I agree with a lot of what everyone is saying. First of all, it is a *bad* article in the sense that it is a little hard to understand WHAT they are comparing. Apparently, games from all three systems that they arbitrarily assume will be system sellers-- based on past performance of a franchise (i.e. Halo 3), pedigree of the developer, etc. But it is like comparing apples to oranges to peaches. Some people like some TYPES of games better than others, period, so no matter how good, say, Hal...

The Sony Drones say, Peter Moore is obviously better educated, more well-spoken and probably more intelligent that the doofus crew from Sony (Kaz, Ken and Phil). When he talks he makes sense, he doesn't outright lie about his company and its products (like Sony's crew does). It's obvious that he and a lot of other people at Microsoft learned a lot from the Xbox vs. PS2 days, and are making a LOT of the right moves to make the Xbox 360 the leader in this generation of gaming. Sony, in the m...

What this chart REALLY shows is that Xbox (and now 360) owners buy MORE, DIFFERENT games, not just the same few like Sony fans. What this MEANS is that, as already proven, 360 has a higher attach rate for games. So, from a game developer point of view, who would you rather release a game for? The console with almost 11 million sold, whose owners buy MORE games, or a console with not even 2 million sold, whose owners onlw want CERTAIN games? Why do you think that so many devs are taking fo...

This artice was posted by a Sony drone, so obviously was meant to give them something to vent their pent-up anger. Anger that SHOULD be directed at the company that is causing all their woes: Sony. It is a known fact that Sony is losing far more money on every PS3 sold than Microsoft loses on the 360. When you factor in the low attach rate for PS3 (games AND periferals), then Sony is in a MUCH worse place, financially. So the Sony fanboys scream about the great exclusive games coming this...

Xbox 360: out first, larger installed base, easier to program/develop for. PS3: Out second, overpriced, and not selling. Gets ports from 360 for ALL multi-platform games, games which will look and play bette on 360 and have more features (especially online). Last gen: ports from PS2 to Xbox. This gen: ports from 360 to PS3. Welcom Chang3!

Playstation site trying to put some sort of positive spin on the trainwreck that is the PS3. If anyone wants to know how these systems are selling, just call your local Gamesop, EB Games, Best Buy or Circuit City, etc., and ask them how many PS3's they have in stock and how well they are selling, Wii's and 360's as well. OUCH! Right now the Wii is KILLING in sales, but everyone expects this to slow down when the novelty wears off. I know people who are already down on the Wii that have ha...

That this article would irritate a few people, but it is very well written and brings up some very interesting points that are virtually impossible to refute. For one, Microsoft IS the next-gen leader. Some will claim by default because they were in the market first, a year before their two competitors...BUT THEY DID THAT ON PURPOSE! Others go, well wait one year, two years, ten years, Sony will overtake Microsoft eventually... Well, if that's true, they better start selling those PS3's th...

Sony CONTINUES to lie, because that is all they know how to do, and the truth for them is so dismal they can't face it. The PS3 is NOT the only true next-gen, high-def machine. It came out a year later, costs considerably more, but doesn't deliver on all the smoke and mirror B.S. Sony has been pushing for two years. And guess what? It aint selling, either. Sony may have sold 1 million systems to retail, but retail sure as he11 hasn't sold one million to gamers. I've said it before and I...

That as time goes on, things just never seem to look up for Sony. For over two years they have been saying idiotic things about how great the PS3 is, that "Next gen starts when we say it does," "People will work extra hours to buy one" and "It will sell just because it says Playstation." These, and a lot more comments from Sony Execs, have all amounted to just a big pile of bull$hit. They can't justify saying that their console is the most powerful, they don't...

With all the bad press, combined with the PS3's high cost and lack of exclusives, who in Europe would be dumb enough to buy a PS3? Sony always has treated consumers like idiot sheep, but they are finding out right now that people in the U.S. WONT buy their new system just because it says "Playstation" on it, and apparently ARENT willing to work those extra hours to afford one. But I guess on top of everything else, they (Sony) are probably telling themselves that delaying the PS3 ...

Retailers will quit accepting shipments of PS3's if they can't sell them-- no one wants $6000.00 of merchandise sitting in their back room they can't sell, because as pointed out above, it was already bought by the retail company-- Gamestop, Walmart, etc., but now they can't get their money back. Retailers don't make money on system sales, they pay the exact amount for a system they resell it for, and make money on games, accessories, etc. That is why new systems ar "bundled." Bu...

Does matter. For instance-- where I live, Gamestop 1- 7 PS3's sitting in back room, Wii's sold out every shipment, same day. Gamestop 2- 9 PS3's sitting in back, Wii sold out. Best Buy- 22 PS3's on the display floor, Wii sold out. Circuit City- 15 PS3's on sales floor, Wii sold out. I thought about calling more stores (Target, Walmart, etc.) But I think my point is made. Most people who couldn't get a PS3 for Christmas, but might still want one, have "Christmas Hangover"-- th...

Better business for Microsoft to wait for a price cut, and use the little bit of profit they are making on each 360 to bolster their videogame business in other ways-- drop the price of xbox live gold memberships to $25.00 a year, drop the price of first-part games (Crackdow, Too Human, Mass Effect and Forza 2) to $44 or $39 dollars, etc. Right now PS3s are NOT selling, so why lower the cost of the system too soon? I would hate to see Sony go under, competition IS a good thing... besides, o...

Can't wait, and I still haven't even played 5 of the seven games I got for Christmas (Santa put all 3 Burger King games in my stocking, lol). Funny thing is, Capcom COULD make Dead Rising and Lost Planet for PS3, but with so few systems out there at this time, I doubt it is economically feasable. Future big titles (RE 5, anyone?) will probably release on both consoles, but new titles that are 360 exclusive from Capcom also seem a safe bet if Lost Planet sells as well as it is expected to.

I work at a Gamestop in Spokane, WA. We have two stores in the same mall. (I would post phone numbers, but since our DM has his office in one of the stores it probably isn't a good idea.) Anyway, in the last two weeks we have had 3 times as many PS3's returned as we have sold. One store had six returned in one day. People who bought them to sell and couldn't sell them. The problem with returned PS3's was getting so bad, we asked Corporate if we could refuse to take them back (Gamestop h...

Maybe Sony didn't include upscaling because they are the world's largest manufacturer of HDTV's-- by forcing you to use HDMI (whose forced adoption as standard is stll not a sure thing) and not scaling, the only way to get the true PS3 "HD experience" is to buy a Sony 1080P television. So buying a $600 dollar PS3, which Sony loses money on, means you should buy a new HDTV from them, so they can make a little money.

Seriously, though, upscaling IS a big deal, becaus...

At the Gamestop I work at, we've had more PS3's returned in the past week than we've sold. People who bought them to sell on ebay are bringing them back because they aren't selling for the regular retail price, let alone a profit. We are actually contemplating refusing to accept any more returned PS3's, even if they are un-opened, because our company policy states that we will not offer returns or refunds on Consoles for any reason, opened or not. We only have done so so far because we ass...

Sony calls the PS3 a computer to try and avoid tariffs on "electronic entertainment devices," but it didn't work; the FTC considers the PS3 a games machine. Which it is. I would say that including all these things you mention and then letting people choose whether to use them or not is a BAD thing, since it drives the cost of the PS3 to somewhere around $800.00 to produce per unit. Sure, you can argue that since Sony sells the 60 gb unit for $600, people are getting $200 dollars ...
