HD-DVD is still slower at reading than a 12X DVD drive in the xbox 360. Maybe in a few years that might change. Even if its technically possible there will be tens of millions of xbox 360s that have DVD drives so why would a publisher want to put out an HD-DVD game.
Its much easier if the game was split into 2 discs, that way we get cheaper consoles, fast loads from DVD and benefit by having games larger than 9GB.
Microsoft is in a way better financial situation with the xbox 360 then sony is with the ps3. They have steady income from xbox live, and game sales. Not to mention the controller, Play/Charge, Vision, Headsets and the other accesories. They even make money on the microtractions.
Also someone buying an xbox 360 is more inclined to buy Zune, Vista, Office and the other microsoft products. Lets not forget how the xbox 360 increased mediacenter sales.
Looks the same, except this one doesnt have plants and other vegetation on the hills.
I just watched it on my HDTV, WOW. I wonder if the final game looks this good.
When it comes to selling something stats are what see the product. Sony has not published the RSX stats, given that on paper atleast the Xenos appears more powerful. However they have published huge numbers for the cell processor and the amount that blu-ray can hold. They also claimed that their console was the only "true" next gen since it did 1080p. Well that just hit them back since Microsoft is going to have it before them.
They always pick on the little guys dont they.
Or maybe microsoft is buying up all the blue diodes for the HD-DVD drive that coming out for the xbox 360 on November 7th.
Do I spot some burned games, :|. There is hope for the PS fans
Good thing EA didn't own Halo, or else they would charge $10 just for the demo. I admit I might even have paid it.
Well this was one of the only way someone from europe could have owned a ps3 this christmas.
Car models look great and so do the mountains but the rest of the environment looks a little empty but Im sure most of that should be fixed by launch. But it looked awful how the car hit a small fence and bounced off.
Thats the thing I like about Forza 2, it has damage with the broken off parts staying on the track and affecting the rest of the race.
Maybe Microsoft Game Studios should expand into Microsoft Movie Studios and finally get this movie underway.
25 million in the US only is much better than what they did last generation with 25 million worldwide. Factor in Canada, Europe and Asia and we should get a pretty decent install base.
Some of the MGS games do get ported to the PC. But the games are designed around the xbox 360 and it takes a while for the port to be made. Like Halo 2 coming over 2 years after the xbox 1 version.
Here come the angry animal activist mob.
The people that are saying it not there, by chance do you live in North America. Because the demo is only available outside north america. I think OXM struch a deal with Ubisoft for exclusive rights in North America for this demo, same with chromehounds.
BTW, I'm Canadian. We have our very own Halo 3 demo and GOW but don't tell nobody. Muaah
You also have to consider that the ps3 was delayed. Devs have has pretty much equal hands on time with both systems. A good comparison is Gears of War with RFOM. Gears is the first x360 game made by EPIC and RFOM is the first by it's developer.
Wheres the canadian love?
In the long run, the extra cost would decrease as chip cost decrease. But ya, an extra $1 billion over the lifespan. So the xbox 360 could have run on only 256MB but obviously we now have 512MB, I say the more the merryier.
cell? All 3 next gen consoller processors are being designed by IBM, Xenon (xbox 360), Cell (ps3), BroadWay (wii). I believe xbox 3 is having a processor designed by microsoft.
