I've said before and I'll say it again, Sony hung this game out to dry. Little marketing, not much shown in the gaming media, not a lot of support pushing the title. It still did very well. At least those who are long standing fan still supported the game and I count myself as one of them.
I think consumers will just be more discerning about what they buy. They already are, which is why so many great games get overlooked because gamers can't buy every game new and even when it's in the bargain bin, it's a fraction of the experience. Season passes, preorder bonuses, online passes; at $60, games are already expensive yet publishers still try to nickle and dime us. There are a lot of great games coming out, we can't buy them all and when we don't, they say the ...
Not light NPD up?! Dude, that's 92K in 4 days, on 1 console. Some big name, big budget releases don't even sell that well. That's downright impressive!
@ PSX99
I love the Resistance franchise and despite what critics say, it continues to be fantastic for those who've followed the series and continue to support the franchise, which is why it's in the top 10 of the NPD despite being on 1 platform.
The Wii sold less than the 3DS. WOW!
Even after the first poster was assumed to be a douche you just had to come and bail him out didn't you. SMH!

Who compares their product to GT5? You mean the "gaming media", right? iRacing, RFactor, ARCA sim racing; would never compare their product to GT5. Let's breakdown the problems with GT5 shall we; standard cars, Bad AI, career progression brutal after level 20, shadow flicker and blockyness, B spec grind, car sounds, course cutting and bouncing off walls, lack of car personalization, mediocre damage. Look GT5 got the score it did for a reason, as a game it ...
I worked hard to earn and purchase my 250 GTO in Forza 3, eventually having to sell my Cobra Daytona Coupe, which I some how lucked in and got for half of it's in game credits on the auction house, to get it. I don't like that you can purchase in game content with Microsoft points. You should be made to earn your in game rewards.
Since 2005 when Forza debut, iterations of the game has out scored every Gran Turismo game released since that time. Forza out scoring Gran Turismo isn't new. Forza Motorsport out scored Gran Turismo 4 in 2005. Forza just sold 1 million units while Gran Turismo sold 11. But fans are deciding. While Forza's base has grown consistently, Gran Turismo's has declined sharply. A lot of that may have to do with the PS3s install base not being as large as the PS2s but that also has to do ...
Metecritic is an aggregate site. The only influence they wield is in determining which sites' or publications' reviews are listed. The list of the most influential overall isn't surprising. IGN and Gamestop are holdovers from gaming journalism's formative years and Game Informer is the industry's largest publication. GameTrailers' influence has grown. They have great video reviews.
You wouldn't happened to work at Gamestop on 7th Ave in Brooklyn do you. They took in a shit load of MW3 preorders today.
Well, there goes my Gamefly rental. I'm definitely buying Arkham City and with Uncharted, Halo Anniversary and All for One in a few weeks, I'm definitely not buying this game at launch.
About time. Congrats to Twisted Pixel. They've done some great work. I'll be rocking my Splosion Man t-shirt on my avatar this week to celebrate.
Seriously, if the Bad Company franchise couldn't how can Battlefield 3? Please tell me how Battlefield 3 distinguishes itself from the Bad Company franchise on consoles? Speaking to gamers today in Gamestop, many haven't preordered the game or even have any intentions of getting it. They played Bad Company 2, didn't like it and don't see the big difference. Frankly, neither do I. I don't see how Battlefield 3 makes that great leap. I don't see how it separates itself f...
Yup. Between the Gears of War 3 and Forza 4 season passes and Call of Duty elite, I'm committed to those three games well into next year. With Halo Anniversary in November as well, I think I'm set for the rest of the year on the XBox 360.
I don't think they nerfed the damage, just reduced the spread which was the biggest problem.
You, me and about 5 million others buddy. Can't wait!
@ HAF9212
And you're a little troll. Cry more! LOL.
I love Halo Reach but I will admit that I found myself going back to Halo 3 even though I felt Reach was more polished. I still play both but I guess there is a certain affinity to Halo 3. It's the first online community on the consoles I truly became a part of coming from Unreal 2004 on the PC.
Yeah, the 7 day return policy has saved me from owning some horrible titles. The Club, comes to mind. I understand publishers not sharing in the profits of preowned games and I'm going to assume Gamestop and Warner Bros are in bed together for Gamestop to have codes to pass along to all buyers of used copies. If so, it's smart on Warner Bros part to try to get a cut of preowned game sales without directly shafting someone just looking for a deal.
