must have every Mario game made, most of those games are very unappealing.
Wow, this is like the third article begging people to buy a crappy 8gb Wii U system, the ones that Nintendo can't even give away, due to the dismally small internal storage.
No, there are many, many REASONS (not excuses) NOT to buy a Wii U, no matter what model it is; the system is just not worth what they are asking for it, at all.
The 8gb should cost around $125, the 32gb maybe $175; for the tech inside of these consoles, they really just aren't wor...
In many respects, it isn't at all:
- Non internal HDD or even a bay for one (both previous consoles had internal HDDs at launch, both were upgradeable).
- Weak CPU, probably weaker than both the PS3 and 360 CPUs (thus the problems with Wii U's inability to handle multiplats coming from both of those consoles)
- No Ethernet port (how cheap can you get?)
- No analog triggers (a necesssity for racing games, all other consoles had analog triggers, ...
Nintendo only has themselves to blame for the failure of the Wii U; they followed the same formula as the Wii (underpowered, generation-behind console with a gimmick thrown in to reel people in), but unlike the Wii, it failed this time. The Age of Gimmicks may be finally coming to an end, let's hope Nintendo goes back to its roots and designs a genuinely solid gaming system next time.
I still have my original NES, SNES, N64, and GBA SP, and hundreds of games for those, ...
@ wonderfulmonkeyman
Those old tired excuses, blaming 3rd party developers when it's really the crappy Wii U hardware at fault, really don't fly anymore. I know that you're the biggest apologist for Nintendo's poor products on this site, always there making excuses for their bungled products, but it's really sad that you can't step up and acknowledge the many mistakes Nintendo has made over the years.
The Wii U really isn't more po...
