Metacritic is the absolute WORST criterion on which a person should judge a game anyway.
Cliffy B says that "always online benefits gamers."
I'd like him to name just ONE of these supposed "benefits." How does being forced to connect to the internet to play a single-player game "benefit" the consumer in any way?
Cliffy B needs to name ONE benefit to consumers that requiring an internet connection to play games offers. Just ONE benefit.
I'm waiting.
Treyarch is just ignoring it. If you close your eyes, the problem goes away.
Evidence of inherent lag problems in Black Ops 2: http://youtu.be/ZoFnIckyoxg
I won't be tricked ever again into buying another COD game. Not unless the terrible lag problems are fixed.
"Do you not think Microsoft has enough time, money and talent to do both without one or the other suffering?"
And you go the other extreme, and act as though Microsoft has limitless resources and ability to put out the ultimate hardcore gaming console that is also the ultimate family-oriented, motion-control console. They obviously can't go one way without diluting the other, at least on a hardware budget basis. Otherwise, the next Xbox would be equipped with a ...
I wouldn't say it's close. I don't see the Vita achieving Last of Us graphics fidelity in the foreseeable future, if ever. It can certainly approximate the look and feel (i.e., art style) of a Killzone or Uncharted game, albeit at much reduced detail levels.
I played the game for a couple hours, and it seems incredibly limited and repetitive, even by free-to-play standards.
Wrong, I'm not making a big deal about this at all. I honestly don't care too much if this rumor is true or not, because I'm pretty certain I won't be buying an Xbox console next generation. Therefore it won't be affecting me.
I pretty much just chuckle at all these rumors of used-game bans and internet-required on the next Xbox.
You're right, it is just a rumor, but it's been an incredibly long-standing, persistent rumor, substantiated by numerous sources over the past year. It would be a surprise if there wasn't more-or-less truth to it at this point.
Looks like STALKER lives on.
I never, EVER pay the full $60 retail price for a game. I can usually find some kind of discount more or less for a game, new or used, if I deal hunt a little bit (at Slickdeals or CAG, for example). I think people that pay the full $60 for any game aren't being smart with their cash (unless they're rich, in which case $60 won't matter too much).
Renting a game to beat it (especially an ~8-hour game) would be smarter even if I can't find a discount on a partic...
April Fools', yay.
I'm anxious to see what the real Far Cry: Blood Dragon expansion will be like. More FC3 = more betters.
""DICE’s Patrick Bach spoke about the importance of form over function, practical gameplay over pretty visuals...""
Form over function? Gameplay over pretty visuals?
If DICE or Patrick Bach thinks 60fps is just "graphics" or "pretty visuals" then he is sorely mistaken. 60fps arguably a gameplay spec, not a graphical one, and is vitally important for a competitive shooter. Having a higher framerate improves the feel of t...
Well, if it really does run at 720p60, then I wouldn't doubt that the PS4 would be able to achieve at least High settings--if not max--when running BF4. Now if it were to run at 1080p, then it would be a different matter. My guess is it would take some serious optimization to get the game at High or Max settings at 1080p running on the PS4 (even at 30fps).
Personally, I would rather have the game run at 720p60 than 1080p30, any day all day, on the PS4. Gameplay fluency al...
Not sure why you got so many disagrees, but IGN HAS historically inflated their scores quite a bit for big-name games.
With that said, Bioshock Infinite looks fantastic, and I can't wait to play it (gotta finish Bioshock 1 first, though). Almost all the footage shown in the video review was from the PS3 version, and it looks beautiful, so I'm not terribly worried about a shoddy port on that platform.
I'd rather have a CONSISTENT 60fps at 720p, than an inconsistent framerate that drops to 35-40fps at 1080p any day. Fact of the matter is, even the latest PC GPUs currently out (HD7970, GTX680) won't be able to maintain a 100% constant 60fps on the newest version of the Frostbite engine--sorry to burst everyone's bubble. Hell, they can barely average ~40fps in Crysis 3 on the highest settings.
I'm actually happy about this news, as it shows DICE's commitme...
As long as I get 64 players with a consistent 60 fps, I'm happy. I'll sacrifice some resolution for gameplay. Bring it on!
Fanboys will whine about 720p instead of 1080p. Well, the fact of the matter is that DICE has to compete with Call of Duty (also 60 fps), and the only way they can do that is use a lesser resolution. Consistent 1080p at 60fps on the latest, greatest Frostbite engine just ISN'T POSSIBLE, even with the the latest graphics cards currently out (HD...
I'm conflicted myself on whether that is necessarily true. On one hand, a more familiar x86 CPU will make start-up and initial development easier and faster. However, the exotic Cell processor in the PS3 had a lot of raw power, despite being more complex and difficult to develop for. Without the Cell, I could almost guarantee that you wouldn't have seen PS3 exclusives with the graphics fidelity of games such as Uncharted, Killzone, and God of War.
As maligned as the C...
