Quite frankly the elephant in the room is the fact that 90% of your reservations are unfounded. Why? Because SE have already made a real-time demo and that in itself has led to most of the fan demand for a remake. Everything visual was dealt with in the RTDemo.
All combat changes would be needless for 1 reason, Materia.
FF7 from the ground up is intricately embedded with the idea of Materia, Mako, Lifestream so the Materia system would have to be kept in and no fan would say other...

Edge gave Halo ODST a 9. They gave Killzone 2 a 7.
Edge are on a bit of a roll as far as PS3 reviews go this generation. They will have no reason to mark this game down but then again they have found reasons to do so in the past with other games.
If a PS3 game isn't as innovative and fun as LBP it doesn't stand much of a chance of a fair review in Edge. Perhaps Uncharted 2 will be just a bit too good for them to mark it down.

This generation all internet magazines and even at times tv news shows have boosted their own viewer/reader "ship" by bashing the PS3. It's still going on now and is reflected in many an unfair review score.
Some people will milk the bash PS3 craze till it stops working and then they'll join the party like they were onboard all along.

Having played and loved the recent PS3 demo it's obvious which version is better but it seriously has been built with gore in mind and to remove it does diminish from what would be a top tier action game otherwise.
Not a GOW3 beater but certainly not a million miles away from it.
I just don't think this guy plays a lot of RPG games.
They are the least intuitive to navigate, they rarely have controllable cameras and not great ones even if they are present but most of all they are littered with all manner of fantastical creatures to kill. Surely all RPGs ought to only have humans or the odd dragon to slay because anything else is just unrealistic right?
If FF13 does have major problems I doubt if the ones listed in this article will be the deal...

Wish I hadn't watched it now. The less I see the more I'll enjoy the game and be surprised by it. Not top of my list of buys but I haven't seen anything to put me off buying it. Day 1, probably

A multiplatform release is a must though. The demand is there, the technology has advanced, many other games have made money back on greater budgets.
They can do it but Sega aren't a big budget developer. At their heart they are still an arcade game developer going back to their biggest commercial failure would be a big ask.

I would actually pay £40 for a remastered SOTC with trophies but I guess I'll have to wait for the sequel.
I think budget has more to do with it. They would undoubtedly sell 6m+ yet to outlay the money required is quite frankly beyond most companies.
This generation they have stopped trying to make epics and have focused on smaller less innovative games. None of which had a good press so far.
