Gaming sites and blogs represent the minority of the gaming community. Fact. As a matter of fact, I'm sure many here post on other sites and blogs as well.
Listen, everyone can stop defending DICE or defending the fact that this is a beta. They've had an alpha testing, of which we've seen footage; they've had a closed beta, of which we've seen footage. The glitches and bugs found in the public beta for Battlefield 3 are huge bugs that should have been found during the rigorous early testing of the game. This game is a month from launch, do you really think these bugs can be fixed before launch? The game's already gone to cert...
Never has a game been more talked about, having never released footage.
Consistently falling through a map isn't a SMALL bug. With a close alpha and beta tests, these bugs shouldn't even be in a public beta. These a huge bugs. Expect a huge day 1 patch for Battlefield 3.
The PC version is on a different level when compared to consoles. Not just in terms of polish but how the game plays. The console versions look and play like Battlefield Bad Company 2.5. Even the scale of the maps are smaller with numerous choke points rather than wide open and dynamic like on the PC. With out that feeling of a large scale, open battle that you get on PC, you can't consider the console versions a sequel to Battlefield 2 just Battlefield Bad Company 2.
@ deadpoole
There was close alpha testing, close beta and you launch an open beta one month before release with these issues? These are simple fixes that should have happened before the mass public got a chance to play the beta. What do you expect but negativity? Rod Ferguson hit the nail on the head a few months ago before the launch of the Gears of War 3 beta, betas are as much about advertising as it is about testing. The game doesn't look or play as great as advertise...
It's already sold out at Gamestop.
Hmmm . . . Bloomberg usually doesn't report on speculation without merit. Looks like this report is gaining more credibility.
Plus infinity on that one. Spot on.
The animations are impressive. To see squad mates run or mantle walls or go prone is very impressive. Even to do these things yourself from a first person perspective is as first jarring but impressive. Like going from prone to standing always gives me a bit of a chuckle for some reason. It's just neat.
The title and article takes what the 343 guy and gal said out of context, juxtapose their own opinion and adds a question mark for a sensational headline. They also praised Heavy Rain and Call of Duty's storytelling. Should we assume that Halo 4 will be greatly influenced by those games as well? Gaming journalism at its best. SMH!
I finally got a chance to play both the PC and console betas and the console versions are a joke. If DICE had called the console version Battlefield Bad Company 3, everyone would say, " . . . a few evolutionary changes but it's basically the same game as Battlefield Bad Company 2."; Because that's what it is on consoles. Any fan of Battlefield 2 playing this game on console should have their fan card revoked. I'm dead serious. If the Bad Company franchise was DICE's ...
I wished they had changed Carmine's voice. Clayton's a badass but he still sounds like a pussy! I can't stand to hear his voice so I don't use him in multiplayer.
More than likely it's not an open browser and more than likely will incorporate Bing!
Why would they? It's of no benefit to Microsoft only Valve. Microsoft will always maintain the only pipeline for delivering content over its service. How else can they monetize it?
Codes were sent out yesterday. If you haven't received them yet, you may as well wait until later this evening when you can just download the demo on XBL.
Everyone uses shotguns. It's a "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" situation.
I'm the same way. A lot of my time is spent in party chat with friends. We enjoy widely different games but can still socialize even though we're older, married and have kids. It makes the fact that you only meet up once a month more tolerable and you're better able to maintain friendships. There isn't anyone on my friends list I'm not related to or have not met and had a relationship with in real life.
I'll get a lot of stick for this but it plays just like BFBC2. Seriously. You have a bit more gun on gun, corridor action but it plays like a buttoned up, better put together BFBC2. Don't know why they're calling Frosbite 2.0 a new engine when it's the evolution of an engine. Save for the animations, which are fantastic, it looks the same as well.
I should receive my copy from Gamefly tomorrow. I didn't have huge expectations of the game. From the gameplay videos I saw, it looked like a game that didn't know what it wanted to be but at least it looks enjoyable and you can't ask more from 10 hours of gameplay. I'll have fun blasting my way through it.
