Man, RE4 is one of the greatest games ever made. It still held true to its horror values, even with the added emphasis to action. Resident Evil 5 was where things took a serious turn for the worst. Capcom wanted to emulate Western shooters to sell more.

Agreed, art direction always trumps polygons, lighting and shading (unless lighting is used very well as part of the general art direction). In time, all games will look dated. The ones with soul poured into their creations will still look beautiful long after. Case in point, games such as Final Fantasy IX, Xenoblade Chronicles, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, hell, even Super Mario World.

Agreed with Zelda. You gotta read between the lines, look at monuments, ruins and lost technology, and fit in all the pieces.

Don't forget Platinum and Starfox. Also, Smash was done with assistance from Bandai too, I believe? Donkey Kong handled by Retro, Twilight Princess HD, Ocarina of Time 3D and Majora's Mask 3D handled by Tantalus and Grezzo respectively, Yoshi's Wooly World by Good-Feel, Paper Mario by Intelligent Designs...let's see...Toad's Treasure Tracker had help by 1-UP, Luigi's Mansion by Next Level Games, who are also developing Federation Force, and so on. Nintendo has been han...

I blame consumers for demanding and investing their money in the highest polygon counts. I imagine regardless of the power of the console, even next generation, there will be compromises to try to max the machines out to provide either the best looking or smoothest running games. Either 1080 and 60 frames, or 4k and 30. Any developer could easily make a 1080p (even 4k, as xbox one and ps4 both support the output), 60fps game in this day, but gamers would tear them apart for the lack of visual...

I think Nintendo actually tasked Miyomoto with designing a game using the gamepad, if I remember correctly.

The thing is, when you have the choice to have or watch something in its original language, translation barriers aside, you're getting something that's closer to source material. There is information that is lost in every dub. You have to account for time. Something that takes half a second to say in Japanese, that might take a full second to convey in English, means that option is no longer available, and scripts need to be changed accordingly. I'd rather enjoy an original vision...

The souls series is pretty heavily based on Berserk. There are nods to it everywhere.

Ah man, Metro was fantastic.

Dude, so did you not like Bioshock at all? If you ignored the story, and didn't like the gameplay, what's the point? xD

I can agree with this, but I also think Nintendo was purposefully trying to create a "traditional" Zelda experience. There were alot of enemies, music and art that were directly taken from A Link to The Past. I have no doubt that it was intentional, and they were trying to mix a game somewhere between that and OoT.

I played Twilight Princess originally when it first released, and in my teenage years, I never cared for it. I always thought it was a bland copy and paste of OoT. After picking up the HD version, and playing through it again with an older mind, I found myself greatly appreciating the brilliant subtleties that I'd overlooked before and realized it was a perfect sequel to it. The story is fantastic, and alot of the environments add to it. Patches of stonework in woods that reveal civilizat...

Even with some of the gripes I had with Skyward Sword, it still remains one of the best games I've ever played. I would really (REALLY) like to see an HD and streamlined version of it surface someday.

YES, I've been wanting Nintendo vs. Capcom for years.

Man, it's 2016. In terms of the sizes of worlds that people expect in games now, and graphic quality, turn or ATB systems don't really work anymore...it's too jarring. You'd need a particular art direction. That's why you'll see more of it in lower budget games, and on handhelds. To have a game like FFXV though, imagine a game with that kind of art direction, swooshing into a battle, or finding a tiny building on a map and loading into an ent...

I'm feeling very hopeful for XV, but the last good Final Fantasy was before Square and Enix merged...
That was a long time ago now.

Or The Last Story 2. A man can dream right? That game, although predictable, was wonderful.
