Blu-Ray is better for games than DVD9.
The transfer speed being the only drawback has been blown apart by those great first party games that feature no load screens.
Are we really suggesting that the cheapest least troublesome format should always win out because it saves the consumer paying slightly more on a console.
I don't know if games will regularly exceed the DVD9 limit this generation but if they do isn't that a good thing? Better textures, audio, bigger levels. Wh...

My own experience is that I have had a second hand 60gb model PS3 for just over 16 months and it's comparable in volume to the Wii and doesn't tend to get louder when doing anything really except writing to the HDD for long periods.
Blocking the vents definitely makes a difference though.
Between the PS3 and my ex display model 42 inch plasma my house gets pretty hot of an evening.

My mistake. I was expecting the budget of a new MGS to be lower overall for each system it ships on but I take your point that it could be a larger budget.
i had no idea that MGS4 racked up at 80m, that's pretty phenomenal, getting on to GTAIV type budgets.
But anyway it's a lot more than a PSP budget.
MGS on PSP budget 10m-15m
MGS on PS3 budget 40m-50m

I don't think M$ have done anything wrong this gen aside from the RROD.

Whoever said that the worst case scenario would have been 2 single player discs is wrong. The worst case scenario is that they could have gimped the game to get it on 1 disc.
I'm thinking... GTAIV.
The fat PS3 is more expensive hence they would be continuing to sell them for a negative amount of money. They have done it so far because they wanted to eventually become profitable, but to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory by keeping the more expensive and uglier model just doesn't make sense.
Anyone want to bet that M$ will call an end to this generation in a year or 2 claiming victory because they weren't caught by Sony on the sales.

Or just have an install disc.
1 install disc is OK in my opinion. Then we can start to see multiplatform games getting a bit more ambitious and a bit better as well.

It's hard to think of DLC that SHOULD be payed for on fat princess.

Ninjas, chefs and kings sounds like expanding on an already solid game.
