Even though I don't necessarily agree with him wholeheartedly, I can see and respect where he's coming from. Part of it might be that JRPGs have been very slow coming to the PS3. Another part of it would be that gamers are waiting for some revolutionary new gameplay experiences with the current-generation of consoles, and I do agree that we don't see many things that "wow" us on a gameplay level nowadays. A lot of today's games are graphical updates and tweaks on the same formulas+f...
People seem to get confused when I say that this is MY personal GotY, and that no other game looks as promising to me this year. I am in fact in no way saying that it WILL definitely win GotY--in fact, I'm pretty sure it won't--but, rather, I personally feel it deserves to.
Just my opinion people. Don't get your panties up in a bunch if I don't agree with you on YOUR pick (which is undoubtedly some platform exclusive).
The PS3's ability to pre-install and cache some data on the hard drive (i.e., virtual memory) basically negates any advantage whatsoever that the 360 has with its supposedly faster DVD read speed. Of course, the only more-or-less minor disadvantage there is one has to cope with a couple extra minutes of hard drive installs.
And before some people bring it up, the 360's ability to install an entire disc onto the hard drive is NOT a substitute for the PS3's selective/smart, develop...
Any developer worth his salt isn't going to say that the PS3 holds back the 360. At least, not anymore. And I would like to think that id Software is a technically competent developer.
I don't understand why Carmack said one thing, and now all of a sudden Tim Willits is saying another. I could've sworn Carmack said MS charges royalties for multiple discs. It's as if some Microsoft execs pulled id aside and gave them a talking to about the greater interests.
Yes, I think it is.
Personally, I'll take Far Cry 2 over ANYTHING Crytek has ever made, period. Far Cry 2 is one of the most impressive and promising games I've ever seen. There's no other game I'm looking forward more to this year.
However, you have to consider that PC publishers are much less reluctant to ship a title on multiple (2 or more) discs on the PC, than on the XB360. RAGE, for instance, might ship for the PC on 4 or 5 discs or so, while that number would be highly unlikely on the XB360.
This smacks some of damage control on the part of id, following their controversial recent comments about the space constraints of the DVD format.
Good luck on that prediction, you BUFFOON. You absolute, blatant, Microsoft-loving, fanboy BUFFOON.
That is, good luck on downloading 25-50+ GB games every time you want to buy a new game on the Xbox 720 or PS4.
Good luck convincing developers like Konami and Kojima, Rockstar, and id Software, that DVD is enough space for the NEXT generation of consoles (when some developers are already cramped for more storage in THIS generation on the XB360).
Good luck...
Stop insulting the guy, and "feeling sorry and sad for him," just because you want to take a veiled swipe at the PS3's API and hardware.
This is great, great news for the industry. Some gamers have no idea how much of a disaster it would have been, particularly in the sports arena, were EA have been able to buy out Take Two.
How the hell did they leave Far Cry 2 off the list (coming October 21st)? That's my personal GotY right there. No other game matters much to me, this year.
This is the same pathetic and blatant 360 fanboy with the rose-colored glasses who seriously suggested that Microsoft should "buy Sony's gaming division." What an absolute DUMMY.
This really speaks to how box art designers truly feel about the differences in demographics between the US and Europe. This design is just infantile and generic.
Sweet box art. My personal GotY.
Every time I read about them, they seem to be becoming more and more like a rabid cult, rather than what I remembered Christians or religious people in general to be. They seem to be getting a lot more overzealous, a lot more socially militant, in some ways. What happened to the live-and-let-live, love-thy-neighbors sort of thinking? I used to be under the impression that one of the most basic tenets of Christianity meant love and tolerance for others, under all circumstances.
No...
I didn't say I didn't enjoy that very, very (very, very, excessively) much personally.
All I'm remarking on is that I'm not sure that this stuff is approved for TV broadcast, and seems at least somewhat controversial to me. I mean, by golly whiz, there's kids watching. Remember Nipplegate?
I don't think that's FCC-approved.
How can you say that FF7 DIDN'T define the JRPG genre as we know it today? Almost every mdoern RPG you see takes after or is inspired/influenced in some way by the narrative style, elements, and structure, character archetypes, along with cinematic presentation, of FF7, good or bad. FF7 is widely considered by many Japanese gamers and developers as one of the most influential games of all time. After 3 years, people are still begging for a PS3 remake of the game, for pete's sake.
