I got the beta this morning and played for about two hours (had to get kids from school) and will play much more in the next few days. The game is much more than I anticipated. I figured it would be great for the kids but we'll fight over it. I barely scratched the surface since I just began my first construction. The control is only a minor concern. it could be better but no way a deal breaker.
I have a fondness for the old control scheme. It sucked each time I returned to play one of the titles again but five minutes later the controls were no problem.
Like there was ever any doubt that this game would freaking rock. As for R2, I am sure it'll do well but I just didn't love the first one like I did Gears. I'll still purchase both but R2 will have to wait til Gears is done and that may be awhile with the new multiplayer modes. That being said, I understand the model for Gears but I am excited to jump into a 60 player match down the road.
The choices make perfect sense to anyone who has children. MS was going to have a huge holiday anyway but this will ensure it if true. Parents are always looking for deals, especially at Christmas. Lego is a huge game for a holiday bundle IMO.
Gears will likely trounce WAW but I'm getting both. I already set aside $800 for game purchases between now and Christmas just for me and my wife (thank God she's a gamer and makes a lot of money). I'm an archaeologist and writing my dissertation so I have craploads of time to play. Then I have to spend on the rugrats and their Wii-loving selves. Christmas will be a gamers heaven at my house this year. The plasmas will never be turned off again.
PS3 - R2, LBP, Motorstorm: PR, SOC...
Those trophies look pretty cool. It will be a tough week for my wife with R2 and Gears 2.
I am sure that I will beat it yet again on yet another system. Game is pretty damn good so what's not to like.
I like the trophies because I am a total achievement ho. Will get this one on the 360 tho since my brother is too cheap to buy a PS3.
Love the sound of that. I pre-ordered from Bestbuy and got The Art of Dead Space book. It was a nice reason to pre-order. I am very excited to get my hands on this title. I don't think that it will disappoint. I am glad to hear that the developers went the the right path with regards to the music as well.
This game is going to freaking rock! November can't get here quick enough.
Sirius would be pretty sweet. I stream songs from my iMac now but sometimes I just wanna listen to stuff I rarely hear. Plus it'll be much easier to select a channel based on the game your playing at the time. Hard Attack or Lithium comes to mind when I am playing a FPS.
Looks great but I also want to be wowed by gameplay so I am holding my praise for a later date.
Man October is freaking amazing. Fallout 3 (likely GOTY), Fable 2, FC2, Dead Space, SOCOM,LBL, and another Motorstorm title. Maybe even Legendary is turn out okay or is that asking too much? I have high hopes for Fallout 3 and feel that the title is in very capable hands.
Like many of you I own both so it isn't a big deal. I prefer developers make money this route and bring the games to both platforms. That way the gamer decides which to purchase and satisfies fanboys (yeah right) and the rest of us together. This also gives the fanboys reason to continue complaining as well based on graphics and DLC.
No it should not be free. It is an amazing service and gamers should not be so damn whiny. As soon as PSN is up to par, it probably won't be free either. PSN does some things right but you just can't seriously compare the two when it comes to the online community. I do think that, just like games, it is overpriced however and charging for themes is a freaking joke.
Well finally fanboys will get their chance to backup all the crap that spews from their mouths. If this works well and the PS3 becomes the lead platform the great and if not then then whining can return. That being said, PS3 ports have been sadly underwhelming.
Submission sounds pretty sweet. As for GOTY, I give it an pretty good chance but Fallout 3 is gonna be strong competition. LBP is too damn cute to win and R2 has an outside chance but unlikely. I played through the first and it just never held my attention but the sequel is looking better.
Another perfect use or time travel so I can go back and not read this crap. I am still on my first 360 which resides in a 6 yo boys room now that I have added an elite to my game room but I do have dual 4" fans pulling air out the rear of my cabinet. I know the problem exists but I do not know of one person who has experienced it. The xbox brand isn't going anywhere and neither is playstation and that is GREAT news for us gamers.
I could care less on the so-called winner of this war. I just want both to continue pushing the other into producing great games and console features to make those games more enjoyable. I buy what I like to play and in this case, I own all three big consoles (well 2 big and 1 strangely huge one) as do many of you. The only brand that I purchase to a fault is DODGE. Hemi Ram and Hemi Challenger and a $600/mo. gas budget. lol. Anyway, the only real winners are us gamers.
I can't wait to play L4D. I like the looks of the game and it seems intense as hell. As for Valve and the PS3, how many times can you burn a gamer with a bad port? Probably more than I think. They could just get a 360 instead of throwing money at stuff like Half Life.
