You realize that it’s just one game for now, it’s going to snowball when obsidian inexile compulsion all start releasing games right, not to mention the other studios of Bethesda like id Arkane and the rest. Star field is just the start of it. At some point ms realized you need exclusives for people to get into your ecosystem. Maybe an option for you is to get into their ecosystem using their xcloud for $15. If you’re not looking for a $500 series x

Tlou 2 is amazing. Would love for it to keep selling more. If Sony can make a ps5 remaster and sell it on pc then more power to them.

It was a bit long in the tooth true true, so glad remedy did well with the release of control. They’re up there now as a top tier dev. With enough time and budget would love to see what they can achieve. Hopefully control has kept them funded well for their next project.

Honestly would rather have ms focus on the studios they already have now. In exile and compulsion are still to be seen and studios like alpha dogs, focus on id tech engine integrate with studios they already have now rather than brining more into the fold. That is unless they’re looking to burn money on some investments and have seen some good pitches.

Saw a tweet saying that it’s not working because ps3 games aren’t back compat with ps5. 😅

Lol okay, Whatever helps you feel good about the ecosystem you invested in. Great time to be a gamer, sucks to be a fanboy.

That narrative holds no water now and will mean even less as time moves forward, 23 studios exclusive games are inevitable. Even quality games are surely inbound. Xbox went fro the 5 studios to 23. Insane to think that the xbone drought will continue.

No matter what they do, be its streaming apps on tv, a new mini gaming PC or cheaper systems for a low barrier of entry, they will never eat the playstation market share without the games. People dive into ecosystems looking for games. If xbox made quality games like sony first party does now, it's hard to imagine a world where playstation would be leading.

Ps is leading purely because of industry defining games, games that take years of time budget and talent. Xbox fi...

It’s a very smart move. I reckon it’s not the last we’ll hear of these collaborations.

Most of these xdev teams will be ready to go with their games by the time ms studios will be ready for their first party game per quarter vision, Sony won’t be idly sitting by, they’ll be delivering through their xdevs and their first party teams as well.

Great time to be a gamer.

Lol yes they have still not had a single first party release for series x|s. The only native release for them was medium from bloober. Even the one first party launch game (halo infinite) as you said we are still waiting for it. Which is again cross gen.

But you have to see the outlook of what Sony is doing now announcing all the xdev collaborations. Like from haven and now deviation games, no trailers just logos and hype. All of these are investments are a reminder that So...

This would not work if quality isn’t maintained. Ninja theory explicitly said they have been working on bleeding edge, even before the acquisition. Both these games you mentioned are very AA in scope. Although grounded has gained some traction. What these studios can do with the infrastructure and resources of a tech giant like Microsoft is still to be seen.

The only evidence we have of what studios are capable of is looking at teams like the coalition, turn 10, rare and 34...

Their only first party games that we’ve had last gen developed by their own first party were gears 4 5 from coalition, halo 5 from 343, forza horizon from playground (which only became first party the year they released horizon 4 in 2018) and forza Motorsport from turn 10, sea of thieves from rare.

The rest of the exclusives were all second party or timed third party, ms flight sim, gears tactics, halo wars 2. Quantum break, sunset overdrive, ori dead rising 3. Crackdown 3....

Exactly, more options, and I’m surprised no ones talking about the fact that they’re also saying they’re working on the next Xbox consoles.

"Cloud is key to our hardware and Game Pass roadmaps, but no one should think we're slowing down on our core console engineering. In fact, we're accelerating it".

I think that’s awesome. Would love for more people to get into games and if this is the way then this is the way.

I am a console gamer myself and can’t even imagine gaming over a stream, so I’m glad to see that despite what the headline says Spenser and the team in their article quiet explicitly say about how they are focused on the hardware side of things. And based on the their work with series x and the tech their team has done with bc it’s quiet clear.

23 studios and xbox games publishing, if they can plan the release dates well and get their teams to maintain high quality while hitting their launch dates on time, they will eventually take more of the market share, they have a big chip on their shoulder since last gen thanks to their first party drought.

Before anyone gets too excited remember this is a company that delayed infinite for a year which was to be a launch title for series x. The definition of poor planning. M...

Isn’t the difference now that they actually have their own studios instead of just the halo gears forza and fable teams like before? Their only first party games that we’ve had last gen developed by their own first party were gears 4 5 from coalition, halo 5 from 343, forza horizon from playground (which only became first party the year they released horizon 4 in 2018) and forza Motorsport from turn 10, sea of thieves from rare.

Honestly I don’t see that happening this year. It would be atleast till 2022 or 2023 till they start releasing their own games at a steady clip each quarter. All these years with 5 studios they’ve only been relying on halo gears and forza, and most of their third party exclusives didn’t light the world on fire, quantum break, sunset overdrive, rise of the tomb raider, dead rising 3, the medium. The third party exclusives strategy is not working. No wonder they had to go out and fix their own ...
