I use the analog outputs on the PS3 a lot. I use them in my van, with my 720p/1080i projector, and I use the analog audio outs with HDMI video out in some situations. I was a bit bummed that they removed the analog outputs. I'll need to get an HDMI display for the van and an HDMI/component converter for my projector.

"U-turn" from what?

"Imagine playing bf4 and you see a grenade thrown right at you so you reach out with your arm close your hand and throw it back."

Because that's faster and more guaranteed to be recognized than a single button press?

And okay... you say you want it as an "option," with the ability to use the button as well. So you want it to be redundant. Sony could take your "grenade grab" and map it to the touchpad, and not have to waste on...

Why exactly am I supposed to be "excited" about facial recognition? Ooh! It can log me into my account automatically! Saving me three button presses and four seconds! (and then farming me for marketing data... awesome!)

And as an aside, I don't know about "revolutionizing" gaming, but people are underestimating the touchpad. It essentially adds like a dozen buttons/sliders to the controller.

Poor Malokevi has never heard of HDMI-CEC, which is already supported by the PS3.

But IR control is way more advanced than HDMI-CEC, right?

As an owner of a Harmony remote, it can be obnoxious when one of the components goes "out of sync" with the rest of the system, like if someone walks in front of the entertainment center while everything's turning on and blocks the signal to one component. And of course you'll need to be sure that your s...

And what is it exactly that prevents PCs from using "the cloud?"

Hell, what prevents the 360 from using it?

@JOY: "The envy is thick in every Titanfall, DR3, KI, Forza5 and of course Ryse thread."

The only one of those I'm remotely interested in is Titanfall, which looks like it will be coming to PS4, and will be on PC if I really got a jones for it. Even if it never came to PS4 and I didn't get it on PC, I can live with that. I would have liked to give Halo and GoW a whirl, but PS4 games kept me plenty occupied, and I won't buy a console just for one or two g...

Tiatanfall isn't "available" on any platform at the moment. You're talking about future availability, and indications suggest that it will have future availability on PS4.

And just to be contrarian: what if someone ran TF PC on Linux via WINE?

I am a parent, and I will not tag my children like farm animals.

Just because a reason may be considered "valid" does not mean it cannot be outweighed by other factors.

Wouldn't be that bad with a USB3.0 external. Would be what... 15 minutes each way, from internal to external and back again?

^This. You do *not* need to re-download.

And if you upgrade from a fat to a slim (PS3, theoretically for PS4 also), you can link via ethernet and transfer the data directly (it does take a fucking aeon on a full PS3, though).

"change HDD all the time"

Hm... changed out the 80GB in my Fat#1 for a 500GB when it filled up.

Changed out the 80GB in my Fat#2 for a 250 I had lying around when it filled up.

Took out the 500GB and put the 80GB back in when I sold Fat#1.

Put the 500GB in the 160GB Slim I bought to replace Fat#1. (I do a lot of business trips... Slim is more travel-friendly)

So, each machine upgraded once. Sorry, I...

Implantable tracking chips are certainly "innovative." Wouldn't want "privacy issues" to stifle progress, would we?

I'd say that turning any pair of standard headphones into wireless (via DS4) for game audio (not just voice) is pretty cool. I won't really need it since I have a Pulse headset, but if the batteries ran down in the Pulse, it looks like I could just jack into the controller and keep going.

If your "sweet PC headphones" have a 3-channel (L/R/voice) 3.5mm jack, they'll probably work.

I got a Pulse set last month. Sound great *and* super versatile. Use them on living room PS3, pop out dongle to move to bedroom PS3, use them for conference calls, for listening to stuff on my laptop, for mixing records, will use on PS4... can't beat 'em.

...unless devs just port over their compatible Kinect features.

Ahahaha.... "checkmate?" You owned and beat all five of the games he mentioned? Did you spend less than $10 a piece on each of them? Did you "own and beat" the other sixty-ish games that were available with PS+ at no extra charge?

Have fun keeping AC2 "forever," which I borrowed, platinumed, and returned three years ago. Kind of like Magic: Duels of the Planeswalkers that I got "free" with PS+, got 100% trophies, and never played again....
