They might be throwaway games on consoles when a new generation starts you don't have access to it anymore but on PC the game will still be alive and kicking many years down the line.
That's the downside to console gaming and the massive upside to PC gaming.
You want to play Overwatch for years to come get it on PC and not console.
It's browser based so there is no UWP or exe on PC. It's all done through a WebGL-capable browser like Chrome or Edge and powered by Microsoft cloud servers, Azure.
Like DethWish above has said. It's a browser based MMO type game for multiple platforms like Chromebook, Chrome, Firefox or Edge.
This is the minimum specs on the AoA website.
"Minimum Specs For The Game
We have written the game to run even on low-end hardware. It’s been tested on a $200 Chromebook and it works just fine at a decent fps. To play Age of Ascent, there’s nothing to install or download; it runs natively in the brow...
I doubt PC digital sales added much to the overall sales for Quantum Break as it's on Windows Store with UWP.
I'll never support Microsoft's initiative to create a walled garden inside the PC platform to further their Xbox Live agenda crap. Too little, too late for them with PC gamers after the Games for Windows Live crap.
This game is one instance where there needs to be a complete wipe and reboot of player stats but only after they've fixed most if not all the exploits and glitches in the game.
These devs won't have to balls to do that though so for me The Division is a dead game till they sort their shit out.
Limited sales will be had when it's exclusive to Windows Store.
MS last 2 games, Quantum Break and GoW UE, didn't perform well at all and now most PC gamers will be wary of any other console port from MS on Windows Store.
@ninsigma
I'd rather not have their commitment to PC platform if all they can muster up is Windows Store and UWP with very poorly executed console ports thus far.
PC gaming was much better without Microsoft trying to be the control freaks they always are and bring UWP to PC that nobody wanted or asked for.
I feel sorry for the developers like Remedy who are under the thumb of MS and trying their best with what's forced upon them. UWP ...
I'll support Remedy on PC once they bring their games to something other than Windows Store.
Until that day my money and support goes elsewhere.
They can say they are backdated to August all they want but it means nothing without any preorder numbers.
It could be backdated with only 10k preorders.
It's still a niche product and will not be mainstream till the price is much more reasonable than it is atm.
Maybe 2-3 years VR will be successful but it's not a necessary peripheral especially at the expensive price point it's at now.
The games coming out for VR...
They already alienated PC gamers over 10 years ago with Xbox and then G4WL.
The recent ports of Gears Ultimate and Quantum Break isn't doing them any favours either.
Both games are a complete mess on PC due to UWP and Windows Store highly limited infrastructure.
I gave up on Microsoft being part of the PC platform a long time ago and so I will not support their latest venture to close off PC gaming into their little Windows 10 bubble.
This is typical of how Microsoft treat PC gamers and the platform.
This is why most PC gamers didn't want them coming back.
They are a scourge on PC gaming. Always has been, always will be.
The sooner Microsoft go back to Xbox the better for PC gaming as a platform.
UWP will die or be completely forgotten about in the next few months. Throwing money at a problem and forcing a new walled garden onto everyone doesn't ea...
@hvd222
The PC gaming platform isn't just Windows any more.
It encompasses Windows, Linux and Mac.
There's programs out now that can block any of the snooping that MS tries. To change what they like the user has to accept the updates if they don't they can't change a damn thing.
UWP needs to prove itself first and it's doing a really shitty job of it so far.
No one trusts Microsoft and you...
My PC isn't locked down and I've got Windows 10 installed.
Microsoft is soon going to realise they don't control the PC platform any more. They only control their OS nothing else.
PC platform is not a console. The sooner they realise this the better for everyone.
Windows Store and UWP will die off just like G4WL did and MS will go back to consoles or quit gaming altogether.
I already have some malicious code in my PC which I neither wanted or asked for. Xbox and Windows Store apps :P
Microsoft can control whatever they want but PC gaming with go on regardless without them.
In the end they'll be controlling nothing but their own hot air as Windows Store and UWP is thrown to the dogs by most PC gamers that love modding will reject it.
Windows Store is like Vatican City walled up to the eyeballs in it's own little world but still trying to enforce it's BS on everyone outside of it in the real world.
So far the DX12 games out or coming soon have much higher system requirements than any DX11 or 9 game.
So much for DX12 being more efficient.
Was that a lie or just marketing BS?
As a PC gamer I will never support UWP or Windows Store.
I don't care how many games come to PC from Xbox they'll never persuade me to buy any of the games on Windows Store including Quantum Break from Remedy.
Microsoft will be the death of PC gaming if they get their way and persuade developers to use UWP instead of Win32.
I feel like it's G4WL all over again and PC gamers have got a fight on their hands to keep everything good a...
VR will not take off this year or for the next few years.
2016 for VR going mainstream is a pipe dream. This year is just the start of VR but it will never go mainstream at £600+.
For me it's still a gimmick as it requires so much money to be invested in it that I don't have especially when I'd require a high end PC as well.
PSVR might have a faster adoption rate but on PC it will stay a niche product for years for many peopl...
Really good game on PC. Just started playing it again. It has improved so much since I last played it.
At night the underwater world is stunning and quite creepy with all the sounds the creatures make.
Console gamers are in for a treat :)
Blizzard is a PC developer and have their own website to buy their games from so they can offer cheaper versions of their games directly to PC gamers.
I'll be getting the basic version in a few days time for £30/$40. I'll earn the skins while playing like I do with other games like this.
It would be the reverse if this was a console developer .
