This has already been debunked
There have been a few games where the boxart says this, but a download actually isn't required to play the game. In addition, I believe the European and Japanese versions do not have this on the boxart. In this case, I'm going to wait for official confirmation. Hopefully it's on the cart.
I really loved my PSP. I got the God of War: Chains of Olympus edition (came with a copy of the Superbad movie on UMD lol). There were so many great games on the PSP. Playing GTA Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories was surreal on the console at the time.
The Vita was a misstep. Great hardware, and it had a good initial software lineup...but then it just faded. I still pick it up and play it though. IMO PSP > DS, but the 3DS > Vita
Not only that, but there is still so much life left in the Switch (at least two and a half more years). The Wii at this point had hit a cliff, whereas this will be the second best year for Switch sales wise (and will put it over the 100M mark). Another 20-30M after that is practically guaranteed.
I think the line is relatively easy to distinguish. If the ability to own the game and system "new" (i.e. not pre-owned) is relatively easy emulation is fine IF you own the game (and preferably the system). If the game isn't easy to own new (the only way to buy is to get it used) then I think emulation is fine regardless. This is because the developer/publisher wouldn't make any money off the purchase anyway.

Nvidia isn't discontinuing it just yet. On their website they state the X1 will still be in production until 2025.

Sorry, typo. It was the result of piracy on the PSP which influenced Vita's proprietary memory cards. Is what I'd meant.
Also, Sony sells their consoles at a loss, so increased sales for the PSP does them absolutely nothing if people arent buying software. Also, late in it's life? Sony was addressing rampant piracy problems like two years into the consoles life. How is that late in it's life?

My concern is with its effect on consumers more than anything. Look at what happened with the Vita and the proprietary memory cards which was a direct result of the rampant piracy on the Vita (which subsequently influenced its unfortunate failure and lack of a successor). You know that Metroid is not a series that sells well, right? Sure, you don't owe Nintendo anything, but you also aren't owed the game. Piracy is entitlement.
I don't think it's a grey area when you're stealing a product you don't need. This would be different if it was food or medicine, but it's not.
It isn't morally correct to pirate. It's like saying it's morally correct to steal a car from a dealership. Excusing crappy behavior doesn't make it less crappy.

And I don't see the problem with making money day one. If I'm going to buy a product I'm not offended someone is going to make money off of it. That's capitalism 101. It's cool that MS and Sony lower the price to where they pretty much don't in order to pass the savings onto me, but I wouldn't blame those two for changing that tactic at all.
I think this "free pass" stuff is nonsense. Nintendo doesn't just get a free pass no matter what. A) I see MANY people from multiple sites consistently criticize Nintendo for many things, game prices, ports, remakes, lack of powerful hardware, online, controllers, this OLED model...and B) the Wii U proved that gamers don't just pick Nintendo no matter what. Heck, the 3DS hasn't sold as well as the Switch has either. It's just that the people buying the Switch don'...

I kind of get his point though. Why not have Xbox One versions with the complete Xbox One version of the game and then Xbox Series versions with the complete Xbox Series version of the game. Since it is apparent that the internet is required for smart delivery you could, in theory, offer the correct version when you connect to the internet. That way if I own an Xbox One the full version is on the disc I bought, but I could upgrade to a Series X where, with that 70...

Alex and the whole Digital Foundry team regularly talk about Switch's poor frame pacing issues with ports. They've said it's a "known issue" and several devs have explained even why it still happens. Yet they still mention it. In crysis they mentioned it going from 30 to 31 fps inconsistently. Does this mean they are against Nintendo? No...they are telling me, the consumer, what I want to know.

That's very difficult to do. It would need to have direct access to the motherboard somehow. External GPU's are a lot of money for not nearly as much power gain.
