Depending on how far development has come on FF Versus 13 it might be too late to realistically consider a 360 version at this point if it has been out of the question until now. I'm not even talking about graphics here, but about game design.
If they are close to finishing the world and it has been designed Blu-ray in mind, they're going to have a huge problem splitting it up into multiple DVDs. Disallowing backtracking to 80% of the locations as in FF 13 is unlikely to make s...
Vortex3D,
I doubt Sony would remove the possibility to play games in any future firmware update. And I'm pretty sure most people bought the PS3 to play games.
My favourite game is actually Soul Calibur IV, but it has little to do with being able to dress up my own character. I know quite a few other girls who play it too.
thehitman,
What do you mean with 720/60 being 1080/120 in 3D? That's just nonsense. The 3D equivalent would be 720/30. For Wipeout HD it would be 1080/30. Wipeout HD at 30fps is not very enjoyable btw, so the better choice would be 720/60 which should be no problem for the PS3.
I believe this is something the 3DTVs should do, just like regular TVs do today. Then the PS3 can just spit out 60fps as usual, and the TV will handle the buffering and displaying at 120hz.
30fps doesn't mean it has to be 30hz. The game can still be rendered at 30fps but be displayed at 60hz per eye. This is easily done by simply displaying every frame twice. Easier on the eyes without having to double the fps. TVs has been doing this a long while now for 2D video, and it's no different for 3D.
You got one important thing wrong though. It only has to render 2 streams at 30fps to get 30fps 3D. One per eye, it's as simple as that.
You misunderstand. Whatever the resolution, to make it 3D the PS3 has to render at twice the fps. It does not have to render at a higher resolution. In other words, resolution has nothing to do with making the experience 3D instead of 2D.
What he says is simply wrong. You only have to render at 120fps to get 60fps 3D. Or 60fps to get 30fps 3D. The resolution has nothing to do with it. Only the fps needs to be doubled.
It started slow, but it's on the way on becoming my favourite too. I've been just a few hours in Gran Pulse, and it's simply amazing there :)
Mashing X in FF13 won't get you far. The game starts off very easy, but in the end you'll most likely have had more game overs than any other FF. A game over in FF13 isn't a big deal though, and I think it's a good thing considering the difficulty.
Comparing an MMORPG and a singleplayer only game is silly.
There is no problem finding a bad 1080p TV and a better 720p TV. TVs have huge price differences for a reason. Quality picture is so much more than just the resolution, and fiddling with the settings can only do so much.
For example you mention black level. This isn't some setting in the menu. The TV will display black as dark as it can, and the better the TV the darker it is.
You also mention upscaling SD to HD. A good TV will do this better, it has nothing to d...
It will sell alot because of massive hype and marketing, and many will get upset when it doesn't work as good as advertised. This is just how MS does business.
So basically you're saying you prefer good graphics over good gameplay.
Anyone who thinks this will work for fast paced games have never experienced input lag. It's much more annoying than the latency experienced when playing online.
But for slower paced games, it'll probably work just fine.
PAL is just 768x576, so that doesn't make sense. The screenshots have 1024 native pixels horizontally, something PAL can't do. I bet it's just more PR lies.
It's the name of the world in FF13.
We should, but we can't because the game is also in 360. They can't allow backtracking on only one console, so they had to design the game with both consoles in mind. This is an important reason why the game is less than what it could have been (if it was exclusive to PS3).
