our (world's) poor economy cannot sustain that many jobs, and these people will probably have a hard time finding a replacement job in this environment, too.
it's no laughing material.
When done correctly qte can be a nice thing. I did not have a chance to try Ninja Blade yet, but if what people are telling is true it's a mix of Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry, and God of War, which are all good games (and GOW uses QTE a lot, no complaints here).
Hope this game turns out to be good.
Many people were satisfied with it, and I think that's what counts. The game may have glitches, yes every game can have them. As long as it's not breaking the experience (looking at alone in the dark), it's no big problem.
steam is the way to go. it offers so much benefits that i forget it's a form of drm itself.
Don't you agree that Amazon or XBL provides that amount of downloads:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/he...
Purchased videos can be downloaded to two compatible offline viewing devices, Purchased videos can be downloaded to two compatible offline viewing devices
plus there is a web viewing option, making a total of 5 (actually making infinite).
The Wii hardware is slightly better than an (original) Xbox of the last generation. Still it sells in crazy numbers.
I think console popularity has become inversely proportional to hardware power.
That's the only explanation remaining. It seems to be unaffected by the amount of games, or average game quality. Even the price is not the main factor.
We're in strange times, indeed.
This year (2008) was very good for us gamers, and it seems like 2009 will be only better. I think it's safe to wait for until Feb-March when MS will reveal more of next year's pipeline (like 2008's GDC).
As a side note, while I prefer 360 as main gaming medium, I don't mind going multi-platform for occasional must have titles (like MGS4). This will allow me to enjoy both Alan Wake and Heavy Rain (or whichever turns out to be better). :)
i fail to see any connection here. if you liked the game, it's good for you, but there is no need to bash, or make "flamewar" calls.
it's your brain blacking out due to blood loss, and seeing hallucinations.
(yep, this makes more sense) :)
but honestly, as long as the game is fun, it does not matter.
but only 200mb of that is the "real" ram, video ram works as swap device. I honestly did not try the latest version, but i don't think it will be as good as straight 512mb (actually it adds up to less than 450mb in total)
Wow they have a good start:
You need an Xbox with a kernel version of 4532 or 4548. ... If you already have a newer version, there is nothing you can do right now.
I'd really like Linux on 360. (Don't take personally) PS3 only provides 200MB ram for Linux, and frankly nothing modern runs on it. A 512MB offering would be nice.
But still this news affects only newer version 360's (and unfortunately does not help Linux). (always being negative) :) (The reason I do...
I remember that, hacking
* PS1 allowed VCD playback, and enhanced menus
* Dreamcast, original Xbox, and several others use as standard Linux machine
* PSP as a very versatile handheld
* Wii, DS and many others also bring "homebrew" functionality
however the only thing hacking a 360 allows is using illegally copied games (do not bring the backup argument, please). thus I find these news not good at all for us gamers.
It really get cumbersome in shooters. I tried a little bit socom but gave up. Unable to control the camera and the movement separately makes it less enjoyable.
I think the developer is the one who chooses the price here:
http://creators.xna.com/en-...
Unless of course the "fireplace" takes 150MB disk space (then the minimum price becomes 400 MS points). And I've yet to see one single good comment about the price. He'll probably come to senses and make it right. (i.e.: cheaper)
Wish my history could be that clean, but I no longer touch any pirated game now.
Having the ability to run custom software = GOOD (might hack my PSP one day)
Misusing it to steal games = BAD, really BAD
Come on, with services like Steam, online shops like Amazon and GoGamer discounting games all the time, and Goozex for easy game trades, it no longer can be an "economical" reason any more.
sorry for the caps lock :)
(my advice to you: do not play the game if you find it unworthy, but please let's keep on topic. Caring for SDTV users is a good thing, and that was the topic)
The helicopter rescue part, after you finish the main target in the sniper (all gheeled up?) level was really frustrating. I almost gave up the game there. (Yep it was also all random).
But those kind of situations bring a lot of satisfaction (after you beat them, of course).
I don't think people will use this software to pirate, while bittorrent sites provides already ripped movies (in dvd size mkv chunks).
But this really opens the path to backups, and playing on alternate operating systems (linux). The only way for Linux to play DVDs "was" using DeCSS software for a long while. A similar one for HD-DVD/BluRays exist, and I don't think BluRay consortium will allow a Linux program in a short timeframe.
