Do you know how much money and rendering time are spent developing Pixar movies? The development budget for Cars 2, Toy Story 3, and Brave were $200,000,000 each. Expecting that from a video game developer is a pretty big request. Breath of the Wild is Nintendo's biggest game yet, and they're saying it will have to sell 2 million copies at full price just to recuperate development costs. Now that's a title that's been in creation for years (time is money man; You're not ma...
I hear ya man. I keep buying, but the time keeps escaping me xD
Flash storage is much superior to discs these days. Read speeds on lasers are too slow, that's why you have to install every game you own on your HDD on the Xbox and PS4. It's getting cheaper to manufacture as well, and you save on hardware costs by having less moving parts.
The DS ones were a liiiitle iffy with touch controls, poor graphics and whatnot. Still enjoyable games. I wish they had gone with sprites; It would have left them less inhibited by the tech. Other than that, all gems. Especially Link's Awakening. God, I love that game.
...A cel shaded Assassin's Creed game might actually make me want to buy it.
"Celda," they laughed.
Remember when the visual style for Wind Waker was initially lambasted when revealed? Remember when critics soon after praised it as one of the greatest games ever? Again with Skyward Sword's motion controls. Naysayers raged, and then it released to critical acclaim. Trust in main series Zelda games; They've yet to fail to deliver.
I decided on an Xbox for many reasons, Halo being one of them. I understood very well that the PS4 is the stronger machine, and would receive more Japanese support, but I preferred features of the Xbone, mainly the user interface, online infrastructure, controllers, GWG, and the fact I predicted Microsoft will probably open Windows 10 on the box at a low level, making it function more like a computer. We'll see some cool modding in a few years. I also trust Microsoft a bit more with my se...
If true, Nintendo is basically saying that they're deciding to go handheld only. Nintendo has never had a problem profiting from their handheld business. People will argue that handheld gaming sucks, but there are tens of millions of 3DS owners who would probably disagree.
Skyward Sword, although limited by the hardware (very few locations in the game, loading screens between Skyloft and the sky itself broke immersion as well), had one of the best stories in any Zelda, and fantastic gameplay and puzzle elements. I would rate it much higher.
What's wrong with them wanting to focus on a handheld console? That's where most of their sales derive from. When they merged and consolidated their handheld and console departments, it was obvious that this was the direction that they decided to take. I enjoyed the hell out of playing my 3DS.
I'll buy the hell out of the most powerful handheld that's ever been. There's never been a shortage of games to play on Nintendo handhelds. Rest assured, if this console is the only place to get EVERY first party Nintendo game (Pokemon, Mario Kart, new Splatoon, Smash, Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Star Fox) instead of a split hardware base, people are going to want to buy it. And it people are buying software, companies will want to develop games for it. This is pretty much exactly what...
It makes sense; Nintendo's handhelds have always thrashed the competition. With their console and handheld departments merging, if they focus on one sole console, it can be assured there will be no shortages of games to play. The 3DS has a vast library, and if this thing sells, companies are going to want to develop for it. You get different types of games on handheld. Do we really need another 3rd party machine? The 3DS made Nintendo decent money.
Fallout 4 seemed really stripped of RPG elements. Felt more like a shooter to me. I was initially enthralled, but quickly became indifferent enough not to finish it. Bethesda needs a new engine as well. Still using a modified version of the same engine used for Morrowind...
There are plenty of games to play; I can wait for a price drop to purchase it. I find myself unwilling to pay full price for games lately unless it's something I really want. My backlog is like a hundred games deep...
$40 seems like a fair price for Xbox/PS4.
Japan is effing crazy for Splatoon lol.
The campaign is worth a playthrough, especially for the achievements. It's not like it used to be though. Perhaps the concept has been played out, but it seems to have lost some of its appeal. Also, it's apparent that 343 is trying to move the story away from Master Chief.
I was left wanting more in the campaign, but the multiplayer, however, is absolutely fantastic.
He emphasized "your own software" and is clearly very excited about the feature. Some people do graphic design and photography editing for a living or hobby you know, and unless pirated, those programs aren't cheap.
Eh.
