@Heartnet: "no company treats any of their consumers with any respect... its all about money..."
I certainly hope you never own/run a company or a customer service department. You act as if those two concepts are inherently connected, but they're not. Treating consumers with respect is part of getting money. It's how you generate repeat business, and "treating consumers with respect" can cover a wide range of issues, from customer service, to prod...
"Enjoy your PSN for free......oh wait....thats right, Sony saw a way to make more money and now is charging you for a sub-par online experience."
No, they're charging me for a "coupon service" that has netted me dozens upon dozens of games, many of them AAA. The "sub-par online experience" ("sub-par" apparently meaning "does everything I need it to do") is still free (and will remain free on the PS3).
Oh.....
I think you need to stop abusing your earbuds. But at least if it does break, you can use any other standard 3.5mm-jacked earpieces. MS says their proprietary jack is for better sound quality, but how much better will the sound quality be out of a $25 headset anyway? Half that $25 (or the $5 they take to manufacture) is probably taken up to produce the proprietary dongle.
It is nice that there's a mute button and volume controls right on the dongle/controller, though. Ha...
I wish someone would make a controller that was wireless and for which you didn't need to buy batteries.
@Thrust: I can afford to buy Mt. Dew and Doritos, but I don't.
Thing is, even if you think Sony "copied" MS by including a headset, Sony didn't come out and say "no headset included... well... uh... okay, now there's a headset included."

"Better than none, and at least PS4 users can use the same $100+ headsets from PS3, while Xbox 360 ones are now obselete."
Just got a Sony Pulse Elite headset. So F'ing awesome, and incredibly versatile. Use it for my PS3, for my conference calls at work, to listen to streams off my laptop, and as wireless DJ cans! And it'll work on the PS4.
I've got a mousepad for sale. Only $50. If $50 is too expensive for you, maybe you shouldn't be using computers.
Your understanding of the nature of the surveillance state is pedestrian and naive.
As just one aspect, you don't need to be "a terrorist or have millions of dollars stashed away some where," considering that it is admitted that you only need to be "two to three hops" from a "suspected" terrorist, which covers most of the residents of the US.

"I don't care if every Police officer and Government agent in the country tunes in and watches me on a daily basis,"
The death of the Republic inches ever closer.
Right... gotta "think for myself."
Because if I thought like everyone else, I'd think that 460<500.
Power to ya, malokevi. Keep on thinkin' as only you can.
Xbot logic. Does not compute.
Right... the number one Kinect-related question on the official Xbox forums is just a "lame non-question."
What... can't you point me to where they answer that question? After all, according to you "pretty much everything is already out there."
...oh except that "if it isn't than we don't know about it." Well, then it would certainly be prudent to pose a question about something we "don't know about," no...
Whoa man... that was xheavyx.

So what is the technical reason the Kinect can be "disabled" but not disconnected?
Hint: "Technical" as in "engineering." Not "because it's part of the system / because they want devs to use it."
"It would make sense that Xbox One does 720p."
Because it's a 360 with two 180s?
Zing?
Well thanks anyway for commenting on a game you obviously haven't played, or even bothered finding out about.

Thing is, we know very little about what the new Eye can do.
Can the new Kinect take 3d photos? The new stereoscopic Eye can. Some (like me) may consider that a useless or niche feature... just like I consider reading my heart rate and emotions to be worthless. In fact, I assign them negative worth... many of the Kinect features are detriments in my opinion... not only do I not want to have them, I want to not have them.
"Sony sacrifice your "eye&qu...
That may have been true initially, but the PS3 maintained sales strength long after lower-priced BluRay altertives were available.
Here's everything that was included with PS+ in year 1:
