It's a shame, the last two consoles from Nintendo really have been poorly designed and lacking in even the most basic features. Both the Wii and Wii U were completely designed around gimmicks, and both consoles were far behind the other consoles of their generations.
The Wii was a huge fad among casual gamers, and sold very well for a time, but the fad fizzled years ago when casuals became bored with it and moved on. The waggle gimmick really didn't make up for the...
Just another example of forcing gimmicky use of the gamepad, just because it's there. It really distracts from gameplay rather than adding to it.
And if people want a map or inventory on a regular console, they just press a button, and it's immediately there on the TV. No reason for a second screen.
It's a shame Nintendo poured so many resources into the gamepad, leaving the console itself severely gimped and unable to handle current generatio...
@ Roccetarius
They don't just "buy keys in bulk", read the article. They buy keys from other regions (like Russia) to circumvent regional pricing policies, then resell those keys to higher-cost regions. They are taking advantage of these pricing differences, causing the publishers to lose money.
Read this last part of the article: "Those furious about Ubisoft deactivating their codes don’t have Ubisoft to blame, they have G2A or the pers...
The simple answer is, don't buy keys from shady sites. Stick with places like Steam, Amazon, Gamestop, and the legit bundle resellers like Humble Bundle.
With websites like G2A, pcgamesupply, and others, you really don't know how they obtain their keys (and why they can sell them at such discounted prices). What if they are obtaining keys with stolen CCs, or laundered drug/terrorist money? Would you want to support those kinds of activities?
I tota...
Wow dude, you are the biggest pro-Nintendo damage-controller/excuse-maker on this site, bar none. They can do no wrong according to you, everything they do is brilliant. Unfortunately, the reality is that Nintendo's gimmicky, underpowered, feature-lacking hardware has been junk for many years, and their anemic library which is completely lacking in entire genres of games is pitiful. They rehash the same games over and over and over, they don't innovate at all, they deliberately set...
Too bad the hardware sucks.
Sounds like a bunch of weak damage control to me, Nintendo completely blew it this gen, let's hope they can come up with something better next one (if they do even release anything, after the disastrous Wii U).
Too bad they have the WORST hardware, ruined by silly gimmicks and much too weak to run any remotely current-gen stuff. The Wii U is really more on par with the 360/PS3, and the world has moved on from that generation.
Nintendo is always one generation behind, since the Wii. Pretty sad stuff.
The Wii U/Wii are "hit with insult and bile" because they are junk products, lacking in even the most common features and far behind the other consoles of their generations. Both consoles were ruined by silly gimmicks that Nintendo forced into the systems to reel in sales and make up for the incredibly poor hardware designs. The Wii as a console died years before the PS3 and 360 (which are both still being supported even now), when the cheap waggle fad fizzled out. The Wii U is a...
So funny how diehard Nintendo fans whine and complain about the lack of games on the Wii U, but when games are actually released, they simply don't buy them. The Wii U is a Nintendo game machine, nothing more. It's fans really only want Nintendo's first party games, but sadly those are not enough to make the console succeed, thus the anemic sales.
No wonder 3rd party developers abandoned the Wii U, just not worth the effort. Bayonetta 2 is a perfect example of w...
I have one 64gb in my "digital only" Vita, one 32gb in my "cart only" vita, and one 32gb in my PSTV. Would love to get a 128gb if Sony would release one, because my 64gb card has only about 3gb free right now, and I have no room at all on my PSTV card. Too many fantastic games, not enough space.
@wonderfulmonkeyman
The Truth hurts, doesn't it? Apparently I struck a nerve and, instead of trying to address the facts I laid out, you resorted to an immature personal attack. Proof that you have no rational response to my statements, and all your rambling posts here on N4G are nothing more than damage control to shore up a failed piece of hardware, from a company that lost its way a long time ago.
Very sad!
As usual, your wall-of-text posts are always damage control for Nintendo's substandard products. Instead of acknowledging the real reason for the Wii U's poor sales, you point fingers at 3rd party developers for not using the gimmicky gamepad, or not getting better performance out of inadequate hardware.
Take all your excuses and damage control away, and all that remains is the cold hard truth: the Wii U design simply falls way short, leaving out commonly expected fe...
Can't believe anyone would waste money on the cheap, tacky, Fisher-Price-like 2DS. It really looks like a system made for 5-year-olds, ugly wedge design. Cheap junk.
None of those games seem exciting at all, really. Sad stuff.
Yep, PeeWee league, lol.
They left out the Wii U from this comparison? Oh right it's a last gen console, makes sense.
And about 15 million for lifetime sales, sounds about right. Development should be tapering off heavily by 2016, new console in 2017.
Let's hope that the next Nintendo console isn't crippled by gimmicks like the last two were, then maybe they'll do better in the future.
Best way to improve the Wii U, is dump it and move on to a real next-gen console. The Age of Gimmicks is dead, time for Nintendo to just focus on solid gaming hardware (with a traditional controller) in the future.
Sadly, the Wii U was "over" the day it released. Nintendo didn't plan for a long future for the console, by severly gimping the specs to accommodate the gimmicky gamepad. No internal HDD (or even a bay for one), only a measly 2gb of RAM (with only 1gb available for games), weak CPU, weak GPU, no ethernet port, no DVD/bluray support, the list goes on and on. They really did cut back in every possible area of the base console, to make up for the high cost of the gimmickpad.4144d ago 8 agree17 disagreeView comment
