Right now, they can't get the parts they need. There's actually a worldwide shortage of NAND memory. Businesses are waiting months for SSDs they need for servers, and huge companies like Apple are spending billions on huge chip orders so that they're prioritized over other buyers.
Microsoft failed this gen, and it started with the vision of their console in the first place. They let Sony walk all over them, and as an Xbox owner, after this E3, I'm incredibly disappointed. So you like shooters. There are many others who like RPGs, competitive fighters, action-adventure games, horror, novelized, survival, racing, etc. A good console to support with money should have decent choices for all types of gamers. Online shooters tend to sell the best, but it'd get boring pretty quick if that was the only thing out there.
I looked up best selling PS4 games globally, and there were 40 single player games (some had multiplayer elements) that sold over 1 million.
There should be a choice. Games like Persona 5, which I am greatly jealous of that I can't play by the way, sold fantastically and was highly rated critically and with consumers. Good single players games still captivate gamers. Look and Breath of the Wild and Horizon for example. After this E3, I realized that Microsoft is giving us absolutely SHIT to play.
I'm selling my Xbox. It's possible that many 3rd party companies might not see the extra time being worth it at all, which would be a terrible thing for Microsoft. They might end up having to foot part of development costs with certain companies.
All that power is useless if developers don't find it viable to sink the time and money into utilizing it.
