I'm not disagreeing that exclusivity wouldn't have fixed anything, but I think you have the issue wrong. They did not have a great story, characters or emotions, so I don't think they decided that those were more important than gameplay.

I don't like it. I prefer to at least obfuscate my identity on most gaming boards unless I know people really well... And when I'm trying to game, I tend to not display my gender since there are a lot of assholes around, and it's impossible to fight them all. I love MGS games. I think the stories tend to be really powerful. MGS scenes are more powerful than RDR scenes, absolutely. The problem with their endings, though, is that they drag on too far after the climax of the story. I'm pretty sure they mean it doesn't sense depth closer than 1.2m (4') or farther than 3.5m (11.5'). I think you'd want that range to be as large as you could get it.

No... PS3 games come with the required firmware for the game, and they make you install them if you want to play the game. I've had this happen to me before, since I've always been a little lax in getting firmware updates. (I'm paranoid about bricking computers or consoles. Updates never seem to have enough testing before they're out in the wild.)

In all honesty, I liked the characters... but none of my friends did. Not one. They didn't feel any emotional connection to them. I liked them, but not enough to defend any of them. These are people who've played all the Final Fantasies, even the ones I really hated, and none of them finished the game, or plan to finish it. If I can't find anyone IRL who really loved them, then I can't agree that the characters were well done.
