No offense buddy, but how often have you been dropped on the floor when you were a baby? I'm curious, I assume 10,11.. maybe 12 times?

Edit: My GeForce 8800 GTS640 (old chip, the 512MB series have the newer one) could crush the RSX over and over and over and over... without breaking a sweat. PC games just aren't able to utilize the power of current GFX cards because they have to be compatible with every GFX card on the market, that's why the PS3 can produce equal or even better g...

If PC gaming would die, a whole bunch of industries would collapse along with it. Aside from gaming, there are so few things you can do with your PC that need performance. Gaming drives a lot of the Home industries forward. Without gaming, Nvidia and ATi wouldn't be as big. AMD and Intel coudn't grow up so rapidly if they would only produce Server optimized CPUs.

On the other hand Linux would finally kick MS off the throne and we all could be happy... but as much as I love Linux,...

That's what I am starting to hate about PC gaming, I've tolerated it until now, but... I bought a 8800 GTS 640MB in May 2007 for 400 euros and it is considered old already. It supports ShaderModel 4, I haven't heard of any games using this already and yet there are news that ShaderModel 5 is already on its way. It sucks! I love my PC, but it's starting to dry out my wallet...

The way I see it, making the decision for Trophy support up to the devs. is Sonys new marketing strategy, they include Trophy support in their own 1st and 2nd party lineup (which is the size of China) knowing Trophy supported games sell better. This leaves the "lazy" competition in the background while Sonys games are selling like hotcakes.

Not a nice strategy, but a very effective one.

Intel said they would have a 32core CPU out in '09, was on wikipedia few years back but suddenly disappeared.. or I can't find it anymore.

Careful here... don#t give reloaded too much attention they might start finishing the games themself and release them before the companies have a chance :O.

RISKY business we're involved in here!

From a tech perspective the PS3 and the 360 are the only ThisGen consoles, the Wii is a redressed GameCube with a motion sensetive wiibrator.

Based on that MS is right, out of 2, they will get the second place, in other words, the last place.

Seriously if the price drop won't save the box, nothing will. The price drop is just preparing the customers for November, when their 3 year warranty will expire and they are starring at 3 red lights and a stack of games next to...

Think of a game, nothing special, normal amount of gameplay and cutscenes, but all in 1080p uncompressed. Textures are taking a whole bunch of space already, then there are the cut scenes, usually like 30-50 minutes in total? This will take a ridiculous amount of space as well. Add models, skins, maps (KillZone 2's maps are about 2GB each, that's half an avarage game these days!), not to mention the always underrated audio, plus localized versions of a game can be stored on a single disc. Thi...

Honestly, it doesn't take a genius to see why BluRay will last for long long time. The DVD became popular/standard near the end of the 90's, but existed for a few years already. BluRay adoption is a lot faster than that. And honestly, the only thing that killed the DVD is it's size limitations, 8,5GB is just not enough anymore, I own an mp3 player with almost 10 times the size in it, and it's just for mp3s.

BluRay will last just because of that, you can scale them to god knows wh...

Now that you mention it... if all TV series would be available for download... let's see, 210 episodes Stargate SG1, over 100 episodes of Stargate Atlantis when the season ends, Married with Children... 260 episodes, 180 episodes of Hogans Heroes (Classic!) and that's just the ones I own on DVD. 10 TB really doesn't sound that big with all those numbers in mind.

These experts have just proven that they are dumb...

How in hell are DD a threat to physical media. Despite the obvious reasons, here is a key factor why DD are far from ready:

I have a 3 mbit connection, means 3072 kbit = 360 kb/s.

To download a DL-DVD (8.5 GB, 8900608 kb), it would take 6 hours and 12 minutes.

To download a DL-Bluray (50 GB, 52428800 KB), it would take 36 hours and 40 minutes.

Can't be done, not in near future...

Trusting the US with "facts" about Russia is a very, very dumb move. We all know how the Americans think about Russia, and making stuff up is like the most popular thing the US press does. "Crisis Russia has created by itself." What a bullshit. Hundreds of dead Russians prove this wrong. Just dig up the speech of John F. Kennedy when Russia sent the first ever satellite into orbit and you will see what I mean by what they think of us.

Shutting down the press was the smartest move someone in Putins position could possibly do. Imagine you could do whatever you want without being hunted down by the police, or be afraid of law, just be sure to have a bottle of Vodka any time the police decides to control your papers to pay them off with it. Well that was reality in Russia before Putin appeared. People liked it that way, no laws to stop you, no prison if you know how to get around it etc., a new President who actually cares abo...

It wouldn't make sense releasing it on XBL, even if it is possible.

Think about it, why release a game that exceeds the HDD limits of 80% or even more Xbox360 owners. This is pure nonsense from a business standpoint. And the 20% that remain either have the game on DVD, or won't buy it at all. Some will do, but realising a game this big on XBL would probably cost them more than it would sell.

If people disagree on this, in case you own the 12GB version of the Xbox360,...

People pirate software because lack of money/bugs and so on.

More Games would sell well if the games were cheaper.
They would also would sell better if they were finished products.

Harris stated it's ok to buy a T-Shirt for 15 bucks but not a game.

Well I've yet to see a T-Shirt in the store with holes in it (bugs) and a T-Shirt is something you wear. It's not entertainment.

Spending millions on copy-protection software that buys you a...

I haven't said I'm not enjoying other racing games, I'm just saying I'm not enjoying them as much as Gran Turismo.

I don't think Polyphony would be mad if we "cheat" on Gran Turismo, but think of it that way: After you had the best sex you've ever had, could you enjoy anything worse the same way you did that night? :P

Sure it's all great and so on, but it won't reach that special experience.

Even if it reaches GT5 in terms of effects, the level of detail of GT5 is unreachable for anyone who would try. 220000 polygons on 1 car model is just crazy! GT5 is the king and no other racing simulation will reach it anymore.

Why?

Because Polyphony/Sony is getting payed by the manufacturers so they "show off" their cars. This gives them pressure for accurate details, incredible amount of money to work with and they don't have to be afraid of content cutti...
