So, you must have access to some kind of insider information about a new handheld to be announced at E3? Please share, otherwise I think it's highly doubtful that any kind of new handheld is in the works, anytime soon.
Nintendo has enough to worry about with the poor sales of the Wii U and declining sales of the 3DS, I seriously doubt that they are considering releasing new gaming hardware in the near future. And even if they were planning something like that soon, it w...
I agree, when I first saw the tags for this article, I assumed that the game wasn't coming to PS4. Having that tag omitted is either simple sloppiness, or deception.
Then you must not like portable games in general. My launch Vita has over 100 games on it digitally, and I also have about 40 retail games. More than enough great games to play with for a long time to come. The Vita is a fantastic little handheld, the best ever released. Doesn't matter to me if there aren't a ton of AAA big budget games out for it, there are still many other great smaller games available.
A better title for this article would have been "Five Unnecessary Gimmicks to Waste Money on for your Wii U".
I mean, what other console forces you to buy extra controllers to play games in a normal fashion, without the bulky tablet-wannabe controller? And why didn't Nintendo put a half-decent battery in the Wii U gamepad to begin with, instead offering an expensive replacement battery later to milk their fans?
And amiibos, really? Those are f...
Are you getting the LE version, or just standard? How about the Future Press guide? I ordered the guide from Amazon, now I'm debating whether to get the LE or standard edition. The game looks absolutely fantastic!
Wow that logo image at the top of the article looks beyond ugly. And the character designs are just awful, they look like preschool art. No wonder there aren't any FPS games on Wii U, if this is the best Nintendo can do. Just awful.
@ kwander
You really need to see how much worse the Wii U is than the much better current generation consoles? Surely by now you've seen all that info?
Graphics bandwith :
PS4: 800Mhz AMD GPU w/1152 shaders 1.84 TeraFLOPS
Xbox One: 853MHz AMD GPU w/768 shaders 1.31 TeraFLOPS
Wii U: 550MHz AMD GPU w/320 shaders, 0.352 TeraFLOPS
So Wii U is far, far below the others there.
CPU:
First, the PS3 has 512mb total RAM, not 256mb.
Second, trying to compare the Wii U, a console released in 2012, with a console that came out SIX YEARS before it, is really just very sad.
Wii U as a console is severely gimped, having a measly 2gb of RAM, of which only 1gb is available for games. Nintendo really cut every possible corner they could, with the base Wii U console, to accommodate the high cost of the gamepad. They scaled back the RAM, the CPU is ...
Why bother? All Wii games were ruined by the waggle controller, requiring people to spastically wave their hands around to play games. That's why the Wii died years ago, whereas the PS3 and XBox 360 are still going strong; the fad fizzled out.
We already know what Iwata will say at the next financial results briefing: "Please understand".
Yet another silly gimmick from a company that relies entirely on gimmicks to survive these days, smh. Too bad they can't actually focus on, you know, making better gaming hardware and actual new games, instead of the endless rehashes they release these days.
How far the formerly mighty Nintendo has fallen!
An app for Miis to salvage the dying Wii U? Wow, what is Nintendo thinking? They're beyond desperate.
Miis are already an embarrassing part of Nintendo's ecosystem, just another example of how out of touch this company is with reality.
On a side note, the picture of Iwata holding the bananas is perfect for this article, lol.
What a scam. Buy a $13 kiddie toy, and it unlocks a game demo? Talk about milking their fans, Nintendo has to be the worst.
Don't bother with this clickbait article people, it isn't even worth the time or effort to read. Just another desperate fanboy/"author" trying to get clicks with useless opinions, nothing more.
And yet most Microsoft employees, including Phil Spencer himself, admit that DX12 isn't going to make a big difference in XB1 games:
"On the DX12 question, I was asked early on by people if DX12 is gonna dramatically change the graphics capabilities of Xbox One and I said it wouldn’t. I’m not trying to rain on anybody’s parade, but the CPU, GPU and memory that are on Xbox One don’t change when you go to DX12. DX12 makes it easier to do some of the things that Xbox O...
You mean one analog stick and one cheesy little pencil eraser nub. Not "two analog sticks" at all.
Leave it to Nintendo to come up with yet another half-assed "upgrade", they've done it many times in the past.
The biggest bungle with the XB1 was the decision to force the Kinect gimmick in every console bundle, and require it to use the system. Clearly, forcing Kinect with every console required MS to scale back the specs of the base console (due to the high cost of the peripheral), and that has damaged the XB1's ability to compete this generation.
Had they focused more on delivering the best possible console for the money, without the Kinect gimmick attached, they'd be in a...
It was a dumb idea anyway, like most of Nintendo's gimmicks. No big loss.
Yeah, Nintendo really needs to just pull the plug on the Wii U, and start over from scratch. They bungled the design so badly, there's no way to salvage anything from it.
As for the 9 million people who bought into the gimmick, well they really should have known better. It was clear from the beginning that the Wii U was severely gimped in specs, and lacking in even the most basic features. Nowhere to go but down from there.
Thanks for the article, pressa2join! I've been playing BBR on mobile for a while now, and really like the arcade style racing and bright, colorful graphics. Looking forward to buying this on PS4, so glad VU didn't make it FTP on consoles! Now we can get the best version of the game, without the micro transactions, on day 1, and also enjoy this great arcade racer on the big screen!
