Sad but true, fanboys reign the internet gaming community night and day. The wonderful world of N4G is opposite land.
Here are some definitions from the N4G dictionary for opinion:
Opinion
o·pin·ion [uh-pin-yuhn]
1. something that actually exists; reality; truth
2. something known to exist or to have happened
I agree with Logicwins. People just love to hate on video game for being successful just because they simply don't like video game. Look at all the fanboys on the internet bashing Nintendo for milking Mario and Zelda. The reason Nintendo does this because Mario and Zelda has a large fanbase, and thus a company would cater to their fans' wants so long the demand still exists (and so long this demand is profitable, because face it, it's business). Call of Duty has one of the largest...
Call of Duty has a huge fanbase and you're nothing more than an insignificant, vocal minority. You wouldn't be saying the same if your favorite franchise returned double this money (not like it had a chance to begin with). You are just hating on a video game for the sake of hating on a video game. Nothing more, nothing less.
Nintendo is onto something with improving the Wii U. Now it needs more games and I'll be ready to purchase my system!
I will never work for EA, ever.
With heavy-duty encryption that can only be decrypted on a PS3 connected to the PSN I don't see piracy too much an issue.
What would be cool is to be able to download the games on your PC and then transfer them over to your PS3 on a USB drive. PS3ProxyServer is giving me problems for some reason with downloading games onto my PC. My college has ultra-fast internet, but at home my internet is like dial-up in comparison.
No it won't.
Bad advertising, weak lineup of games, most of the good games are cross platform, the Mario game isn't that much different from the other NSMB games, the list goes on...
It's a great machine with a lot of potential, but Nintendo will have to step their game up like they did with their 3DS.
It's more the games than specs. Right now there isn't much available for the Wii U worth buying, and the marketing is really terrible right now. The system needs a price drop, more worthwhile games and better marketing.
The 3DS is selling like hotcakes despite it's weak specs, but Nintendo is doing something right with that system. This isn't the same for the Wii U at this moment.
Most "AAA" games nowadays are mostly flare and little substance. They lack any soul for exchange with "zOMG LUK @ DAT GRAFIKS BESTEST GAME EVAR!!!!!1!one." The majority of games I play nowadays are niche titles like 3D Dot Game Heroes, Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Ni no Kuni, Tales of Graces f, the Hyperdimension Neptunia games, the Atelier games, Disgaea, Persona, etc.
Much of these games are bad, but at least (to me) they are actually fun.
-Free XBL multiplayer
-New IPs
-Reliable machines
-No always-on DRM
-No anti-used games!
Not expecting #1 to happen but hopefully MS will at least do the rest on my list. I really am looking forward to see the actual console with its details. I really want to see an improved Xbox.
Apart from Dragon's Dogma, Capcom has yet to release something I find remotely interesting... With their poor decisions I wouldn't touch their other games with a 10' pole.
I think I am buying a Wii U along with a PS4 in one purchase...
"Are you serious? For one, most people already have a tv."
Most people already have a monitor.
"Why would they buy a tv to get into console gaming?"
Again most people have a monitor...
"HDMI cables aren't standard with PCs either, so I don't know why you brought that up."
HDMI reference wasn't directed toward PC gaming...
"A controller comes with...
400 for a 500GB system
500 for a 1TB system and additional features
My guess though.
Obviously you have never tried PC gaming because I know a lot of PC gamers on 4-6 year old hardware configurations and still play the latest games. Max settings? Maybe not but they still run and look better than their console counterparts, with mod support to boot.
Not so constant.
You'll need a TV, a HDMI cable, multiple (quite expensive) controllers, and in 360's case for their older systems, a battery pack, a WiFi adapter, a hard drive or a memory card, etc. Consoles are just as guilty of extra expenses as PC, oh and not to mention games are much costlier and sales are much less frequent on console.
!
Not good.
Which means raw hardware specs isn't the most important factor for a successful console. It never really was in the past, and likely never will be. Look at the GameCube, these same people bashing the Wii U didn't buy the Gamecube despite having really powerful hardware for its time. PS1 & PS2 both steamrolled their more powerful competitors, and raw hardware specs had nothing to do with that.
All of a sudden specs matter. Gamers are a fickle minded community. EDIT...
