I think you'll find Steam has been around a lot longer than XBL and PSN and was fairly successful before they came around. More and more publishers use it nowadays but I think that is more because they would be stupid not to, rather than anything to do with consoles.
Lol, bubbles to you.
Pre purchased on Steam weeks ago :-)
I've recently become a bit of a PC fanboy, dunno why, I've had the same rig for 4 years now but never really gamed on it. I built it to play Crysis, played Crysis then went back to the PS3.
But recently, with some of the cracking offers on Steam, and the fact that I want to play Crysis 2 on the PC I've been well back into PC gaming, I havent touched the PS3 in weeks!
Just ordered my new graphics card too, so its PC gaming all the way from now on. Thanks mostly to...
You cant buy used on PC, but you can just wait for a crazy Steam weekend sale.
I got Mafia 2 for £5 a couple of weeks back, and it would have been £10 with all the DLC packs too. And this week I got Darksiders for £5, these are both games I kinda wanted but was never gonna pay full price for, Steam sales ftw!
So no you cant buy used but deals like that are better than buying used, just gotta wait them out though.
I think everyone's missing the point here, he's complaining about no singleplayer DLC, not having to pay for DLC.
I agree with him too, I wouldn't say I was getting fed up of multiplayer but I do find myself longing for longer and deeper single player campaigns these days. So a little campaign DLC would be nice.
True, I have an 8800gt and it still runs games better than current consoles, and its old.
Just ordered a GT460 though, a decent up grade without bursting the bank ;-)
I think its actually about time console devs stopped trying to push the technical boundaries and start focusing on game play! The PS2/Xbox/GameCube era wasnt that awesome graphically but by christ it produced some of the most fun and original games around.
This gen it has mostly been all about teh graphics, gameplay and originality have been after thoughts. Once devs realise that there is no more they can do with graphics and such like, then maybe they'll start to focus on origin...
Thing is though, there's a difference between a fanboy and a troll. People who go into 360 or PS3 related articles just to bash are trolls not fanboys.
Fanboys I can tolerate, because I can often be guilty of being one. Trolls I cannot stand.
@danger. Calm down chief, I wasn't saying you were a troll, I was just saying that fanboys are fine, trolls are not. I think we all know who the trolls are on N4G.
Like you I am a PS3 only owner as far as console...
He's probably just a mental patient like my brother. He has 8tb of hdd space all running in some crazy mirror raid mode.
Overkill at its finest lol
I would have thought the final release would have individual settings. I kinda hoped the simple 3 options were just for the demo. Oh well, we shall find out soon enough.
Lol, I played CS for the first time in ages the other night and got mega raped! I swear some people who play it are Jedi's! Still feckin awesome though.
In my personal opinion, Half Life 2 wears the crown, all others are just pretending. But hey most console fanboys won't agree with that cause they've likely never played it.
@xtream.
I wish I could agree with you twice, bubbles to you.
Totally agree with this. I think people were expecting some kind of miracle. It is still in the top 5 best looking games on both consoles and I'm sure any stability issues will be fixed.
Look how broken the first 360 beta was and they fixed that. I'm sure the PS3 version will be fine at launch, or shortly thereafter.
And yes BC2's graphics aren't all that, its a great game, but it ain't exactly the prettiest.
Not really, I've done loads of good shits. You know the ones, when you've been holding it in for ages and then finally you get to drop it, man, they're great shits!
It's not so much resurgance of the fun shooter. Just more like the death of generic modern army man shooters. Been done to death recently.
The 360 version looks more vibrant because of the higher contrast settings, the same effect could easily be achieved on PC and PS3 with some tweeking of contrast and brightness settings.
Fact is though, the PC version looks better on my PC than those pics, and the PS3 version looked worse on my TV than those pics, so these comparison images are worthless. Everyone has their monitors/TV's set up differently so comparisons are moot unless you do them yourself on your own set up. (o...
Oh well, looks like its new graphics card time. Even with my relatively old graphics card it still looks a lot better on the PC. Anyone who disagrees is either a very blind fanboy or has never played the PC version.
I'm actually pretty disappointed with the PS3 version, its rough and the lighting is garbage compared to the PC version. I feel kinda sorry for any ps3 only owners. And no 360 fanboy, don't go celebrating cause you're version doesn't come close to the PC ei...
You can use a gamepad on the PC. It's not that much of a disadvantage, I played the Crysis 2 demo on PC with a 360 pad, and I was still near the top in every match, I played it with M&K and was still the same. Obviously I had aim assist on with the pad but my point remains.
I have my PC plugged in to my TV, and I sit back on my couch, controller in hand playing games on my PC. So yes, pretty much what kramun said.
