Windows 7 is compatible with my games (I think I have 50+ on my Steam list alone), and also is pretty fast.

It comes free from my university, too. Thus the choice is clear.

Except for Sims 3, the descriptions looks like plenty of Wii or Sports games.

Still waiting for the black Friday...

I've not seen a single region locked PS3 game disc up to date (except for PS2 BC of course).

However we cannot know how Sega negotiates with Sony. I personally would dislike if it passed through. :(

MS has the publishing rights to this game, and unlike Braid, they would not let any ports.

This is better than many $60 titles out there!

Were you playing on Easy or Normal? RAAM is definitely not hard to kill otherwise.

"was like wtf at the end of gears the boss was pathetic and killed realy easy, massive anticlimax"

I'll just wait for the games to be featured on "Deal of the Week" hopefully for at least 40% off.

They did it with several high profile titles (including Penny Arcade adventures), why not do it with games on demand?

Both ATI and nVidia should have stable Windows 7 drivers. I no longer have any nVidia powered machines left, but all my ATI ones are running perfectly.

Also it could be a player issue. Did you try alternate video players (VLC, Media Player Classic, etc)?

Anyways, I rarely see any blue screens on 7 (except when my RAM chips failed, but it was not an OS issue).

There is nothing stoping *you* from making one. And Microsoft is making it very easy by giving away free development tools, tutorials, and competition that results in professional publishing. :)

But if you don't feel up to the standards, please at least do not criticize other people's efforts for not doing exactly what you want.

Revenue is the total income, but profit also takes the costs into account.

None of us can know the exact development costs on the consoles (unless we're working in a publisher), but my understanding of previous Activision comment was they were unhappy about relative profit margins in PS3, and hoping to make enough noise to bring the prices down.

While I find the power of the GPU fascinating (having a good one myself), I know it cannot replace PS3 (or 360 in that manner).

Edit: removed technical stuff

Yes, as far as I know, it should be "theoretically" faster than the Cell CPU + PS3 GPU.

But only for mass number crunching. Not general purpose operations.

Edit: GPU can be used for "other stuff" too. For example nVidia runs PhysX accelerator in GPU shaders. Also there are "stream processing" libraries (gpgpu.org) which makes programming them easier.

"A 4870 costs about $150 and has 2-3 times more power than the GPU inside the PS3 or 360."

Actually 4870 packs 2-3 times more power than the CPU+GPU of those consoles (in terms of raw power).

A nice comparison for folding@home is at http://fah-web.stanford.edu... . It could be a good benchmark, since they optimize their real life number crunching algorithm on all platfo...

You don't need to buy all the stuff on XBLA. Many of them are not worth what they cost, and I find some not worth for even if they were $5.

However there are so many good gems, that I'd gladly pay $10-$15 without thinking. Even the remaining $20 ones get a discount once in a while (I bought Penny Arcade for 800 pts when it was on discount). So basically I'm fine.

(I think I'll get Shadow Complex day one, even if it were $20, that really is an exception).

Why wouldn't they? A simple port of Worms had been in top 10 sellers list of arcade games for many many many weeks, providing them some "breathing space" as a small developer. And after the second game they had two top 10 sellers!

This was basically providing them "easy money" to be able to work on future projects (like Alien Breed!), and they have decided to do some "thanking" by making it a timed exclusive.

And it's not a big deal, PS3...

Anything except Activision is fine in my opinion.

EA has redeemed itself for me (especially with Dead Space, and upcoming Brutal Legend)

I agree. It will be great.

I had a small doubt that MS would add some "last minute stuff" and break all the goodness, but fortunately there will be no more changes :)

[sarcasm on]
So let's debuff "Windows 7 myths", and write a negative article (so we get more hits, and more ad revenue).

Let's not use a decent computer. Boy, let's not even waste $20 to upgrade our 2 gig machine to 4 gigs, thus Windows 7 will start to shine, no!

Let's find a few application where Windows 7 performs (although slightly) worse than XP. Hmmm there was an entensive review that said Crysis is one those. Let's compare Crysis then. (And not ...

Not in the movie sense, but as having a large follow up way. It comes both in more core stuff (novels, prequels, etc), and also some things I don't actually like (Master Chief Cereal!, ok we're not there yet, but I think it will be done some day).

I like an expanded universe. For example games like KOTOR are possible because of this.

The quote is now making more and more sense. (Originally from http://www.nytimes.com/2007... )

Microsoft is turning the Halo franchise to something that will last for a long time. Congrats to Bungie for bringing us this good series!
