To me the 360 had (ever so) slightly better textures, and in these screen shots the brightness contest was better on 360, but on the shots where the PS3 settings were adjusted properly it was equal on this... why isn't the PS3 set up like this by default???
Also I have the PS3 version of this game, I haven't noticed screen tearing at all??? am I just blind?? i've not been looking for it, so i'm sure it happens once and a while, but it's not even registered with me yet, so to say ...
"It's also a bit weird that this was aired fairly soon after the launch of the PS3 Slim."
It's no coincidence, watchdog timed it so that this story goes out when PS3 is in the limelight, to gain maximum viewers for the story.
This is a complete non issue, and i'm shocked that BBC decided to air this issue, 0.5% failure rate! seriously? I've had freeview boxes which fail regularly and seem to be built to last a week! but I never see these brands on watchdog...
@ Pandamobile
Barely functional mac mini's! you're having a laugh, they are no power house for sure, but for every day use they are more than capable, I think you can take your fanboy attitude elsewhere. 'macs are stupid' Sound argument there!
@ MorganX
Agreed with you, both windows and OS X have there own strengths and weakness', although I've not noticed many hang ups or lock ups on OS X, but I wouldn't say they are non existent, just I notice these so...
That's the main problem with this article!
People would have chosen the PS3 over the 360 due to free online gaming, to charge for online gaming suddenly is comparable to if sony suddenly updated the firmware meaning you needed the official sony bluetooth remote to watch DVDs or Blu Ray films.
You cannot sell a product with a set of features, like free online gaming. and then 2 years later say oh we changed our mind.
It would be interesting to know what S...
LOL!!!!
authors train of thought...
"i'm an idiot and I want to write an article, but I have no factual information of any sorts, I know! I'll pull one out of my ass, and publish it on the net"
lol, well can't you just open safari when you want to play quake live?
I get fed up with journalists talking about the 10 year life cycle!!! just because the PSP was released in 2004/5 doesn't mean we'll have to wait until 2014/15 for a PSP2 it just means sony will continue to support the original PSP for 10 years!! (I don't remember sony boasting a 10 year cycle for the PSP, but I wouldn't be surprised if it does last that long anyway)
I predict we'll see a PSP2 in 2012/2013 with a few years overlapping where sony continues to support the original...
"THat's cause this site didn't play it yet"
take it you don't even know what the guardian is! it's one of the more respected newspapers in the UK, not trash like The Sun or Daily Star. The guardian is a respectable source for information, I'm sure they would of played the game before reviewing it, however their target audience is not the hardcore gamer, so they are not somewhere you'd go for an in depth review, detailing gameplay mechanics.
lol, i'm going around replying to all your comments today for some reason, i'm like a n4g stalker of some sorts.
I own orange box on PS3, and it's a damn good collection game, if I didn't own it already, after reading what everybody has said about it on here I would think it's virtually unplayable, but the truth is, it is barely noticeable through out most of the experience! yes it's slightly buggy! and has frame rate issues, but it's not a deal breaker as far as i'm concerned! &...
Seriously, you comparing the 360 to PS3 in reliability! Yes neither system is perfect, but with the 360 have a reported 33% failure rate (which I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was greater, as amongst my friends it's closer to 100% failure rate, as no one I know has not had a 360 brick on them, and that's the honest truth,)
The PS3 may have a few technically issues, but cannot be mentioned in the same sentence as 360 failure rates! unless that sentence was 'I wish the 360s ...
There are no guarentees that there efforts will return a profit on 360 or PC either, no matter what platform you are developing for you are taking a financial risk.
Maybe valve on PS3 would be a bigger financial risk than on 360 due to the number of PS3 gamers who are not happy with valve, but the gamers on N4G and other forums only represent a minority, the mainstream would be unaware of valves past relationship with PS3, so the risk would be slim.
You could also ...
I bought it when it first came out for £40, I hadn't read any reviews or comparrisons at the time, so I was unaware of any issues on the PS3 version, and i've had many hours of enjoyment out of the orange box, it may be inferior, but it's no where near as bad as it's been made out to be by some people.
It's perfectly playable & the technical issues don't distract from the game, but at the same time, if you have a 360 or half decent PC (which I don't) then you'd be best...
Awesome! I'm looking forward to playing this!
I was stuck in an online que for about 30mins the day this released to play, only for the second it was about to launch the game told me I couldn't play because I wasn't' on windows! was gutted.
"the 10-year cycle for consoles hasn't been done yet and I don't think it will either because the pace of technology is so fast that they will be forced to release new consoles before they get close to 10 years."
umm PS2 was released in 2000 and is still selling! that's pretty damn close to a 10 year cycle! why don't writers understand 10-year cycle Sony promises is that the console will be supported for 10 years, doesn't mean sony won't release another console, while c...
Don't MS make direct X?
and being released on 360 & Windows is kinda Microsoft exclusive, but definitely not exclusive to 360. This list is pretty poor, why do exclusive lists ignore the PC is it only to make there list look better.
Now i'm not a 360 gamer, nor am I a hater, anyone feel like writing a real 360 list? mine would list stuff like Halo 3, Crackdown, Fable 2, not sure what else but I'm sure there are more...
Article is lame...
he's asking for an experience to be inlcuded in GOW3 which was already in 1 - 2! and then backs this up with an email he sent the developers and got what looks like an automated no comment response!
That site has lost a little bit of credibility with that article in my opinion.
Now God of War 3 will be awesome, no doubt about it. can't wait!
I've played plenty of HD games on both consoles, but it doesn't stop super mario galaxy looking stunning!
Art Direction > Pixel Count anyday
(EDIT) i'd like to add I much prefer my PS3 to my wii, but mainly due to the amount of shovelware on the Wii! very few games are anywhere near the quality of Galaxy,
agreed, people need to sit back and enjoy there games rather than counting pixels!
it would have to be absolutely amazing to sell at that price! and judging by previous tony hawks games I highly doubt it!
No matter how good it is, I won't be buying it, I'd rather play Tony Hawks 2, absolutely quality title!
@ darkecho
Yes the tears are very noticable! when marked out with a bright yellow line! but I've got the PS3 version and up until this article was completely unaware of tearing in the game. I'm not saying Lens of Truth have made it all up, it's just that the tearing in no way distracts from the gaming experiences, and in fact did not even register with me.
If your a pixel whore the 360 does win this comparrison, no doubt it has slightly better textures and next to n...
