It actually is not very different from DVD situation.

DeCSS (and others) cracked at least some of the DVD decryption keys, and there was no way to fix (and remain compatible with older players) by the studios.

BluRay (and late HD-DVD) uses revokable keys, which allows manufacturers to disable the keys for the older versions of the players for new movies, thus giving them a fighting edge. This happened several times, making cracked keys useless for new releases.

SF4 is available on arcades in Japan. So in that sense it's out (but not yet available here).

Choosing either MGS4 or GOW2 would anger 360 or PS3 fans, respectively. So they apparently decided on a multiplatform title.

Sometimes politics chooses the poorest among the candidates as the "acceptable".

(Note: In my opinion GTAIV is a good game, but had better competition this year)

All of them switched to a test signal for me. Does it mean it's starting soon?

For Turok, I could not even stand 1 minute of the Demo. Why should I even bother to try the game at all?

Also the Lost Odyssey, while an interesting and good game in general, became very repetitive at the end. I could barely stand playing to finish it. I don't think many other people would be able to do that.

Edit: There is level cap in areas of Lost Odyssey. This causes you having lower than enough level for a new area, if the previous one had a small cap. (For exam...

The convenience of Games for Windows, and the Xbox controller with it is really nice. you don't have it on Linux. I accept that.

However looking at http://appdb.winehq.org/ (which is not game optimized, these is a more game centric version also), I see that:
* World of WarCraft + latest expansion
* Steam (yeah, I'm repeating these)
* The Witcher
* Command & Conquer 3
* Final Fantasy Onlin...

You can do games in Linux. Some companies (like ID software) provides Linux binaries, some others run thru Wine (WoW, Steam, and many others are actually "partially" acknowledged by the game companies), and you can access a large library of emulators (Arcade games, GBA, PS, adventure games, and many others).

Are you sure, you really want this.

GameStop may be a greedy example, but they're not the only used game source in the town.

You'll no longer be able to lend your games to your friends, trade them on goozex (which is one of the best sites btw), sell them on eBay, rent them on GameFly (or BlockBuster, or others), and so on. I hope you get the idea.

It will hurt gamers on a budget a lot, a really big lot.

not all the games on 360 are region free. you can check online forums or wiki pages (like this http://wiki.xboxic.com/Regi... ) to find out whether a specific game is region free or not.

OR... N4G says it is: http://www.n4g.com/xbox360/...

For me it was Dead Space > MGS4 > Gears of War 2 > all

But all of them were great games, nevertheless this was a good year for us gamers.

That means PS3 only had one non-multi-platform game that interested me. What's wrong with that?

6389d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

You can buy a used PS3, and MGS4, and sell them after finishing the game. If you include the 15% cashback offer of eBay/Microsoft, it comes down to be free (or you might even make a small amount of money).

I did that, and it was really worth the effort. (Btw, I ended up buying another PS3, but that's another story).

"the reason why I don't own one is because I'm scared of it breaking."

If that's all, you do not need to worry. With the 3 years RROD warranty + latest chipsets it's a much better investment right now.

I had my Xbox serviced (no RROD, actually I found out I was over worried), but the replacement came in less than a week. (The coffin took 3-4 days too, so around 10 days total).

Just do not call the customer service, but go to xbox.com. They hav...

From the forum (also mentioned in the article):

"I wanted to let you know that we have investigated this situation and the evidence overwhelmingly supported an achievement reset. Our commitment to supporting safe, secure and satisfactory gameplay for the more than 14 million members of the Xbox LIVE community remains a top priority. Microsoft will continue to employ and bolster anti-cheating policies to counter such activity."

There was a link to his achiev...

"It's hard to get sales on a BRAND NEW IP"

But from your listing, Dead Space is a new IP too, but it had very very good reception. I know they do not appeal to the same audience, but Dead Space satisfied the audience (me!), but LBP had not generated enough intensive to buy.

I think I'm one of the few ones that actually followed the story dialogues, and read the collectible notes around. If you do that the story really feels good.

Still plenty of open things are around, though. Especially the lab, and Marcus' father make me believe humans have actually built Locust through mutation (to make them immulsion resilient, or something). But we'll have to wait for GOW 3 to see that.

It's interesting. I wonder whether you even have 360s to begin with.

FYI: I had also installed the famous 2.40 update [ http://www.bit-tech.net/new... ], and my PS3 worked flawlessly too.

But if you're are so afraid, don't update.

I currently enjoy NXE without any problems. I believe the issues are "exaggerated", and only major one (sound) has a workaround.

Think about it this way, if only 0.1% of 360 owners had issues, that makes ~25K unhappy people. Although that's a minor statistic, game critics will love to focus on these ones (for higher ratings of course).

Just upgrade, and enjoy your new features (I especially like Netflix).

The old interface used to have very long load times for my game list (tons of arcade games, and demos). This being the most annoying, it was also slow in many other places, too.

Now it's much faster. I think this counts as a very big positive.

You can choose the default, and skip customizing.

But on the other hand, it's fun to customize them (yep I tried).
