FC2 didn't suck, it was just okay. I expected a lot from the game also, but it was an okay game in its own right.
Far Cry 3 is my most anticipated game of 2012. There aren't enough open-world, free-form FPSs out there, and it's always welcome when a new one comes out. Especially one set on a beautiful tropical island, a la the great Far Cry 1.
I agree. I think patches can be a good thing, because they improve the game. I think a lot of people around here are short-sighted and don't realize this. Sometimes, even if a game isn't really broken, it's still good to have frequent patches, because they might improve the game performance or graphics or gameplay balance.
For example, MW3 worked fine for the most part, but many gamers were still complaining about how overpowered the dual SMGs, the Type-95, and th...
Because they're blind Xbox fans, married to their console of choice since 2005, and unable to see anything else. It being an American console (thus having an extremely strong marketing presence in the United States) probably has a lot to do with it as well.
A lot of casual and semi-casual gamers in the US seem to have ignorant preconceptions that the PS3 isn't a viable console, or that it lacks games, or that it has a horrendously bad online service. They don't kn...
No hating just facts. Look at the early sales figures, PS3 is already outselling the 360 week-to-week again for the first month of this year. The 360 had a nice little spurt on Black Friday and the Holidays, but that's about it. And I don't see them repeating their success for 2012, considering a NEW FREAKING CONSOLE is launching this year; the Wii U is set to make the 360 look even older and more obsolete than it already is.
/me waits for the rabid Xbox fans with mul...
@reynod: Please explain to me how my suggestion is "unfeasible." An SSD works perfectly fine in a PS3, even without periodic TRIM'ing. Even in its non-TRIM state, it's still going to be faster than a regular HDD. Worse comes to worse, you can TRIM it manually on your PC on a periodic basis if you're desperate for that extra speed. I've been using an SSD in my PS3 for ~3 months now, playing streaming-intensive games like BF3, Skyrim, Deus Ex, and RAGE, and it's st...
@reynod: There's nothing "funny" about upgrading to a super-fast SSD or hybrid Seagate Momentus XT. It yields a huge improvement in overall performance.
I'm amazed "Upgrade to an SSD drive" wasn't on the list. I recently replaced my hard drive with an SSD, and it's great. Everything seems to load a little faster, and games like Skyrim in particular has significantly improved load times.
I took an arrow in the knee, man
If companies like Nintendo and Sony are reporting poor financials, it's NOT because of their games departments. It's because Japanese companies in general were hit hard this past year by various adverse conditions, i.e. the Japan tsunami and earthquake disasters, as well as the thai floods. There's also the issue of the strong Japanese yen versus the weak US dollar.
The games businesses are doing well, but the overall poor state of the Japanese and world economy i...
According to the Amazon product page, there are only 9 total co-op missions. Thus, there's a great likelihood that the co-op mode won't last very long. Time will tell, but I really hope the co-op mode is long and substantial, and not just an afterthought to the single-player campaign.
A GTX 560 ti is about equivalent to the HD 6750, and I bought it on sale for $175 the middle of LAST YEAR. By the time late 2013 hits, the GTX 560 ti and HD 6750 will be MUCH cheaper.
I would be surprised if the PS4 doesn't include AT LEAST a GTX 560 ti or equivalent.
@gamingdroid: You're a bit confused. The general consensus amongst developers is that the PS3 is bottlenecked by the GPU. The 360 has a more powerful GPU than the PS3, which offsets the PS3's sizeable CPU advantage. The GPU is the single, greatest determining factor of graphical prowess in any PC or console system. ANY PC gamer or PC builder will tell you that.
Ergo, if the Xbox 720 has a measly HD 6670, and the PS4 has even the midrange GTX 560 ti (hypothetically spe...
@C_Menz: I would be happy if the next Xbox had a GTX 560 ti. It's a decent card, and console developers can do a lot with limited hardware due to optimization. Just look at what devs have accomplished w/ the PS3 and its antiquated 7800 GTX.
If the PS4 does release later, I certainly hope it does a lot better than an HD 6670. Even a GTX 560 ti would be a lot better.

Max Payne? Meh. Hardly a shooter I would cite as something that will make 2012 a year to remember.
Far Cry 3, on the other hand, I'm extremely excited about. There's a real dearth of open-world FPS titles on the market, aside from the Stalker series and the last Far Cry. Not to mention RAGE, which sucked. If Ubisoft can pull a off a game that captures the spirit of the original Far Cry, and improve upon the gameplay mechanics/flaws of FC2, then I think we'll have ...
It's just a marketing ploy to sell Kinect to hardcore gamers.
But WHO CARES. Just stop whining.
@Spitfire_Riggz:
F2000 "destroys it in close quarters?" Could you be more vague?
Like I said, the one, solitary thing I might give the F2000 is that it jumps up slightly less in full auto, making it slightly easier to hipfire. But the difference is really negligible. Famas simply kills faster, both at long range, and in close quarters. The time-to-kill performance of the Famas is simply better.
I've used both guns extensively. A...
Metro is enjoyable if you're a kill-whore and have a stacked team in your favor.
I use the Famas a lot myself, and even I think it's overpowered. Am I a whiny baby also? Face the facts, sometimes things need to be re-balanced if something is flawed or overpowered. No game is perfect.
And no, F2000 does not beat the Famas. I use both, and the Famas simply kills faster, and has more range than the F2000. The only thing the F2000 might be better than the Famas in is maybe SLIGHTLY less recoil. MAYBE slightly.
Awesome vid; it's always entertaining when a f***load of campers gets owned hard in rapid succession.
I had a similar experience a while ago in Blops, and took out 4 campers in like 3 seconds:

Man that sucks. I was hoping for an earlier release than that. Although I had a feeling it might be September, as several previous Far Cry games have also been released in September.
7 months of waiting to go, I guess.
