Did you forget how FF7 was "Attack" the whole way? It was the quickest and most reliable way to win almost any battle.

FF13 was much more about paradigm shifting and effective chaining than choosing your attacks. It was strategically deep, although unobviously so. There were many things about the system the tutorials never mentioned. FF7's combat system was as shallow as a puddle in rainy weather.

@Peaceful_Jelly

I checked out those GameFAQ user reviews, and exactly half of them give the score 8 or higher. You don't suppose these people look forward to the sequel?

Then I checked the Metacritic user reviews and found that 1091 of 1370 are positive reviews. I'm not sure what "positive" means, but I believe it's 7 or higher. Average user score is 8.2.

Plenty of people do. Don't let the vocal minority convince you otherwise.

Can we have just one Square Enix related article without someone having to mention Versus?

The ironic thing is that in every article which actually is about Versus everyone claim they have almost forgotten about it...

One might have an early HDTV, but none of those are good by todays standards. Even the cheapest TVs right now are better.

I'm a little sad too, but Atlus has gotten some quality english voice actors for this game. And tbh, I don't see the anime resemblance.

A listen server is just a dedicated server inside a game client. There's nothing else to it. It's really the worst kind of server, since the whole game drops if the host disconnects and it requires that the host has a really good connection both up and down. If not it sucks for everyone except the host. P2P is preferable if you want multiplayer to never die.

The reason PC games never die is because their dedicated server software is often public, so anyone can set o...

What a dumb excuse. If you really want to see the full game for yourself you can just wait a few days and check it on YouTube.

Can't you just admit that you want something for as little money as possible? You probably don't care one bit if the devs get your money or not as long as you get to play the game.

Perhaps you're poor, and if so I forgive you for renting, but don't act like it's because you want to make sure the game is good be...

SE doesn't want people to focus on FFvs13 right now, so this is working out like intended. Some time after 13-2 is released they will most likely start promoting Versus.

You seem to assume that to not understand something is harmful. Why is that?

I can assure you that before civilization human kids saw both violence and sex all the time. Seing violence taught them that it was a violent world - which it was. Seing sex, something they didn't understand, would only have affected their curiosity.

Also, while understanding violence is easy, it's not easy for a kid to understand _why_ violence is being used in some part...

First of all, the 3DS uses a very different kind of 3D tech. It's called parallax barrier, while theaters use polarized light/glasses and 3DTVs at home use shutter glasses.

With glasses there's no way to look at the 3D "wrong". With glassless tech you can. If your eyes are not in the perfect spot in relation to the screen you'll be doing it "wrong", and this causes strain on your eyes.

I'm not saying this is why the 3DS...

I'll buy the Wii U only if it gets some exclusive game I can't miss. Like FF15, but I somehow doubt that's gonna happen.

Back in the Quake days, 60 fps was considered BAD. Then we were all playing on old CRTs which supported 120 hz and beyond for resolutions capable of running Quake at all. Fps was uncapped and vsync off for best performance.

Quake 3 even had a bug that unless you had 125 or more FPS you couldn't jump as high. This was especially important in one particular map; it had a ledge at exactly that height where you could only jump it if you had over 125 fps. Up there was a powe...

It's even more vital in fighters, and all fighters are 60 fps as far as I know.

I know Tekken, Soul Calibur and Street Fighter are, and the rest are mostly 2D fighters which have no excuse for not being 60 fps.

It's pretty narrowminded to believe that taxes are only used to help the unemployed. That's just a very tiny fraction.

I don't expect everyone to understand macroeconomics, but it you don't - then don't pretend you do.

And yes, I'm quite happy with paying 42% income tax knowing that it makes my country one of the best to live in. And with what's left I can buy at least one new game a week without any problems. And that's wi...

Better for developers also means better for the end-users in the long run. Games don't just magically pop out of nowhere. They have to be created using tons of time and money.

There are articles about studios being closed down quite frequently these days. All of these are games we could have gotten, but don't. The easier (economically) it is to be a dev, the more games we'll get overall.

Think of it like taxes. The taxes you pay don't just...

It shouldn't concern you, but you should tolerate that not everyone likes the same things you do. My impression of Halo on the PC is genuine and not an attempt at trolling.

Its metacritic score of "only" 83 (and 6.6 user score) also means that I'm not alone in finding it mediocre. Coincidentally that's the same score as the popular-to-hate FF13 (which has a user score of 8.5).

Half-Life and Counter-Strike had already been out for a year or two too. Half-Life is a 96 on metacritic, while Halo (for PC) is a 83.
