You're getting disagrees because your dog**** website is full of idiotic fanboys (modders and cheaters, no less) that know absolutely nothing about the PS3.
And they all seem to be of the same 9-year old line of thought that XBL's security is better as a direct result of its $60/year fee. Meanwhile, individual XBL accounts get hacked all the time (which is never mentioned by neither Microsoft or the media); they just haven't experienced a serious full-scale attack...
Great post, with great guidelines on how users on a gaming forum or community SHOULD act. Unfortunately, many of them will not be acting as described.
He's an obvious Trophy/Achievement whore, and the only reason he plays games is to "net trophies." It's sad, really.
EDIT: I mean, I like to try to collect as many trophies as I can, but I also enjoy great, deep, satisfying games, and I NEVER play games just to get trophies. I NEVER buy a game I don't want just because it's easy to get trophies for (i.e., Terminator: Salvation).
If you can't appreciate a long, deep experience like Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Borderlands, or Mass Effect... then why don't you just buy short games (e.g., Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, Homefront, and 90% of games nowadays)? Why ruin it for the rest of us true, hardcore gamers that want a DEEP experience by WHINING and COMPLAINING about games being too long/deep/complex/etc.? Thus encouraging more developers (*ahem* Bioware) to DUMB DOWN games for you noobs?
Oh, and yo...
"Microsoft will SURELY drop a megaton to ensure that it's Xbox 360 console isn't overshadowed by the Wii 2."
That's objective journalism for ya. This guy is 100% absolutely certain that a megaton announcement will be dropped by Microsoft at E3 to counteract the Wii 2. No doubt about it, for sure it will happen. Indubitable.
Fat Princess?
For the record, I don't think most male gamers like to play as ugly male protagonists either. They have to be at least decent looking.
She definitely looks Asian to me, maybe Korean or Chinese. Maybe even Filipino.
Since when was making a female character attractive considered sexist or "objectifying?"
Nathan Drake is a one sexy fella (no homo), yet it's funny that no one complains about Drake being objectified as mere eye candy created for the primary purpose of fulfilling the fantasies of girl gamers with moist panties everywhere. Seems like a bit of a double-standard, or at least a case of reactionary political correctness, to me.
So why not disable the store for both dev systems AND end-user systems?
The game is primarily a single-player experience, really. Yes, the co-op mode is a nice addition, but most of the draw of the game is the campaign mode and associated story. I doubt sales have been impacted much, considering that most people: a) bought the game for the story mode, b) preordered or bought the game without knowing that PSN would be down for an extended period, and c) realize that PSN will be back up eventually.
I mean, if I were an Xbox 360 gamer, I wouldn'...
I think it's more to do with the fact that Microsoft must have an amazing marketing presence in the UK. As everyone well knows, people will buy dog crap in a glossy-black plastic container, if enough money is dumped into advertising it.
People love writing up and posting articles about how the 360 versions of games are outselling the PS3 in the UK, for some reason. You see these UK-based articles with EVERY multiplatform game.
This article is talking about UK sales only, not worldwide. Nope, reading comprehension is definitely NOT a strength of most (Xbox) fanboys' repertoires.
@Iamback: The way you talk about this "huge" advantage for the 360 in the UK and the US, you make it sound like the PS3 doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of ever having a multiplatform title sell as much or more on the PS3, when it's happened numerous times in the past. There have been instances i...
Is reading comprehension not a strong suit of Xbox fans' repertoire or something? These sales estimates are talking about the UK REGION ONLY, not worldwide. And from what I've gathered in the past, the UK is a bunch of Xbox loyalists.
It simulates the PESPECTIVE portion of 3D--meaning your head moves, the game camera changes to trick you to think you're looking through a window. However, the stereoscopic aspect of true 3D (wherein your eyes perceive depth of space, both forward and backward) is completely missing.
I have doubts about this theory. If extreme piracy of the Playstation Store was the main concern, then why didn't Sony just shut down the Playstation Store? Why did they shut down the WHOLE Playstation Network?
I remember playing Brawl Brothers, the SNES beat-em-up by Jaleco, as a kid. Great game.
What he's talking about in the article isn't even 3D. It's simply another form of input--another method of controlling the game's camera angle/perspective, via a camera tracking your head position.
There's no sensation or perception of depth going on here (where the image pops out right in front of you) that's characteristic of true 3D.
Why am I getting phantom disagrees? This is the 4th or 5th release by Valve on 360, whereas they have absolutely ZERO experience developing on the PS3. Therefore, it should come as a bit of a shock, to say the least, to most people that there's such a disparity between the two versions visually... in FAVOR of the PS3 version.
Perhaps the reason for the PS3 version being superior simply comes down to the fact that Valve prioritized the PS3 version as the lead platform, and...
