It's been a very solid generation for wrpg's.
Sounds interesting.... Who would have ever guessed starting out in a town.
I'll give it a rent. I really hope it improves from 13, maybe it will surprise us after all.
Impressions of the first 5 seconds of reading this review:

Most games you get a small linear feeling arena that looks pretty but doesn't reach very far. If you are SE with FF you don't even include towns or exploration because of the space it takes up.... I'm not saying Skyrim's graphics are the best. But giving up what it has to offer for more eye candy would make the game worse.

It's a small up and coming studio. They simply don't have the resources. I'm glad they are reaching out to consoles in general and hope to see this talented independent studio expand.

Skyrim's graphics aren't on par with a Battlefield 3 or Witcher 2... But the size of the game is much bigger then it's competition.
Withcher 2 takes up about 20 gigs and the world is much smaller then Skyrim. Imagine how much space that type of graphics would take up for Skyrim... I'd say easily 100 gigs.
I'm going to have to agree with papashango.
By now you should know of the Nexus, you know the modding site that includes every Bethesda game. There you can easily find a ui mod.
By being a pc gamer you should thrive on the modding and the performance tweaks. I just can't see why someone would buy Skyrim on a pc over a console if they didn't want to alter or mod the game in some way. PC gamers usually prefer all those hard things normal gamers hate...
bugs are pretty minimal for pc. The only complaints I'm seeing is from people with low end gpu's wanting tweak's for better performance. You can't blame Bethesda for that.

o.k. I will agree with the U.I. for pc. It does feel more console crafted then crafted for pc users. I'd file that in poor design not buggy though.
Overall, this is Bethesda's least buggy game so you can't say they don't care.
Witcher 2 is the best pc game either way.

U3 and Skyrim are a tough match up. Game of the year will be one of the two for sure.
Uncharted has good story telling and graphical design, no doubt Naughty Dog is one of the top game makers in this respect. Props to them.
Skyrim makes so much improvements over oblivion as far as scripting for a open world. Making a open world of this size and scope takes a lot of dedication. You may not like rpg's but no game, rock star included, has made a more dedicat...

@ the disagree, yeah I hate CoD. I think they are milking gamers. At least FF had some creativity, and so did the GTA era that followed. This CoD era is the worst I've seen, there I said it.
If you are new to the series go ahead and start with Skyrim. It is the best at the moment, and the one you will most likely get into.
Morrowind, is a really good game.... But the graphics are out dated, you can mod them but not to the degree you get in Skyrim. Morrowind is one of the best games for people really into the series, but not one I'd recommend to start with at this stage.
Oblivion, was a big graphical improvement. But, a lot of people will tell...

Jrpg's are close to being put on life support. If only they'd go back to their roots. This identity crisis is going to kill them.

There is a little more to my point.
Skyrim is a hardcore gamers game where as Uncharted is aimed at being more mainstream. There is nothing wrong with that, but using that formula makes it a lot easier for it to be a hit.
Most developers are afraid to make a hardcore game with the budget and time spent that Skyrim did. Not only that, Skyrim gained commercial success even though it stuck with a formula that you say is, "90% .... r...
Almost forgot of this gem. I still think this game has the best graphics so far this year.
I'm not sure if it beats Skyrim for game of the year, mainly because of it's size and scope. Skyrim just has so much more content.
But, Witcher 2 deserves a mention for sure.
I gave agree's to the Skyrim fans. I don't want them to feel left out here and I love rpg's; Skyrim stays true to it's genre without selling out to the causal base and still manages mainstream success.
This is no knock on U3, technically U3 is the best game ever made for the PS3. I just think Skyrim is more fun, and has more to offer when it comes to gameplay (100's of more hours of gameplay compared to U3).
But then again I am biased towa...
Most pc gamers prefer steam nowadays. I wouldn't be surprised if over 50 % of Skyrims pc sales were digital.

Sorry, but you sound like a douche with that comment. PC gaming isn't going to die, no matter how much you wish it to. In fact, there is still a huge crowd that prefer it to console gaming, me included.
Best rpg of all time.... I'm not sure, there has been so many good ones especially if we include jrpgs from the ps1/ps2 era. I do think Skyrim puts wrpg's over the top in competing with that era of rpg's though.
.....and it is my game of the year as well.
