while sony does enjoy a decent amount of revenue on PC (1.2 billion over the last five years to be exact) it only accounts for 1-2% of PlayStation's overall revenue. as to why DS2 is coming to PC so soon after launch, the original hit PC about 8 months after the original, so this move makes sense. the only real change here is that Sony is the one publishing instead of 505.
you haven't been reading the news, have you. Sony stockpiled in order to prepare for this.
Compare this to last month:
PS5: 1.16 million
Switch 2: 1.08 million
Switch: 311,009
Xbox Series X|S; 149,337
PS5 and Switch 2 sold multiple hundreds of thousands more when compared to the previous month. Black Friday and the Holiday are going to be a bloodbath. Sony and Nintendo will continue to dominate.
holy crap. xbox is just dead. i doubt we'll even see any black friday discounts.
Horizon has sold maybe 5-6 million copies between both games on PC, leaving the remaining 35 million from PlayStation.
nostalgia is a powerful thing and a remake done well can really motivate an audience. look at resident evil 2 and silent hill 2, these remakes were handled with care and deserve all the sales.
so essentially flat and console sales are cratering.
china hero project comes through again. :)
seriously. is he ill?
tango gameworks was your most creative team and you get rid of them. fuck off, you used car salesman.
the irony here is that xbox would have thrived had it not been for the endless ATM that is Microsoft. xbox would have tried to compete instead of using an infinite supply of cash to snatch up developers and whole publishers. it has lead to the brands own undoing and the funny thing is that its most vocal fanbase cheered this on.
i know some of the rumors floating around about target and walmart dropping xbox turned out to be bunk, but maybe they should actually consider dropping it. no one is buying this thing.
says the guy from the console in last place.
this is the rub. MS/Xbox knows it has a large enough number of dedicated fans that will purchase this device. this will only target them, and not the broader market. it will priced at a premium to ensure a profit is made with each one sold.
this is a self inflicted wound. i honestly don't know what they were thinking.
i find this headline absolutely hilarious. remember when gamepass started to ramp up as MS started to launch it's heavy hitters on the service? and every journalist was harping about how that model was the future and sony and nintendo better get in line? why does the platform in last place set the standard or trend for the entire industry? it's mind-bongling. same thing here. xbox is tanking. it doesn't reflect the entire industry.
outside of the US, xbox is a dead brand. it ain't doing so hot in the US either tbh.
this is so odd. consoles make up 85% of gp subscriptions. the xbox is the gateway to the service. if you kill the console, then subscription growth will crater.
i think he's referring to the part where it says for all players and all screamers, suggesting it's coming to every platform, but it's just speculation. though, i don't see why this would not be released on all platforms eventually.
but why? this device clearly is being developed for the mass market, it will be priced to reflect that. people need to stop framing this device as a competitor when that isn't the case. like the steam deck, this doesn't need to sell tens of millions of units to be deemed a success. it will likely be sold at a profit, and available only through the steam storefront.
