If since 1990, game prices had gone up similarly to car prices, a game would cost $100 in the US today. Also, game development cost have gone up a lot more than car development cost since then.

It's either online pass or more expensive games. The industry has to go around somehow, and development costs are only increasing each generation.
The whiners like to compare games to cars, but fail to realize that car prices have gone up a lot in 20 years, whereas game prices are still the same even with the ever increasing development costs. And you call the devs greedy? Be realistic...
The first graph is kinda interesting, but the others are just for NA. Surely the author knows this, but conveniently doesn't mention the important distinction.

They just said that SCV is 10% complete. It's very unlikely that the new engine (if they are working on one) is ready to use already. So what they mean is that they'll use the old engine in the meantime to start balancing the game.
Whether or not they will use a new engine or upgrade the old one is unknown at this point.
But is it really a success considering all the marketing that went into it? I'm sure it feels different over in the states where most of the advertising dollars went, but here in Europe it's seemingly dead already. Same for the PS Move.
I think it's a good thing. I'd rather play games with good gameplay than games with tacked on motion controls.
