It's great that Runic is thinking ahead but they really shouldn't be harsh about retail. I mean, THAT is how I got my copy of Torchlight. Moving to a new media and dissing the old reminded me too much of the days when id and Epic migrated to the consoles - holding the Finger to PC gamers while doing so. If you want to leave something, just leave. No need to be a dick about it.
There are some people who still cherish the boxed copies. Like me. Main reason is that I rea...
Looks great. I do hope a major publisher would NOT snapped it for itself and make an exclusive for its own platform. That would be a sad day. I know the developer wants to make Hawken playable for all platforms but other bigger and more established developers also said the same about Alan Wake and Heavy Rain.
For 2012, Microsoft and Sony already have Armoured Core V all for themselves while the PC has Mech Warrior Online.
So let us all share Hawken together w...
The first one was amazing with its creepy environment and NPCs. I left my first and only RPG on the ground since my inventory was full. I was on the Role Playing Game mentality thinking of getting them back later after selling some junk. I barely left the rocket for a second when some stalker picked it up, appraised it, mumbled some incoherent compliments and brazenly took it as his own while ignoring the other perfectly fine AK47s. I haven't seen an NPC interaction like that in any game ...
LoL. I was about to make a comment on this article about touch screens. When I looked down to type the keyboard wasn't there. I forgot I took it out earlier to repair a friend's laptop.
Anyway. I remembered several years ago before the touch screen revolution, a lot of news site claim the overall advantage of having a touch screen as an input device for games. They were mostly talking about RTS though.
After the revolution, I see the touch screen is a...
Welcome to the club.
That's how PC gamers felt when Epic left for the XBox 360 and PS3 years ago. I wouldn't mind if they left quietly like gentlemen but instead they brought out all these negative things about the PC just as they were leaving.
Again, I would've have shrugged off their dickery if it weren't for the fact they still used the PC to sell off the latest Unreal 3 game engine versions.
The US team stole our jets and helo in Wake Island just the other day. I spent the whole session trying to stinger them but to no avail. Kinda frustrating when they can re-use fire extinguishers to fool your stingers more quickly than regular flares. Even when the whole squad fired stingers together at a single helo is no use (one fired early to force the helo use the flare and the rest to take it down). Especially with Bruce Willis strafing us with the F35 all the time.
and Snipers flying MAVs around.
At first I want to bash the article but after treading it carefully I actually agreed with some of the points it presented. Setting a baseline for the WHOLE industry to adhere and let it stay like that for years should be a good idea for everyone.
Of course, I would also like graphical advancement to flow, as always in PC hardware (not in software since they still have to wait for the consoles), during the period. A little bit of both.
An industry standard th...
When you want to get more money while maintaining a good reputation, THAT is the way to do it. Not dumping the people who kept them afloat for years before leaving and give them finger as you leave.
Are you listening id? Epic? M'soft?
No one's gonna hate you guys for leaving but everyone's gonna loath you for being a dick as you leave.
I was actually happy when CDP announced its expansion to the X Box 360 although I would never bu...

WHY????
Recently Epic told the indie gamers to "go PC" if they want to succeed.
Now, they are saying that iPad could be the future of games.
With Epic is now busy adapting the Unreal 3 and 4 for mobile devices.
Way to go telling your future rivals to another place (PC)that major publishers have avoided all these years so that you can have all the cake you want.
Hopefully you will, Qwark.
"Perhaps unsurprisingly, all of the extras that have been prepared for the 360 adaptation will also be delivered for the PC version, free of charge, ensuring that fans that have supported the studio from the beginning will feel as appreciated..."

For me personally, as a PC gamer, that's more important. I don't want just some free updates or some hardware melting effects for my version.
Just something, a toke...
I'm not laughing.
Disgusted and offended (for some reason), yes.
Good point.
On one side, I am excited with the merging of Windows and X Box Live. Yes, there is great potential combining two platforms under one system and gamers have been yearning for this since the first X Box (I know I have). But, looking back at what Microsoft had done to the Live indie studios (and PC gaming before that), I fear that Windows Games under Live might get obscured in some hidden or hard to see menu as consumers surf through the site.
My ma...
The article said that the reason the PC went into a slump because the PS3 and X Box 360 offered even the hardcore PC enthusiasts to "seek refuge within the lengthy product lifecycle of the console platform." Meaning that why waste money on constant PC upgrades when the "cheaper" consoles are doing an equally decent job without requiring to do so.
So wouldn't that situation be repeated again if the next gen consoles use the latest AMD/Nvidia hardware an...
Not sure about consoles since I'm a PC gamer. Yeah, it's frustrating to fight for 45 minutes, just near the last tens of points only to have the server/game crashed and all those points gone. I'm not a rank or achievement monger but I do need those points to unlock weapons and upgrades.
Here's hoping for the better.
I'm still hoping they could make the tanks more survivable against rockets especially from jets on a VERY slow ground strafi...
I have the The Witcher 2 and it's free DLCs. They are so few and little in size or significance that I don't think they deserved to be a paid content. Some of them, like haircut and the Arena should've have been part of the vanilla game. I understand they ran out of time so they left them out so they can include them in later updates.
But for X Box 360 gamers having to be forced to pay for these small things although some of them should've been in it from the...
Yes. Ubisoft. I haven't any of their games for two years except for Cliffs of Dover which used Steam. I am now interested with the upcoming Ghost Recon BUT there's still that big freaking Ubisoft DRM in the way.
Steam up Ghost Recon and I'll be the first to pre-order, regardless whether it's a console port. A game is still a game. Unless if it have a crappy DRM, then it's just...crap, I guess.
So they are stealing from smaller developers now?
