Is that from a retail point of view, potential is a hard sell, especially for $600.00. When people come into the Gamestop I work at, they either want a Wii (because of the price and ongoing hype factor) or a 360 (Huge, existing library of good games, out NOW, and upcoming titles like GTA 4 and Halo 3) The ONLY questions I hear regarding the PS3 are: 1. When will the price drop, and 2. When will there be good games for it? Consumers could care less about potential, they want to now what a $6...
Making this game a timed exclusive on PS3 is a good idea. Unless they hope that such will get them more sales on 360 after the Halo 3 firestorm has died down, but come on-- even the Sony Fanboys point out that the 360 is a "shooter-based" console, so releasing this on PS3 first? Hope Sony gave them enough $ to make that a worthwhile gamble...
Mortal Kombat II, NBA Jam, etc. from the Genesis days, Powerstone, Perfect Dark, GRAW I and II, Any Rainbow Six game, the original Halo (which showed the whole industry that co-op was a must) just to name a few. But leaving out Gears and Crackdown is unpardonable. People screamed when there was no co-op over Live for Halo 2, but now thanks to Gears and Crackdown, if Halo 3 doesn't have same-screen and Live co-op, it will look pretty lame....
Is Final Fantasy and MGS 4. If they lost those two games, the last possible reason (for a lot of people) to get a PS3 is gone... so Sony better pay what ever it takes to keep them PS3 exclusive. Eventually, enough PS3 only titles will be out - new Ratchet and Clank, Drake's Fortune, Heavenly Sword, Lair, etc. But until these games start coming out... I mean, seriously, if Square announced that FF XIII was going to be coming to 360 (no way, of course, as this is "the" game that bl...
FASA (the developers) have mentioned in interviews before that if Shadowrun the shooter does well, then an action/RPG follow up is fairly likely. So, as bizarre as it sounds, if you want the game you think Shadowrun SHOULD have been, you need to buy the game that they have out NOW. Try it-- it's pretty good!
This is available on the Xbox Live Marketplace? I can't find it...
If you lock up your treasure in a treasure chest that no one has the key for and can't be it pried open, what good is that treasure?
For different folks, I guess. Gran Turismo will probably look better, but play worse. Forza 2 has always been about an accurate physics model, 60 fps, and real-time damage that affects your cars handling and performance. So, if you want a prettier game with more cars (but most of which you would never want to drive) and less accurate physics and no damage, go for GT. If you want more of a simulation at a steady 60 fps with better AI drivers and actual ONLINE RACING, go for Forza.
Buy Forza 2 AND Dirt. They are both awesome, just completely different games. I tend to like off-road racing games better (because I tend to DO better at those games), but the tuning/upgrade/painting options in Forza 2, plus the insanely detailed handling, make it a must-but as well. In Forza, I'm sure I will build/tune/paint an EVO IX to my satisfaction and cringe if I smash a wall; in DIRT, I will race the stock rally EVO IX and gleefully watch the replay if I screw up and smash it into ...
Put itself in a good position by releasing first, having an easier to develop for system, listening to devs and giving them what they wanted (512 MB of UNIFIED memory, more (and programable) shader pipelines, etc.) and making better dev tools available. It is not an accident that this kind of thing is happening, but if Sony was selling more systems it would almost be a moot point. Lots of good games for both systems are coming; its just that you will probably have to wait longer for the PS3...
That still, no matter what, I CANT download the new maps for some reason-- it just won't work. I've updated my credit card information, tried calling Microsoft, sent emails to Bungie and Xbox Live, and nothing. I called 1-800-4my-xbox the other day while trying to get the download to work, did everything the guy on the phone told me to, still nothing, and he gave up and hung up on me. To ME, it seems ridiculous that I WANT TO GIVE THEM MY MONEY but they wont help me do so. At least, based ...
Of Halo 3 launching in September, it becomes obvious to me that Microsoft isn't sitting on its laurels. By having the biggest 360 game to date come out two months before the holiday season, they are assured of selling a ton of new systems at the current price, then in November, they can easily drop the price of the Pro and Elite and eliminate the Core. Also, if you look at the type and pedigree of the games coming to 360 before the end of the year, Microsoft has done everything humanly poss...
Microsoft made a smart choice. Once again, if you don't need/want/ like the color, specs, HDMI 1.2 vs. 1.3, etc., well, then DON"T BUY IT. No one is forcing people to upgrade from a pro to an elite; personally, since my HDTV does not support HDMI and I've never even used all the space on the 20GB drive, I feel no desire to buy an Elite. But in the future, if I get a new 60 inch HDTV with HDMI inputs, for example, I COULD buy an Elite if I want to, because now it is available.
Read the article. Just says an announcement is coming next week, not that they will announce a new publisher or release date. It could be an announcement that it is cancelled (although I hope not!) Where did this articles title come from, anyway?
The demo, according to the Forza 2 website, can't be sent for certification until the game has gone gold, and I haven't heard that announcement yet. While I am sure they will fast-track the certification process, my guess is the demo won't be out until mid-week next week. But, I hope I am wrong....
They learned a lesson or two from the Xbox vs. PS2 days, and got the 360 out first, forged better relationships with game devs, made better programing tools for their system, etc. Very few good games will NOT be on the 360, so I think Microsoft, lack of Blu-ray, HDMI and whatever, will do fine.
Very funny how Rockstar has ONLY shown (in video and screenshots, as well to visiting press, i.e. Game Informer)the 360 version of GTA 4. A couple of very good reasons for this: they have had 360 dev kits longer, and the programming tools that go with them are easier to use and more "complete" than what Sony offers, so of course the 360 is the lead development platform. I guess it sucks for PS3 owners if you believe that the 360 is "holding back" the development of GTA ...
That Microsoft has plans along those lines for the future. Having the Elite available just give MS AND consumers more options...
Are an idiot.
That in everything I've read and/or seen on the internet, INCLUDING the first GTA 4 trailer, ONLY the Xbox 360 version has been shown? I don't read any Playstation mags, since I only have a 360, but everything I've seen, I mean EVERYTHING is either screenshots or video of the game on 360. Why is this? I know that the RAGE engine (the new Rockstar game engine powering GTA 4) was the used to power Top Spin on 360, so more dev time on 360 version? Is the 360 version farther along in developm...
