But isn't origin mandatory to play BF3?

No Lumines?

I understand your point, but I think (hope) that in the end, Blizzard's decision will be worth it. When the final expansion comes out, I think I'll replay through WoL and HotS before starting the final chapter. That way, it'll feel more natural to me.

I guess you could, if you really have the patience, wait until the last expansion before playing HotS. Something I couldn't do.

Were the games reviewed by the same person? If not, isn't it possible one person enjoyed more kinectimals than another enjoyed The Heist?

Have you played both games? And if so, would it be so hard for you to accept that someone other than you could actually enjoy this game more than Payday?

Reviews are subjective. If you were to ask me which is the better game between Gran Turismo 5/Forza 4 and Kane and Lynch 2 : Dog days, I'd say Kane and Lynch 2 bec...

You'd rather have one game with three short campaigns than three complete ones, which is in itself something I can understand. But then you say that you wish they would spend more time working on the single player of the game.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but doing three complete single player modes makes it seem like they do care about the story and the StarCraft universe to me.

And about the swapping perspective argument, both WarCraft and StarCraf...

Makes sense to keep them unranked though. I assume dedicated servers will be used to create custome games not possible in matchmaking, in which XP would be earned way faster than in any "normal" game found in the matchmaking,

If you've played MW2 and had the Rust/Domination matchmaking bug, you know what I mean.

If anything, people will have to level in matchmaking, which I believe is fine, and when they're bored with regular games, they can...

Loved the pandaren brewmaster in WarCraft 3, might be worth a look when it comes out. I'll have to see if I still have a few friends playing though.

All three games you mentioned combined sold less than Black Ops. And they also generated less profit than a year of World of WarCraft.

I'm not saying they're bad games, nor did they have poor sales, but it just can't be compared to CoD and WoW.

Activision, just like any corporation, including EA, Microsoft or Sony, is in the business to make money. Why would they invest in low return games when these are highly unlikely to come even close to CoD i...

I wonder, are CoD and WoW the only thing Activision has because they only make these games, or because gamers didn't bother for the most part to buy some of their original IPs like Singularity?

Another thing I'd like to point out, is that StarCraft and Diablo are not, as far as I know "Call of Duty and WoW", yet are two IPs in Activision's catalog.

And when you think about it, most successful publishers rely on a few strong franchises. ...

Why is it that these days, every game needs to be compared to another game. Can't we just agree that both game are awesome and that they both have pros and cons?

I remember when Gears of War and Resistance came out, gamers and game journalists were comparing these two games, despite the fact that one was a third person shooter while the other on is a first person shooter, these two games wer just being compared for the sake of comparison.

InFamous vs Prot...

Bringing back the NFL Blitz franchise is a great idea, I'm just not too sure about having it developed by EA. I fear they will go and either make a mediocre game like NHL 3 on 3 arcade, or try to make it too much the the latest NFL blitz games (like Blitz Pro). I hope they realize that the best NFL Blitz games were the ones released around 2000.

And, since it would seem EA is willing to revive this franchise, they might want to go and take a look at their own catalog, as ...

It would appear these are global numbers for GT5, but Black ops' do not include Europe, middle east and Asia (Japan and Asia being separate statistics).

I could be wrong, but I believe the data provided by wikipedia on this matter is incomplete. I would also add that BO's sales data foind on wikipedia are coming from the invisible walls podcast on gametrailers, since I haben't listened to this particular one, I don't know where they took their data, but I'...

Hmm, not so sure about that, I'm pretty sure Black Ops is the best selling game on X360 and PS3.

4 of them are good games, played Warhawk a lot back when it was released (and let's face it, back then PS3 owners didn't have that much to play if they wanted an online shooters, we basically had Warhawk and R:FoM). Folklore is definately my favorite game on this list, surprised to see it didn't sell more than that.

As for Heavenly Sword, it was a great game back when it got out, but considering the biggest thing it had going for it were the graphics and the story...

I seriously hope they don't do it, and I hope they don't really think it will work. I think BF3 will do very well sale-wise, as the game looks great and has received some nice marketing from EA. I'm prety sure it will take quite some sales away from CoD, despite the fact that this year's CoD is probably the biggest one since CoD4:MW.

However, I highly doubt a new MoH game will have the same kind of success, if next year's title from EA is MoH2, I think sa...

Of course you won't find the same games on a phone, but a lot of people don't need these games. Out of the 150 million+ DS owners (well, probably less since some people have bought more than on DS in its lifetime), you probably have roughly 50% of them who just want to play cooking mama and tetris, which are games that will play just as well on a touchscreen. Phones are also starting to get s decent collection of turn based games, the War of Eustrath is, for example, a much better SRP...

It is indeed unlikely we'll see a handheld sell as well as the DS anytime soon, mostly with alot of people playing games on smartphones/tablets/PMPs. While DS/PSP/3DS/Vita games have more depth than most phone games, you can't deny that alot of the people who bought a DS or a PSP last generation now have an iPhone or something similar, and don't plan on buying either the 3DS or the Vita. Let's not forget that the DS and the PSP got a lot of their sales from "casual" ...

PSOne games can be played on iPhone via emulation, they can also be played on PSP, and unlike PS2 emulation, it doesn't require any particular chip (the PS3 can play PSOne games), so I find it quite ridiculous to think the Vita which has a very similar architecture to today's smartphones, and is also much more powerful than the PSP, can't play PSOne games... Hell, the Xperia play can play them!

So, you can either say that CoD has no excuse for not being a great looking game, or you could also say that other games have no excuse for not being 60fps.

Yet, for some reason, the author chose to go with the former, and ignored the latter.

While the author does have a point that RAGE proved 60fps with great graphics can be achieved on consoles, his subjectivity makes me think he's simply yet another person on the CoD-hate bandwagon.

Borderlands having more variety in enemies? There were like 10 enemy types in Borderlands, maybe less, all they did is change their colour, their size and added some prefix or suffix to the name to make you realize it's not the same enemy you fought 5 hours earlier in the game.

And, while I respect your opinion, I'd much rather have humanoid enemies rather than having yet another game ruined by non human enemies (Psi-Ops The Mindgate Conspiracy immediately comes to mi...
