They canned Ken K., didn't they? Oh, sure people will work extra hours to buy a PS3... or, whoops, wait a second, instead they will just buy a Wii, since it is cheaper. No, Japanese consumers wouldn't do that ... Uh, yes they are.

"the Playstation 3 is indeed the primary console the Medal of Honor series is developed on, this will be a sure boost to the Playstation brand." Really? MOH has gone downhill lately- Call of Duty and Brothers in Arms are MUCH better games. So, not really a boost in my opinion. Besides, it is a KNOWN FACT that most multi-platform games in develpment right now are being developed on 360, then ported to PS3. Simple reason for that, really-- developers have had 360 dev kits longer,...

Microsoft is in a rather tough position. First, it is the companies providing the extra content that are making "most" of the money from these micro-transactions. Their success (as well as the success of the Video Marketplace) is one of the reasons that publishers keep jumping on board the Live Marketplace bandwagon, but if you look at the content publisher by publisher, it becomes a little more clear that Microsoft isn't the big evil force behind microtransaction pricing schemes....

Define "Lose." With Xbox LIVE subscriptions, downloadable content (including TV and Movies, some in HD), and the huge accessory and game attach rate, MS is making money right now, even a little bit on every system sold. Sony, on the other hand, is bleeding money-- losing around $200.00 on each PS3 sold, and with the poor game and accessory attach rate. So in the long run, say 2010, if 30 million people have PS3's and only 20 million have 360's, but 360 owners buy 5 times as many ...

Core 360 = $299, + new 120 GB HDD, $180, =$479, the price of the new 360 Elite. What this pricing model does is make the Elite a better deal, since in includes a redesign inside, HDMI, (with HDMI cable in the box, novel concept, eh Sony?) and fancy new black paint, as WELL as the larger hard drive. I saw a 360 hooked up with HDMI in 1080P, then they switched to component, (the Samsung TV they used supports 1080p over component)and I couldn't tell a difference. So HDMI to me, (especially si...

Is that people talk about the 360 selling 200,000 units in a month with no major game releases and almost a year and a half after it releases as a BAD thing, when the PS3, supposedly the hot new, REAL HD, next gen machine only sold 130,000 less than 6 months after its release. I guess people don't even want it as a cheap Blu-Ray player. So, yeah, factor in some comsumers waiting for an elite, and the sales spikes the 360 will see later this year with Mass Effect, Bioshock, Forza 2, and espe...

IF only Sony ADMITTED that Blu-Ray caused the delay and the expensive price for the system, and apologized for the lack of quality games up to now, then showed more of Lair, MGS4, FF XIII, Killzone, etc., and also tried to help developers work on the PS3, that they can still be successful with the PS3. Competition is good, and I don't care if Johnny plays his PS3 and loves it, I have my friends and we will be Rockin the Halo 3 Beta, then Forza 2, Mass Effect, etc. To each his own. But Sony ...

Sony just refused to admit there was a problem, even after they were sued and lost. I was part of the class-action lawsuit, and all I got from Sony when they lost was a crappy year-old game-- NOT a replacement system. So this is one reason why the PS2 sold so well-- lots of people had to buy more than one at their own expense when the one they had crapped out.

All ps2 versions came to xbox (except the lame-ass Dominator), and played and looked better on the xbox. So even if it is developed on PS3 first, the 360 version, at worst, will look and play JUST THE SAME. Except it will have Acheivements, soundtracks, and better online play on 360, of course.

PS2 sells more because their crappy drives go bad. I have owned 3 PS2's because of this, and will never by another Sony product again. Crappy Stereo's, overpriced TV's, exploding Laptops, etc. I have had a 360 since day one with no problems. No problem with my original XBOX, either. To each their own. So, aside from replacing broken PS2's with new ones (which most people, like me, are only willing to stomach because they are now so cheap), people buy it because of the price. Of the 100...

If the PS3 were 1,000 times more powerful, if all games are developed on the 360 and then ported to the PS3? All multi-platform games will look the same on PS3 and 360 anyway. Dumb@$$

Just because they are still around in a very unforgiving market-- 3D0, Atari, Sega, Magnavox, Neo Geo-- there are more companies that have failed in the games industry than are still around. Look at a company like Apple- the iPod is huge, their new iPod phone and iTV services will almost certainly take off, but would they throw their hat in the vido game arena? I doubt it-- the risks vs. rewards are too great. Microsoft DOES NOT have to end up with the #1 console this time around to be suc...

Where is the evidence? Does he quote any actual sources? No, because the article is SPECULATION. I posit this: Microsoft didn't intentionally STUFF THE CHANNEL, they boosted shipments at the end of the year to meet percieved demand. They had every reason to assume that with the shipping constraints of the PS3 and Wii, some people would pick up 360's for Christmas presents because the other systems weren't available. Also, with their library of games and price point, and huge games like ...

I for one would rather play a new game that version 4 or 5 of the same old game as last time with just slightly better graphics. I also have had a 360 since DAY ONE and no problems-- no one I know has had problems either. Not saying people haven't, of course, but in my experience.... also, I work at Gamestop-- and we've seen some PS3's that have gone bad, as well. One person was told by SONY to bring it back to us, we called, they said to tell them to send it to them, customer called them ...

That EGM gives any love to the 360 or Microsoft? They also interviewed Peter Moore (twice!) and nailed him with just as tough of questions. Personally, I think Peter Moore was a little more forthcoming than this dude. Claiming you don't know something is just another way of dodging a question, and referring back to previous answers "rumble doesn't matter" by saying things like, "oh, we were in litigation at the time, what did you expect me to say" is still lying in my b...

How did a post about PS3 exclusives devolve into an arguement about which system is more powerful? Gee, the Wii is out-selling everyone, and it is FOR SURE the least powerful system, so does it really matter that much? *My dad can beat up your dad* *can not* * can too!* Sheesh!

Epic and Microsoft, although they worked very closely on GoW, are 2 different companies-- Epic is not a Microsoft first or second party developer. As stated above, someone at Epic claims that the lack of a party system in Gears was Microsoft's call, which I know to be absolutely NOT true. Microsoft wanted them to add some extra features to keep the party system from being used for boosting/cheating, etc., and Epic couldn't or wouldn't add the stuff required and still ship the game on time. ...

Is one of the best written pieces on this subject I have come across yet. Fanboyism aside, what Microsoft did with the 360 (vs. the original xbox) is brilliant. With Xbox vs. Ps2, the Xbox was the more powerfull system, but entered the market second and had far fewer exclusives (and fewer games overall). This time around, they release their system first but make it upgradeable in the future (360 Elite, HD-DVD drive, adding downloadable TV and movies, some in High-Def, to the Live Marketpla...

3 points...

1. Microsoft included HDMI cable in the box with the elite, AND component. Both versions of PS3 only come with composite cables. So, regardless of how much you spend on whatever kind of connection you need, the PS3 is not HD "out of the box."

2. The elite does not need any kind of HD drive. The video marketplace alows for tv show and movie downloads in HD, and the included 120 GB HDD will allow for plenty of storage. The success of this...

IS a smart company, that, like all companies, are out to make money. They are NOT however, trying to rip people off. You don't have to buy an Elite system, but if you have an HDMI equipped HDTV, and plan on downloading lots of HD content, then the Elite is a BARGAIN compared to the PS3. After all, with Sony crowing about the PS3 being the only true, next-gen, hi-def machine, they didn't include component OR an HDMI cable with either version of the PS3, did they? The Elite comes with both....
