The Medium was a decent game, but left a lot of room for improvement. Better usage of Maw to have him Stalking you like Mr X did in REmake 2, but you cannot fight back like in Outlast. It would have made the "cat and mouse" scenario between them much more meaningful overall.

Yeah, I find the tutorials in Rise basic enough to not take up my time, but informative enough to get the idea and figure it out on my own. This actually made the learning process better for me, and I did not feel like I was getting blasted with too much info to process at once.
You are correct, but what the concern he is talking about happens to be is "sold through to consumers". Shipped alone would not reflect that, but it does help when looked at alongside other factors.
The actual units sold however could even be higher than 4 mil, considering it is also topping digital charts as well. Digital sales are not factored with physical units shipped afterall.
1.9 mil is from Japan, and sold out everywhere. However since these are numbers shipped, the total sales could be higher overall in all regions (especially Japan) with digital factored it.
Good thing there is plenty, as long as willful ignorance or denial isn't a factor.
Considering that shipped numbers are often determined by pre order numbers and sales expectations, coupled with the fact that it is selling out in the IP's biggest market, I would say it is pretty relevant.
By comparison, MH World sold 5 million across two platforms at launch while Rise did 4 million on just one.
Very impressive numbers, and I am sure this will have legs. Between the two most recent games, I think it is safe to say the IP has become pretty mainstream outside of Japan as well.

Niether the PSP nor Vita has separate visual settings based on TV or handheld the way Switch does. It was actually made with console functionality in mind.
The PSP and Vita just doing a direct HDMI out to a TV is not the same thing.
The same articles were made for PS4. It is a sales milestone, nothing more.
