In all honesty, I liked the characters... but none of my friends did. Not one. They didn't feel any emotional connection to them. I liked them, but not enough to defend any of them. These are people who've played all the Final Fantasies, even the ones I really hated, and none of them finished the game, or plan to finish it. If I can't find anyone IRL who really loved them, then I can't agree that the characters were well done.

I'm...

I'm not disagreeing that exclusivity wouldn't have fixed anything, but I think you have the issue wrong. They did not have a great story, characters or emotions, so I don't think they decided that those were more important than gameplay.

The game was all about the eyecandy.

For your amusement, remember the last time you worked on something other than rote activity with a few hours of sleep and no downtime-- probably during high school or college. Take that, and imagine it being for months, because many companies crunch for months if they crunch at all. How well do you really work at the end of month one? Is it worth it for a piece of entertainment that, in all likelihood, almost no one will remember in a few years? Now imagine yourself getting older, having a fa...

Optometrist != Ophthalmologist.

The guy's not even a doctor.

Yes. Game designers, we women are poor little things who can't play as well as guys. Can you give us a mode called "lady mode" which is synonymous with easy? It would make us like your games more.

WTF.

On the other hand, I do agree that it'd be nice to have games marketed to women that aren't kittens and teen pop stars, so maybe there's some good stuff in the study. It's not like we're reading the whole thing.

I don't like it. I prefer to at least obfuscate my identity on most gaming boards unless I know people really well... And when I'm trying to game, I tend to not display my gender since there are a lot of assholes around, and it's impossible to fight them all. But as long as this is just for posting there, it really doesn't matter to me, since I don't post there anyways. Just leave the game ids as they are, Blizzard!

I love MGS games. I think the stories tend to be really powerful. MGS scenes are more powerful than RDR scenes, absolutely. The problem with their endings, though, is that they drag on too far after the climax of the story. Shooting the Boss was far harder for me to do emotionally than the duel which just felt like a technical challenge.... but that's not quite the ending, is it. The microwave tunnel was brilliant, and fighting Ocelot was awesome and nostalgic and beautiful... but then th...

***Depth sensor range: 1.2m - 3.5m***

===Why would this vary so greatly? I thought it was controlled by the IR camera? ===

I'm pretty sure they mean it doesn't sense depth closer than 1.2m (4') or farther than 3.5m (11.5'). I think you'd want that range to be as large as you could get it.

"Why can't we see more gamer chicks do something different?"

Because... it bothers them to be harassed by idiots? Because it's a symptom of a larger problem that shows women still aren't accepted as equals by society at large (the attitudes come from somewhere)? Because it gets them hits on their blogs which generates a revenue stream?

*shrug* Take your pick.

Does it? I'd only heard about it not tracking fingers, so I figured that meant it didn't do anything much with hands. Hm, if it can do that, then I guess it would make sense to me :)

Well, staring at your television or computer screen for hours is bad for you too-- makes the eyes have issues with looking at distances, and the artificial light is bad for your sleep cycles.

If you wanted to be really healthy, I think you picked the wrong hobby.

Overall worldwide sales (ie, LTD) versus monthly worldwide sales. The 360 still has an overall sales advantage because of the year head start. Thus chipping away at it-- because the monthly sales allow them to continue to close the gap every month.

But... Kinect doesn't capture fingers? So how would a Black & White game work? I can't say I really loved the original, personally, but I'm still curious about how they'd get around that.

I dunno. It didn't look very impressive when they were playing it at E3. Just kind of... paint on, paint off, do some platforming... looked like a really meh game.

No... PS3 games come with the required firmware for the game, and they make you install them if you want to play the game. I've had this happen to me before, since I've always been a little lax in getting firmware updates. (I'm paranoid about bricking computers or consoles. Updates never seem to have enough testing before they're out in the wild.)

"IF you AGREED with the TOS, there is nothing you can do, you want OtherOS, don't Update, if you don't update you lose PSN, sorry but you PAID for a PS3, not for The PSN Service..."

Hm. I don't know about you, but I paid for a system I can play PS3 games on. (And I wanted to be able to program on a cell processor in my free time, because I'm geeky like that, but I don't expect many others bought their PS3s for that.) We're talking about the loss of future PS3 titles, no...

"They updated, they should have known!" I keep seeing this. Why?

I haven't updated. After reading through the new ToS, I haven't gone to a Sony PS3 site. Am I allowed to complain that I won't be able to play new games in a month or two?

I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. I don't want to give up games that I paid to be able to play on the system, and I don't want to give up the Other OS feature for which I paid. Sony is forcing me to choose... What...

According to the article, 1.3 million was the number quoted for NA sales; of that 1.3 million, 493,300 were for the Xbox 360. So... where's the other .5 million people are talking about?

I wonder if the majority of the people defending Sony here also defend Apple's choice to not have an open system...

I also wonder if they'd be more upset if Geohot had cracked something with WiFi and Sony decided to take that out, or if Sony said it's a PS3 Go now, and you can only download games if you want to use PSN...

5768d ago 3 agree0 disagreeView comment

... how the hell are consumers supposed to sue Geohotz? The only one that can do that is Sony. Geohotz hasn't directly done anything to PS3 owners. There's no business relationship, and he didn't remove the feature. We all know he's responsible, but what exactly would they sue him for?
