Show me anyone saying anything remotely close to "the most amazing thing ever happened (sic)." Your hyperbole serves nothing but to illustrate your fanboyism.

Right... because Sony (the corporate umbrella, not SCEA) didn't start negotiating these contracts until the Xbone reveal.

And you know Play TV was out on the PS3 years ago, right?

"You will need to be a subscriber of said service with Viacom."

No, this is a deal where Sony would be the actual content distributor. With something like Netflix, Netflix is still the distributor, the PS3 is just the "portal." Whether you will have to pay Sony a separate subscription for the Viacom content or whether they'll include it with PS+ would be the question.

I wonder if they'll start doing tiered PS+. (PS++?)

I posted this more as a tit-for-tat to the One's TV focus. And it would actually be a one-up if it were part of PS+ and no cable box was needed.

To me, TV functionality still has negligible appeal and no bearing on my console purchase.

Right... because restricting trade-ins to "authorized retailers" (eg GameStop) is a way to "wean" gamers.

BTW... gotta love the "Sony was gonna do the same thing!" stuff. I'm sure a little while back you were one of the "Sony IS going to do the same thing!" fellas. Didn't work out that way for ya, did it? I guess you're in a better position now that you can claim something unprovable, instead of claiming something that can ...

The 24-hour check-in *was* the DRM. That's how they would monitor your licenses to make sure you're not loading the same game onto multiple machines, or playing after you've disposed of the disc.

What "Kinect scanning?" Do you mean using facial recognition to log into your account? If so, then there's been no change... if you set up your account on a friend's machine, it can be tied in to the facial recognition, and in the future you can use that...

I think it's more like "gets mocked for fixing customer complaints." And that's mainly because they were so adamant about their "vision" and talking down to anyone that questioned their policies.

Yeah, they're in a damned-if-you-do-damned-if-you -don't situation, but that's the bed they made for themselves.

Or you could just, you know... plug the controller in to charge when you're done.

He's not just "a PR guy," he's Director of Programming for Live. I'm not saying he's necessarily plugged in to every detail across the board, but he's got a bit more access than "just a PR guy" would.

@MIGHTY: The Xbone isn't "Windows-based." The game OS does not run on the Windows kernel.

My issues with the power bricks:

1) I game in three rooms at home: living room, bedroom, office/studio with projector. Oh, and my conversion van (not much room for extra bricks in those van compartments either). Since the PS3 uses a standard non-proprietary power cord, I can leave power cords plugged in in each room, and I don't have to dig behind furn...

@Gribble: Thanks for the link. This is what I was curious about, and the answer is disappointing:

"[When adding HDD to 12GB model], the entirety of the flash chip is copied onto the hard drive in a somewhat lengthy procedure. ... Once the transfer is finished, the flash store is deactivated completely, only being used once more if the hard drive is completely removed from the system."

1) Neither the PSUs in my PS3s, nor any of my bricks/PSUs for other devices have ever gotten "fried," and I use quality surge suppressors and/or power conditioners on my equipment. You're basically saying it's good that it's separate because it's low quality and will need to be replaced. (and it's not exactly rocket science to replace an internal PSU anyway) I guess you'd suggest I just buy four different bricks for each different room, instead of four standa...
