Switch models are also sold out in many areas with Nintendo struggling to produce units.
On Amazon right now I can order a Switch, but I wont get it until sometime in February and OLED models are just sold out. At other stores, such as Best Buy, don't have any units at all or, if they do, they are often the Lite variant.
Switch isn't impacted nearly as much as XSX or PS5, but it is still being impacted by shortages.
Good numbers for Switch! Very slightly down YoY, but if they can maintain the same trajectory then they should finish the year with over 25M sold, which is no small task.
This would mean they hit the 102-103M mark by the end of 2021. Overtaking the Wii for sixth and possibly overtaking the PS1 for fifth best selling console ever. After that they just need over 14M to outsell the PS4 and 16M to outsell the Gameboy, which it should definitely be able to do by the end of next ...
I don't really understand what your comment is trying to say. It reads to me like anything that is positive for any other company besides Playstation is, in your opinion, "trying to boost" the Switch and Xbox.
I don't get it. Multiple companies can do well at the same time.
@Digital
I don't know what areas you are talking about where Xbox Series Anniversary edition was dropping frames compared to the PS5 anniversary edition. Are you sure you didn't accidentally compare their modded counterparts through BC? Because they did show how the PS4 version modded on a PS5 was MUCH more consistent than Series X BC with frame rate boost.
I also really don't agree with the idea that they only nitpick the things on the Plays...
It's not cherry picking. It's a stress test. He even called it "exceptional" given that it's really the only place you see drops.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 takes a while to get into, but once you do you'll really love it. It's my most played Switch game.
Dragon Quest XI S also takes a bit of time. If you don't want to spend the money you can play a 10 hour demo from the eshop. If you like it then the save transfers over. If not, no foul.
Astral Chain doesn't take long to get into, but it has a pretty complex battle system so there are quite a few tutorials.
...
My personal top ten recommendations are: Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Luigis Mansion 3, Metroid Dread, Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Astral Chain, Monster Hunter Rise, Dragon Quest XI S and Mario + Rabbids. I'm currently playing SMT V and that's a fantastic game as well.
Hopefully this helps!
Grand Theft Auto V has been topping the charts for PS4 and Xbox One since it released. Have both of those consoles had poor lineups as well?
Nintendo has published about 60 games on the Switch and about 10 of them are Wii U ports. Most of their content is not ports at all.
These remakes had a better first week than the original games in Japan. It doesn't seem like it's dwindling.
Sword/Shield also sold incredibly well and are the second best selling Pokemon games ever.
Lol of course my comment gets downvoted to oblivion. Anything that goes against the narrative of poor little Sony getting picked on by the media. This site is ridiculous with it's community bias.
@Darkborn @Colt
The media is not out to get Playstation. Playstation gets so many positive news articles, from review scores to sales statistics to even tech breakdowns. The top articles for this year also don't reflect your view at all. On the negative side for PS is 1) an article about voting Jim Ryan to leave, 2) saying Xbox Series S is a threat to PS, and 3) an article which states that their showcase was "good but not good enough". On the Xbox side the ne...
Sad that people disagree with facts. Go read the actual Bloomberg article and what Jim Ryan said
For October it was announced that Switch sold 711k units in the US that month. That was what Nintendo themselves announced. Before VG Charts adjusted their numbers they had the Switch at around 712k.
Do you have any idea how close that is? VGChartz is a lot better in their estimates than you're trying to make them out to be. I mean, that's literally within like .1%. sure, it's not 100%, but 99.9% is pretty freaking close.
They are talking about the fiscal year, not total lifetime sales. 7.6M PS5s were sold in the 2020 FY (it launched partway through Q3). 14.8M is for the time period between March of 2021 and March of 2022.
Total they will be around 20-22M by March of 2022 depending on availability
Nintendo stated Metroid sold over 850k units in the US for October. This is over twice as much as the previous best selling Metroid game, Metroid Prime. With just the US alone Metroid Dread has outsold around half of all Metroid games total. When you factor in the rest of NA + Japan and Europe it is highly likely that Metroid Dread has outsold every Metroid game aside from the original and Metroid Prime. That's in one month.
I'm very glad Metroid is doing well.
Makes sense. Similar to when the PS4 Slim launched, Switch lost it's streak the month before their new model came out and picked it up the next month. They sold 711k units in the US for the month, which, iirc, is just a little bit behind when the Lite launched. It does seem like stock issues are becoming a bigger problem for Nintendo, as they have been for PS5 and Series X.
@FinalFantasyFanatic
Switch is the first console in around 20 years to not be backwards compatible with their previous console. So they don't really have a history of that at all.
I don't think they are actually suggesting a 10 year console cycle. I think 8 years is the maximum.
It's probably some licensing thing and they will put it back on the store in a few short weeks. The same thing happened with DKC: Tropical Freeze and Pikmin 3 when they were a few months from releasing on Switch. They were pulled on Wii U, but then were added back within a month or so.
